  • My experience lifting an old cop car. If anything, I hope this video answers some of the questions I had when I began attempting this project.
    Much thanks to -
My beautiful partner Bergen for letting me tear apart a perfectly good car in her yard.
Lance for coming out and helping me build the darn thing.
Mike, Oscar, Matt, Darren for various footage, photos, and helping out.

Great video. For those unaware there are several "Lifted Crown Vics" or "Off Road Panthers" Facebook pages devoted to this genre. Also the red light on the ceiling is a ticket light (not a stakeout light). It's used so that the white light from the regular overhead lights doesn't give away their position and it doesn't destroy your night vision. The military uses this same idea in the flash lights, blue or red snap in lenses for seeing at night.
The door panels may contain ballistic panels, not all Vics have them. It depends on what the car was used for. You have power seats in yours so likely it was a detective's or supervisor's car and therefore wouldn't have ballistic panels since those person's aren't usually on the front lines (so to speak).
Time Stamp 3:23 It's a power block, used for connecting different devices.
I live in Arizona, lots of dust here and I clean the MAF Sensor and intake every time I change the oil. A dirty MAF will cause your car to lose acceleration and give poor gas mileage.
Here in my neck of the woods (Phoenix) I belong to a car club with over 200 members (you must be a resident of the state of Arizona and own at least one of these cars). We have several LEO's, mechanics and dealers. Some members have cars with 700k miles on the original engine/transmission. Parts are plentiful as there are at least 25 panther cars in the salvage yards at any given time, and that's just Pull N Save (there are many others). There are some members who buy and sell these cars often. I personally know people who own 10 or more of these magnificent vehicles.
If you live in AZ and own one of these cars, here's the link to the Facebook group. facebook.com/groups/542524859906215

Hey thanks for all the detailed info. While I had a lot of fun with this car, I regret to say I just sold it to a gentleman in NM so I can focus on other projects. I'll be sure to pass this info to the new owner.

I'm really impressed with that lift that you got I might end up checking into it as a replacement for my $89.00 4" 'Donk Lift' from Lift-a-Brand/Universal Carlifts and cobbled together pieces were my only options to run 31" tires on 15" rims.
There are some things that your Vic has done that were similar to mine for the most part but since mine is a 2008 widetrack chassis some of the mods are completely different.
Yours appears to be a more robust build simply because of the suspension lift you have is way more legit than mine.
    Great video!!!😊👍

In Oregon, where Gambler 500 started, there isn't a $500 budget. Also, there are no rules. ABG

Not so much kevlar in the doors but armor plates (the type used in wearable body armor). They can stop a 12 gauge shotgun round.

Does the Tuner allow you to turn off the Rear O2 sensors and EGR signal for Track Use? How Loud was the Exhausts after you went Full Straight Pipe? Thanks for the Awesome Video!

I'm unsure about those features on the tuner but it does a lot of things I'm not willing to mess with haha. I'm only using the preprogrammed tunes that Marty sent me based on my build and to run legal on the street. Product page should have more info for you but it says it won't modify or delete vehicle emissions. sctflash.com/products/x4-performance-programmer/
At idle the sound isn't too loud, nice rumble. At any type of acceleration, yeah you can hear it coming. Cruising around town or on the trail it makes all sorts of lovely, throaty sounds. Driving for an extended amount of time on the highway is a very loud monotonous drone that you can easily get sick of but just turn the stereo up.

FIVE STARS for this video on rebuilding and entering your Crown Vic in the Gambler 500. The narrator used great references to check out. His speaking voice is smooth and clear and has explicit diction - that of a professional commentator! As a very amateur film editor, I appreciated the hours of filming, editing, cutting and splicing and background inserts to this production. KUDOS! Great to see this mechanic is a "chip off the ol' wrench-turning block".

1800 hundred bucks for a lift that needs so much modification. What a joke.
