    The fact that fey can just re-spawn explains alot; like why, to the fey, murder is "just a prank, bro."
    ...
    If this also applys to plants and animals, it also explains why much of the plane is so wild/lush/overgrown/arborial.

    The Shadow Plane has been a huge part of my experience with Pathfinder, and I hope ppl that see this understand that that plane of existence has been sitting, waiting, and beckoning to the players the entire time they've walked the material plane.

    In the mythic game my group just finished, we made a deal with the Scaeduinar that if they would help us become gods, we would find a way for them to create life.
    One of our party, a void kineticist, dove into a sphere of annihilation and we coaxed his soul back through it, whereupon a new body powered by negative energy formed for him. The Scaeduinar were so impressed (obviously he was serious about his promise), that they started worshipping him right there, and since we had gotten enough mythic ranks the Scaeduinar accessed divine magic for what might have been the first time ever.
    The cycle of life and death, souls forming and being absorbed, is one of the most fascinating things about Pathfinder. I generally like DnD's outer planes lore better, but I think Pathfinder nailed positive and negative planes.

It's been a lot of fun, but I now understand why Paizo never really went back to the system after WOTR save for the occasional Mythic varient of an enemy or some major BBEG.

    Hey, just a tip because this word is extremely weird but "demesne" is actually pronounced like "deh-mayn" bc it's related to the word "domain" but with some preserved old Anglo-French spelling bc demesne was mostly used in feudal property law. there's literally no way to know this pronunciation just by looking at the word but i figured it might be helpful information to share given the setting of Pathfinder has far more reason to be using feudal terminology than our everyday life so it may come up again.
    (im not really sure what the proper way to provide pronunciation advice is without coming across as rude so i'm just going to clarify that this is not intended to be snide or derisive in any way. I'm really enjoying your content and love to just sit down with a video or two and absorb the lore. you have a perfect GM voice i could listen to it for hours)

    About the positive energy plane...¿it is possible evade your damnation in the after life, by going to the positive energy plane and be re-absorbed? (and reincarnated) ¿or pharasma came for you instead?, because this can be a way of avoid an infernal contract....this can be disscused in a trial, i assume...anyway thanks

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, you're exactly right, if you were somehow able to get to the positive energy plane and your quintessence was reabsorbed into the plane and then redistributed back to the material plane in the form of an infant mortal that would be a form of reincarnation and you would have avoided the infernal contract. However - the new person your quintessence is born as is a completely new entity - you can think of this as reincarnation if you like but frankly, you've been completed destroyed and a new thing has been born from your remains, but if we are the sum of our experiences, nothing of the original you truly survives. Also, actually getting to the positive energy plane would be difficult. First, you'd have to escape the boneyard and the psychopomps after you die, second you'd have to avoid the aeons they'd hire to hunt you down if you managed to leave that plane, and finally you'd have to find a way to planeshift into the positive energy plane. If you can manage that, you can probably manage a simpler way of just avoiding death and judgment, such as necromancy and becoming a liche, or binding your soul to some immortal construct so you can no longer die and the infernal contract doesn't much matter any more. Right?

    Will you have to revise or make a lot of new videos for the Remaster changes? I'm not sure if it's changing more mechanics, lore, or a little bit of both. I also hope Paizo makes it easy to distinguish between 2e and the Remaster. Looking at their materials online, I sometimes can't see which is which.

      I'll make a video to explain the major lore changes (like a Remaster primer) but probably not remake all my old videos. Most changes in remaster are cosmetic anyway (name changes, mostly to avoid OGL territory) and no one will be angry if you still accidentally call a Hryngar a Duergar for example.

    Jioti sound like they lean slightly good.
    ...
    You say that positive energy isn't nessisarilly good, but most of the positive energy plane natives seem good-leaning to me.
    Even if they are slightly zenophobic, and don't care what allignment preincarnate souls mature into, the act of protecting them seems like a good deed to me.
    ...
    You also say that the souls of mortals that visit the plane are recycled streght back into positive energy, but later you say their souls are either sent to Pharasma for judgment or become luminous creatures; so which is it?

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think of it this way. The positive energy plane is like a burning sun with a powerful gravity. Most mortals who die on the positive energy plane have their souls absorbed back into the plane and never get judged by Pharasma or become petitioners, they simply cease to be. However there is a pull to the river of souls even on the positive energy plane, so if a mortal is on the outskirts of the plane, that pull might 'win out' against the gravitational pull of the positive energy plane, and the soul might escape into the river and be judged etc... and that mortal would get an afterlife. Finally, very rarely, a mortal might die in a location where the pull from the river and the heart of the energy plane are very nearly identical. The spirit then remains with the body for too long, and the creature eventually re-awakens as a luminous creature. That scenario is the least likely, so there are not many of that kind of creature.

    It always bothered me how the shadow plane is treated. The land of fey gets its wonders and horrors but the land of shadows gets nothing but terrible stuff. If the first world gets to be a fairytale then the netherworld should be defined by mystery and enigma for shadows are ever shifting and within them are unknown horrors and wonders. It should embody the allure of ancient ruins, otherworldly beings, and the sense of discovering something truly wonderous that drives people to explore the unknown. For the land inspired by Yugioh that I described in the wood and metal elemental planes video I want to instill and draw upon those aspects for that place was never ruled by tyrants and horrors.
    Speaking of lands infused with energies of the inner planes I have one more to go with those, a land infused and stirring with the energies of the first world, the ethereal plane, and the planes of fire and earth. It is a land full of plains covered by mere feet of water, never more than ten and never less than one, whom beast masters, shapers that shift their bodies after needed traits found in other lifeforms to enhance and work with their birth form, and human like machines dot the landscape. The energies flowing through has defined the land with life, vigor, and fertility. It is a land where spirits mingle with machines and flesh and where death is rather hard to truly stick. Ancient structures nearly unchanged from their heyday weave seamlessly throughout the land with only plants and new residents to denote their age for fire promotes creation and earth provides the stability for it to stick. The most numerous residents are the descendants of pleasure biodroids that appropriated what was left after the collapse of the previous civilization ages ago. It wasn't the military, construction bots, agricultural units, or even those built for calculations and predictions, but of all things the pleasure droids built off of character tropes and archetypes. They do keep their rather appealing forms partly because it is one of their foundational codes that the rest of them is built upon that has yet to negatively affect them and because they never had an issue with that aspect of themselves. In this land just about everything comes to at least a semblance of life.
    Appearance wise this third land is loosely based off of Mongolia and Polynesia and where one would find the tribal fantasy of bronze skin women dancing through the trees and swimming through the water. It was a little difficult figuring out how the energies of those planes would come together, and yes the main inhabitants are essentially Pathfinder's interpretation of the concept of shipgirls, tank girls, plane girls and the like while the beast masters were inspired by the monster taming genre such as Pokemon, Digimon, Spectrobes and the like with maybe a little bit of Monster Hunter Stories thrown in and the shifters being inspired by a story I read a long ago about how a man and his animal companion, either a dog or a cat, found a land of birds above the clouds and were slowly turning into birds while they were there. The altered forms of shifters differs greatly from the likes of lycanthropes in how it is a humanoid or human like form that is augmented and enhanced by animal traits rather than being a mash between human and animal. There is a bit of a cycle or just shifting that occurs with death in this land as a person who dies here would become a spirit and eventually possess some machinery or gets uploaded into machinery and eventually becomes a spirit with both going back to flesh at some point. It gets rather interesting when you have the energies of the first world mixing and merging with the energies of fire and earth as while no one really respawns or is in some kind of endless soul cycle it can be rather hard to have a sort of finality stick.
    Like with the two lands I previously described this land was also fairly isolated for geological and energy related reasons. The reason is because when lands become infused with a unique mixture of energies and so much of it they become seeds for new material worlds. These three however started interacting and so are becoming a seed for a new material plane and cosmology. What happens now will shape the reality that will birth from them and grow to become independent.
