      Left 5e also! Already knew about the Pathfinder setting from the Owlcat games. I like it better than any D&D setting. This is the BEST channel for lore.

    This is the first time I’ve really come across the idea that in the Pathfinder cosmology, people loose all memory in the afterlife. I can’t say as that I care for that-except for the Foo Creatures. For then, that idea works; it fits with my admittedly limited understanding of Buddhist ideas of reincarnation, and it’s fitting for the souls who have abandoned even their humanoid appearances. It also makes them unique.
    Personally, in my homebrew settings I’d say that everyone other than the Foo get to keep most of their memory at least for a time. There would be some psychic/emotional distance to the memories, but the petitioners would broadly be able to remember who they were, be able to recognize loved ones, and keep their overarching personalities. Though they could still be subject to change after centuries or millennia.
    That’s just me though.

    I'm currently running a campaign set in Golarion for my group and your videos have been a massive boon. Thank you for putting out this content and all your hard work! You're the most digestible pathfinder lore resource I've found and I've already watched most of your videos two to three times to take notes haha

    I've been playing Pathfinder from the beginning and have to say that your videos are wonderful. I love the way you bring the lore together with the art and explain things concisely. Keep up the amazing work, and thank you.

    Interesting how they took some of the names of D&D's outer planes, and moved some of them arround.
    ...
    In the D&D world axis cosmology, *Eliseum* was NG and The Clockwork *Narvana* of Mechinus was LN

    Maybe a weird question, but do you know if Iomedae is refereed as "the Queen of Heaven" anywhere? In the Wrath of the Righteous videogame The Hand of the Inheritor call her so (and, if I remember correctly, also mentions Aroden occupied that "position" before hand. I have to replay the game to be sure about that one though), but I never heard about that outside the videogame so I think it's Owlcat invention.

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As far as I know that's not one of her common epithets, but her domain is located in Heaven, so I suppose one could call her that.

    • @Dramon8888
      @Dramon8888 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheMythKeeper I figured, I just found it really weird since I never heard anything like that in the lore before. Though I guess it would make sense for Heaven to have a hierarchy since it's a lawful realm.

  • @andresmarrero8666

    Overall I like these better than D&D's set because they feel more like proper afterlives or at least realms that exist on the other side of eternity. No case of residents suddenly turning murderous just because you are a living mortal and did an action not in alignment with the plane's alignment or not wanting to ever leave said plane dispite still being alive and thus shouldn't be there for particularly large stretches of time.
    Though I don't understand why heaven is lawful good when it should be fused with Nirvana as the neutral good celestial realm. I do miss not having the wild lands or mechanus equivalent here. I probably would combine the concepts of the two, a celestial realm of ideal and perfect wilderness existing harmoniously with incredibly advanced and otherworldly tech. Though knowing me it may end up as a realm within the neutral good plane.

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Considering they were somewhat hamstrung by the rigidity of the alignment system they definitely got creative with the more good aligned planes.

    • @andresmarrero8666
      @andresmarrero8666 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheMythKeeper they did a good job though I think that rigidity is partially an issue of perception. Chaos and order for example are descriptors of the same thing in the same manner that hot and cold as well as nightmares and dreams are. Boiled down there are ultimately three kinds of areas that you will end up in, the good places, the bad places, and the numerous realms that you would actually want to visit. Even the inner planes follows this unintentional grouping to an extent. A lot of the issues are inherited from Dungeons and Dragons which didn't handle the afterlife and the other side of eternity all that well.

    Where did you find info on Gorum's realm, the Clashing Shore? There wasn't anything on the wiki or AoNPRD that I could see (I don'tthink I own any planar source books, sadly). I also thought it was weird that he has a realm of perpetual combat in Elysium when there valkyries and einherjar in the Maelstrom... you know, the actual Chaotic Neutral realm that Chaotic Neutral deities like Gorum ought to feel at home in.

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      My sources are usually in the video description now, and yeah, its totally weird right? I kind of love it though. When you start reading up on Gorum he's not just a battle god - he's a God that would be pro-David in the David v Goliath situation. Any time you fight incredible odds, he's happy, so as a god of undergods, I guess he leans ever so slightly on the Good side of the spectrum. Not enough to shift his own alignment to CG, but good enough that he will make his own domain on the Elysian shores of the Maelstrom rather than in the Maelstrom itself. Kind of cool I think.

    • @flibbernodgets7018
      @flibbernodgets7018 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TheMythKeeper ah, yeah I don't check the description enough. Your explanation of Gorum's attitude and realm makes sense but it certainly wasn't what I expected. Sounds like there's a niche for a bit nastier brand of war god though, if someone felt like trying their luck with the Starstone.

      So far as I can piece together, one of the others was the builder, as she did not build the garden herself. That does not exclude those two but I don't find it likely.

    • @TheMythKeeper

      Its not planned for yet, but if you want to know a little more about dragons I think I have some interesting stuff in my first or second video on the evil gods in the section about Dahak. But maybe I will - who knows! I crank through a lot of videos at the rate of a 1 a week and there's plenty to talk about on the subject of dragons.
