    I have a question for you. Can I install the lights behind the fascia board facing the wall? So the lights can be less visible.

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Govee lights are intended to be installed 2-4” from the wall for the cone effect. It is your preference though. Yes they can be installed like you have mentioned but you will get a round spread out light. Not saying it’s not ok but it’s your preference

    Where do you get the extra clips for each light?

  • @maxin3231
    @maxin3231 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You are the best! I like your style of installation. I wonder, do you need to have the power from the end of the plug only? Let’s say I have power in the middle of the roof, but you only have one set of lights that will run on both sides. How would you do that ?

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thanks for watching. So I’ve had this question brought up to me so don’t mind sharing my thoughts. Some have tried to T- off in both directions. It works but it only mirrors each other. Say you want to do spot lighting… if you turn off some lights on the left then the same will shut off on the right. If you have two controllers and want to split them from the middle out, then your presets will go opposite from each other. Only in advance settings you customize your own and fix the direction of flows, not presets.
      Best way to fix this is start your lights on the side and if there is attic space, use an extension cord from that outlet in the middle and get to your power adapter with controller on the side. Keep your controller closer to the front of the house so you don’t have any issues connecting

    All the lenghts are so helpful for planning this thanks! is it 9 or 10 lights per 17ft strand?

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The pros are 10 lights and the non pros are 12 lights. The pros lights are spaced 18 1/2” apart while the non pros are spaced 15 1/2” apart

    Great job👍. How would you attach Govee pro lights to stucco?

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure how old the house is but drilling is the only way. I mentioned old as possible brittleness. You will need to predrill a small hole small enough for your plastic insert size and then find the correct screw to into that. If your fascia edges is a few inches away from your wall, I suggest just placing them there cause mostly likely that’s wood

  • @jfpolymath
    @jfpolymath ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice videos. Question. Can you splice in two strands into the first? Say I have a 100ft and at 20ft I want to take one strand on to a lower Eve and the other strand on the upper eve - like a Y. Still the same length and number of lights but split?

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can’t do a split Y. The app won’t read those individuals lights as shut off. If you put a split they will react the same and not different. That’s the purpose of the advanced settings

    Which Govee outdoor lights are actually better between the Govee RGBIC 1st generation lights and the Govee PRO lights? I plan on using the all white lights mode year-round other than for the holidays. Thanks

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  ปีที่แล้ว

      From an installer standpoint I believe the pros are much easier to work with. The first generation lights were considered DIY friendly but its still is a bit challenging for the average Joe. The first lights have a distinct tent of green/purple in their white looking from different angles as for the pros, you get the best consistent cool white and warm white as it uses its own LEDs to make white. Pros are best because they match typical landscape lighting. To others, the white doesn’t matter, in your case it does cause you mentioned all year round and that’s best know for security lighting

    Hey Jb i noticed you did more than two inches from the wall. Probably because its center...do you recommend sticking closer to the wall...2 inshes or center it. From your experience.

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We stick with 2” for most installs. The only time you may need to adjust is if throughout your install there are areas that have design trim on the wall. Other that, keep it consistent so the appearance of how it shines on the wall

    I have 2 100ft govee pro outdoors. Since the initial release did not come with LED module driver, can I have one govee plug on the left side of the house and the other 100ft on the right side but have the Govee app sync in one direction? Like if I want to do a color change from right to left, would they end up converging instead of the combined 200ft left -> right effect?

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Currently you can run 200ft on one controller. Now I’m not sure whether or not they will update the firmware so that isn’t possible anymore but it currently is. You can add 12 strands together

      The 100ft Pros come with 1-12ft extension and 2-4ft extensions. The 200ft Pros comes with 2-12ft and 4-4ft extensions

    Are you really happy with the pros? I was so torn as trimlight quote was $4500 vs $700 pro with $1000 install
    I’m worried about the install and hope they install the Govee nicely if I go with them

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s difficult to determine what exactly what kit you will need since I don’t have a roofline layout of your home. In a previous comment I mentioned that as an installer, we prefer working with the pros. I’m kinda confused on what you said at the end of your comment stating I hope they install the Govee nicely. Who’s they? Is Trim Light installing your Govee lights?

    Thank you for your video. I'm in Idaho. I contacted Govee a few days ago to inquire about the black 200' release date. They said Nov 12th, but it actually came back in stock today. They said that the driver module is included in the 200' kit. Can you explain how/what/why a driver module is necessary? I have 400' to install. Also, I'm adhering to metal soffit... any advice on an adhesive to use in the event the 3M fails? I might start with it to avoid an unwanted ladder climb after the snow falls. Thanks in advance!

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are back in stock. Yes, indicated on their website the module driver is needed after a 150ft. If you decide to add 50ft extra from another box, it helps drive the data better to the remaining 50ft. So thats what it says on the govee site. Now I have installed 200ft without it since the module driver was never in the 100ft to begin with but the app read 12 segments without any issues.

    I have about 200 feet or so that i need covered. Whats the best option to get the best lighting control. Should i get one 150 kit and one 50 ft kit or two 100 ft kits? What option is easier to control and manage?

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you get the the Pros 200ft Kit it’s all around easier to manage splicing, length wise and all on one controller. It’s a hot item currently so good luck getting your hands on one of them. Multiple controllers takes away of the the full functionality. One controller works best because both WiFi and Bluetooth work. More controllers, Bluetooth has problems

  • @Omar-yf4ib
    @Omar-yf4ib ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For this setup were you able to sync both 100ft controllers with each other? I’m trying to figure out if I should buy two 100ft or just one of the 200ft for a two story home. Interested in what you would recommend.

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there and thanks for watching. What we tell our clients is that if there are big separations in rooflines and they possibly want to light up their sides, that will require huge jumps and different directions of the lights streaming. So it’s best to use two 100ft. Most do ask for them to stream in the same direction so it’s difficult to do that when you have your lights running one direction and need to light the top, then it will run the opposite direction if all on one controller

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can then group the controllers in same-model group under the home tab

    • @jbsdiytv

    • @jbsdiytv
      @jbsdiytv  ปีที่แล้ว

      @andrewalvarado319 most want to do spot lighting with the govee lights and you can only do this in the advance settings and segmented. When you do a Y-split, that data does not read the y separately but as one. They should all act independently from each other. If your ok with this happening then it can be done but there are no special connections provided by govee

    • @jbsdiytv

      The website indicates 150ft so I recommend to do just that until the module driver is released. Now, I was able to do two installs with 12 strands(200ft) and I’ve contacted the homeowners said they have had no issues. I will definitely circle back once those drivers get release.
