    Purchased Osirion, Legacy of Pharos on sale on Paizo's site! It has the maps featured in this video, but few of the images. Can you recommend other books that include the images? They are stunning!!!

    I like Osirion in concept, but its execution is really... I don't know, I suppose the best description is that recognizing that Golarion is kitchen sink fantasy, Osirion has not aged well in its early installment weirdness because its half in half out. Its we want Egypt (Which I absolutely get) but we also want to bring in our own pantheon (which I also get).
    I like the video unreservedly.

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Loved this video. Learned some new stuff and it was lovely narrated. The only thing I was a bit disappointed by was the lack of focus on An-Hepsu XI.
    SPOILER FOR MUMMY'S MASK, DO NOT READ THE REST IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE SPOILED
    I know they decided to go with Hakotep instead of An-Hepsu as the villain for Mummy's Mask because they wanted a Mummy as the villain instead of a Lich, but An-Hepsu XI is by far the most feared Osirian Pharaoh and he's got a really cool backstory that would have been fun to mention imho.

    Dear Mythkeeper, first of all, thank you very much for this deep and well explained video! I’m about to start a home brew campaign at Osirion, and all the lore and knowledge regarding their history and places has been very enlightening for the plot brainstorming! With that being said, what places would you recommend me to use on my campaign, considering there will be a lot of lovecraftian/cosmic horror stuff and dreamlands in it? I’m very interested in the inverted pyramids, the sky pyramid, and all you said regarding the sky pharaoh and his lover that was very curious about the dark tapestry! Anything you could tell me, is very welcome! Regards 😊

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well my first suggestion is that, even if you plan not to use it, that you have a scan through the Mummy's Mask adventure path. The sky pharaoh and his wife feature heavily in that and it can serve as inpsiration for your own story.

    After you are done with this series of regional deep dives, is it possible to do an overview of the stories in the adventure paths?

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've been considering this for a while. Obviously it would be spoiler filled content but I think most 2E players are not planning on playing the 1E adventures so it might not be an issue. Likely after the Regional Deep Dive series are done, as that will also be heavy labor.

    Considering how much of things like Conan and the Cthulu mythos that Pathfinder cribs from, is there _anything_ in Osirion that even remotely resembles demonic pre-egyptian empires like Stygia from the Conan universe or Kemet from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles?
    And if there is not even the slightest reference to Thoth Amon, would there be scope to depict Osirion in a way that evokes either of the two pre-Egyptian kingdoms that I mentioned, especially if you were to depict earlier versions of Osirion?

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Though I'm not aware of anything canonical along these lines, its worth noting that Osirion was founded at the start of the Age of Destiny. Prior to the Age of Destiny there was a 1,000 year period called the Age of Anguish and a 1,000 year period called the Age of Darkness. Before that was the Earthfall Cataclysm so any previous human civilizations (contemporaries of Azlant and Thassilon) would have been wiped. Before that Osirion was ruled over by the Serpentfolk.
      Between the ages of Darkness and Anguish, that's 2,000 years of relatively unrecorded history. Its entirely possible that in those 2,000 years before Nethys came to his power and helped Azghad I found Osirion that there were empires like Khemet and Stygia. One could even imagine a lost history where Nethys destroyed these pre-Ossirianic empires because they were corrupted and evil and then erased their history to pave way for something new.
      He was, after all, a sorcerer so powerful he ended up becoming a God. ;-)

      I was actually kind of rolling my eyes at “literally just Ancient Egypt” being a thing in this setting years ago, until they fleshed it out and revealed it’s history and how it actually went BACK to “literally Ancient Egypt” aesthetically for reasons of fostering nationalism to secure their hard-won independence.
