    A bit naughty telling people that glue is made out of Gorilla's Mike, you will be getting all sorts of complaints.
    You know full well it is made by Gorilla's, not out of them.

    You need to get some epoxy putty, Mike. It comes as a single stick, a bit like a malleable stick of rock, with the bulk making the softer core and a firmer thin outer layer. You cut off the amount you need, then knead the putty to mix it.
    I had some for years from a chandler, and bought another stick by JBWeld at a local hardware shop the other day. The JB Weld stud sets in five minutes and cures in an hour. It can be used under water, which is why it can usually be found at boat chandlers. Remember to stock up on Captain Tolly’s Creeping Crack Cure while you’re there. 😉

    Epoxy putty made from gorillas would have been easier

    Hey Mike,
    I'm afraid my clutch on the TDI is due for replacement.
    I could use a 2 post lift if i want.
    Would you pull the engine or remove the gearbox/Transfer case?
    What is the easiest way to do a clutch?

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would pull the engine - the gearbox is very heavy and difficult to handle

    I use baking powder and super glue to repair plastic, sets like concrete in seconds and can be sanded and painted, worth a go. Cheapest glue you can get is fine. Experiment 🙂👍🇮🇪

    Mnnn! I wondered how similar a disco 1 dash would be to a soft dash classic ? So conversion is complex to say an 89 model FA vin ?

      Has been done in the past - cannot see why not as the body shell is basically the same except you have to refit the donor mounting stampings onto the donor vehicle - not a 5-minute job

    Mine had similar problem. Used mesh wire behind + some epoxy to bind them. Sorted

    Done something like that on Defender now I wonder if I should make dash from wood.
    Cheers King Mike. 🥃

    Looks Fab, can see me repairing a few cracks with my Gorilla :)

  • @gazzafloss
    @gazzafloss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That part might not be exactly the same as the Disco but they're both made out of the same "rubbish" plastic. My D1 binnacle surround was broken in the same two places but "super glue" worked fine on the cracks but the repair lasted for ten years I owned the beast, looked a bit crook though, but it was an old "banger" by then anyhow.

      If you think LR plastics are bad, stay tuned for Debra's doors on her VW Beetle - shockingly bad

    Any chance we can get a window ECU lesson? My read Disco 1 windows are not working. Tried a bypass, resoldering the ECU.... No luck at all.

    lovely job considering it was made from a Ccadburys dairy milk bar. Tasty job. Will you spray the center console from the D1 to match the interior dash?

    It looked excellent when back in Mike, lovely job.
    I have had a lot of luck with something called "Hard Plastic Adhesive." Your idea was very good though.

    Wurth do a brilliant two component abs plastic glue, works incredibly well. I have glue loads of knackered LR parts, RR spoliers, and interior trim. Epoxy tends not to age well, and splits after a while.
