Start a defender engine and a tick form a heater fan is low on priorities.

If you run the fan while applying first heat from a heat gun/hair dryer the centrifugal force can rebalance the plastic blades and while still spinning apply cool air to fix the balanced shape.

Nothing like getting a new tool in your hand once in a while. That’s what the missus says anyway.

must be corroded inside. Too noisy ! I bought cheap ebay fan in my defender because it was shorted. Original one costs 350 AUD + ebay one 29.95! But VDO PM137 and PM136 can make one exact same for Defender. Rock Auto USA sells them.

    G'Day Mike
Matey I'd bin it, simply because it already has a fair amount of rust internally and time is its worst enemy.
Beside, would you like to listen to that ticking fan on a 300+km trip........Yeah NAR!

Knipex do the same style with a locking slip joint so you can use them on larger diameters. Like the old school mechanic pliers but with the screw extraction end, really useful design.
Engineer also do a smaller version that might have helped you the other day.

Neji-Sauraus, had them a couple of years now, got the 58 size (think they are the biggest). Blades are still sharp, and I cut M6 bolts with them (it can be done). Removed many a sheared/ruined screw with the end.
Never had a bad tool from Engineer.

Hi Mike. The cheapest transport I ever had was due to having multiple spares , of every part boltable to the chassis , including engines and the chassis itself ! I had a Honda K4 250 which was a little slow for most and friends . and their friends . would dump their unwanted bits my way . I would build a good spare engine and test coils , carbs , etc , on my running machine and store the good bits . A friend had a Marina which he did the same with .... it grew an 1800cc motor over time ! Thing is to find something no one wants but is ok really , say an Xantia today , and hope people are generous . Lol . Unfortunately Landrovers have become too expensive for this ideology to apply . Happy days . I sold all my K4 bits with a working bike for 50 quid in the end and I am still friends with the guy some 30 years later, so he must have been satisfied too .

Just a heads up: the motor(not fan) is the same as used on early 2000s model Toyota Camrys too. I recently changed my D2s blower. LR parts horribly expensive, and u pull it type wreckers don't have many LRs in stock. But after searching high and low, I found that the motor is the same as the Denso motor used in the Camry(circa 2002 or so). Went to the local self serve wreck in yard, a few camrys in stock, pulled motor for $20(AU). Pull squirrel cage off, pop LR squirrel cage on the camry blower motor .. done!. The camrys squirrel cage is a few millimeters longer and binds onto the body of the heater box, so don't try it complete.

ooops! sorry forgot to add high chance that the electrical plug will be the same too. There are both parallel type plugs AND right angled connector plugs. Hit and miss which one you get.

Those pliers are impressive, have bought a pair from Amazon following your recommendation and compared to conventional plier grip are streets ahead.

What's the difference between engineer pliers and normal pliers? Incidentally, a pair of small mole grips would have done just as well and if the screw wasn't going into plastic would give you a much needed better grip onto the screw head too.

      @BritannicaRestorations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Once you use them on small screws, you will never use Mole/Vise grips again

Is it worth oiling the old one as a precaution also? Though I guess now it's deep in the car.

Hi Mike, great pliers! Just watched you 300tdi turbo assembly. Was just wondering. Mine is leaking exhaust fumes from the waste gate spindle as it goes into the manifold. Is there a way to fix this or is it caput? Cheers, James.
Ps, keep up the great videos 👍😁👍

I have seen this before and the only way is to put a bush in it - by the time you do that you might as well find another manifold
