Personally I think Nintendo lost alot of creativity after the Wii. The Wii U was uninspired as were the games to come with it, save for a few games like Breath of the Wild. And with the Wii U and Switch they sure went crazy with the "repackaging old games and selling them at full price for nostalgia boners." I'm not saying everything after the Wii is downright horrible, just I feel like they've given up on some of the creative flair we came to love from Nintendo with games like SM64, Sunshine, Galaxy, MKWii and Double Dash, and so on. Now we have remake after remake of the NSMB series which is quite boring and bland, Mario Kart 8 and 8 Deluxe which in my inferior opinion is a backpedal from Wii save for the graphics, and more or less of just plain mediocrity. Rant over :D
Just a guy who likes Toyotas - Odyssey was amazing, it’s what got me interested in these older Mario games (I’ve never owned any consoles and haven’t played any of those games - I’m a PC gamer, but I bought a Switch because it’s portable).

@An Impostor I think the WiiU and the switch have plenty of amazing games! Maybe not as much as the Wii, but they definitely had lots of creativity and effort put into them. I mean, just look at 3D World. It’s an incredibly massive game, has very good level design.
Ahh yes the classic "Mario 64's camera is shit" argument. You do know Mario 64 was one of the first 3D games with a controllable camera? Also, just dont move it much, let the automatic camera do all the work, thats how I play the game.
@@gamingnubs7628 tbh for me its really shit, but the game is still a lot of fun. seriously, i love this game and i think its even better than the two other games and im even only a friggin 16 year old dude XD
Rookie comment here. I played this game like 15 years ago on my n64. Would i get the same experience on the switch? Is it worth buying the switch just to play this game for abit of nostalgia?
There are vastly cheaper ways to play SM64. But SM64 is SM64, so yes, it's gonna be the same game. But I wouldn't get a Switch just for it. But I would get a Switch for it, Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Smash Ultimate, etc.
Super Mario 64 is my favorite game of all time. I am so happy it’s the same and it’s the one game I could play over and over again and not get bored. I’m 29 and love that now I can play it on the switch!
If they couldn't fix the camera controls, then there was no point in making a new version. That's the only thing I would want them to change. 60 fps looks disgusting, widescreen is unnecessary, and I don't care about graphics looking realistic. I just want them to fix the camera mechanics. I've never had so much trouble seeing what I'm doing in a game. The is a textbook case of, "You had one job!"
Then they should have used the proper version of the game, that the majority of the world, including most Japanese players, actually played. I know not everyone cares about BLJs, but they are part of the game's legacy and should have been there.
@@jamespond9192 However they are the people keeping games alive for decades after they come out. Should never have patched it out in the first place. Only rumble actually “improves” this version at all, and all rumble actually fucking does is remind you that your ass hit the ground a little too hard in this game. Forgive me for knowing which version EVERYONE would rather be playing.
nintendo 64 online has worse quality emulation than 3d all-stars which has worse quality than wiivc which was actually great so. on the other hand, outside of winback, every game on n64 online is high quality and run at least better than switch homebrew n64 emulators can run them so if thats appealing to you go ahead
Exactly guys, sure we had the shinduo version that was only released in japa n in 1997, but when the game first came out in japan in 1996, their version of the original game didn't have all the voice lines Mario did in the north American version, so the shinduo version fixed that. But it doesn't make any frickin sense why they couldn't have the north American version so I could do some bljs. Man now I will never get to try it. All I have is this game on my switch and 3ds. We don't have a Wii U so I can't play it on virtual console.
Now, if they remastered the DS version of Mario 64 and gave it proper Analog control I would have been happier. I mean, that’s all the DS version really needs aside from an up-res, and re-recording the sound in that version to be less compressed
What your saying makes sense.. but why would Nintendo actually put in work and remaster a game when they could just rerelease the same game for the 4th time and make bank.. less effort and more money.. makes sense from a business stand point. Nintendo doesn’t care about the fans 😂
The only thing I didn’t like about SM64 on Switch is it replaced Mario’s “So long ga Bowser” with “Bye-bye” They used the Japanese version since Mario says “Bye-bye” while throwing Bowser. Also the stairs glitch would not work. You can’t go to the last Bowser glitch on Switch without getting 70 stars. They should have not edited it.
They technically didn't patch it in the switch version. It was fixed in a re-release around the around the time it first came out 20 years ago, and the switch remaster of 64 is based off of that version. It think it's called the Shindou version but I'm probably wrong. (Edit: I just realized he talks about them using the Shindou version. You can ignore this if you want lol)
i want it to seem like i can put any N64 game cartridge into the back of my Switcg Lite and it should look the same as playing on n64 graphics wise - no need to remaster - leave shit be, we buy for nostalgia
I’m enjoying mario 64 so far but the controls seem a little laggy at times idk if it’s just me but other then that the resolution is perfect for these classic games
That’s the same thing I thought about the controls, too. When I’m playing the game on the Switch using a Bluetooth N64 controller, I feel the lag. But when I’m playing the game on an emulator, I cannot feel any lag whatsoever.
I mean, you stated you already own these copies... you realize you don’t have to purchase the SM3DAS right? Lol All mine got lost throughout the years, so I’m stoked for this!
Whether or not I buy it is irrelevant to the points I bring up. I think Nintendo could have done much better no matter if I own a copy or I don't. But wouldn't it be better for me to actually own and play the game to make my final judgement?
With all the remastered versions by fans out there it would not take much for Nintendo to reach out to these people and bring them on board to do a proper mario 64 remaster. Modern graphics and updated textures is all that it would need. Would be even cooler if you could hit a switch on the map and make it so every painting/map then becomes a different new map with different levels and objectives. Twice the fun.
I don't know why this has so many dislikes, if you've seen or played the fan made Switch port of Super Mario 64 it's miles better than the product Nintendo put out for $60.
I still have my N64 (I was one of those suckers who pre-ordered paid £250 only to see it drops to £150 2 months after!). I find playing M64 on my 50" (13yr old) 1080p plasma difficult due to the picture quality. I would love to play this game remade in 4k 60fps someday. The remakes of the Resident Evil games look amazing on Playstation. Come on Nintendo. The Wii was the last Nintendo console I bought and I feel like I've missed out on some great games. As an aside, why is it they made a lite version for those that don't need to play on a home tv, but they didn't make one for those of us who want to play on our 65" OLED tvs but don't have a need for portable gaming? I just want a normal Nintendo console to play exclusive Nintendo games. These days I'd prefer just to buy a PS5 and have Nintendo makes their games for that. Imagine Nintedno games on PS5!
It's incredible how Nintendo manage to escape criticism/cynicism by essentially rerealising games at premium - there js still little reason to buy a Switch when youve got a Wii U
I'm sure that Pretendo could have at least fixed a bunch of stuff in the game. Fighting with constantly moving camera angles that tend to move your character in the wrong direction and camera glitching through walls adding screen shaking and flashing effect. Draw distance is very apparently needed for certain goals. Nicer textures? Porting this game on a Switch having Fullscreen HD rez would be awesome! The Health meter could be moved to the bottom left instead of near top middle blocking some of your forward view.... I'm sure the list would go on. Anyone else find that Mario glitches badly when standing on an edge? Didn't they do a remake for the previous "All Stars"?

Games like this that I don’t think should be remastered can be ported and I don’t mind them having the same graphics and they’re HD. But tbh the game should’ve gotten a widescreen. After all, Mario Sunshine got a widescreen.
Can someone send me the fan made switch version please? I would actually prefer to have THAT instead of having to use the Zoom function on my Switch.
AGREED ! Nintendo = Laziness. They didn't have to remake SM64, just give us an HD texture upgrade option, a 60 fps option, a widescreen 16:9 option, Draw distance option, etc....When i mention OPTION it means you can toggle on / off so for those who wish to run the game with its original assets yes they could. And there we go we're all happy and millions of Switch consoles would sell right away. If hackers can do this why not NINTENDO ??? ...you suckers.
I bought the switch version of mario 64. Bunch of old Easter eggs that were hidden in the original are gone. The controls dont operate quite the same and the camera is worse than it was on the actual 64
What easter eggs are missing?
What’s so important about widescreen. What’s wrong with 4x3? 4:3 isn’t a big deal.
I just bought it and it’s amazing
How much was it?
$59.99 for all three games
hm is it possible to get a switch hack where they fixed the shindu version of sm64(the BLJ part) and if could somebody guide me the way how to hack it in?
I would gladly appreciate an answer.
Complains about the game being a disappointment
Proceeds to purchase it anyway
Who says a scalper may not complain?
And if he didn't buy it your NPC ass would say he has no right to have an opinion.
How do you think he found out it was a disappointment genius
@@Mordecai02 By going online lmao. You don't have to play it to actually know it's a disappointment you dingus. Like I can look at a game like... Origami King and based on the footage immediately know I'm not gonna enjoy the game. I'm not gonna spend the money just to reconfirm I don't enjoy it. Same with Switch Sports.
@@SuperBeastlyMario Dude probably got it close to release, meaning there wasn't yet much word on it at the time
I think its ok. My only criticism is the camera is worse than the original game you dont seem to be able to zoom out as much as the original. I just think its lovely for kids to play this masterpiece on a modern console, with out any hassle. I still play the original on a 25 year CRT and it looks great still. And the low FPS isn't such an issue on the old tv.
Did anyone else beat the game and when it got to the thank you screen no matter what you pressed it wouldn’t move on so you went back to the title screen and it didn’t save. Did I do something wrong?
Why didn't they port the one that had Wario Luigi and Yoshi?
I'm honestly loving it because I never even played Sunshine, never beat 64, and never beat Galaxy because those two were really hard for me as a kid. It's weird playing it on the Switch but it is really fun and I believe it's even easier than the originals, which is great because I've already beat Sunshine and am on my way to beating Super Mario 64. It really exceeded my standards because I never played the old 64, I played the new one with the better-looking Mario and the coins we know today. The camera is so nostalgic as well.
So can the Japanese Switch game work in US nintendo switch?
Its *Three* Full Games And Plus You Cannot Talk Cause You Can't Even Make A Easy 2D Game
Thanks, Kanaya
I played the first few levels and I died 10 times trying to make a simple jump. Sometimes it’s borderline unplayable. Does it get any better?
You're just bad
Man, idec. The fact that I can still play super Mario 64 in switch is amazing and so cool. It just hits me with a wave of so much nostalgia. It feels to me like the perfect mix of old and new. But of course, I can only see the beauty in everything.
The ds Verson should've been part of the 3D all stars
Why would there be two versions of Super Mario 64 on the same cartridge
@@WiiGamer26 they meant having the DS version instead of the N64 version.
its for people who never played Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy
Alex I'm that person but I'm finding 64 hard to live without nostalgia. It feels like a 25 year old game
I haven't played 64, and it's okay...they should've made it better
There used to be a thing for this kind of thing, Virtual Console. The games would be priced accordingly to their real value (NOT what some scalper scum believes it should be) and you could just buy the ones you want. Nowadays they're slow and lazy with that kind of thing too.
It's for those who just want to play it on switch my brother.
Facts why is he crying
What
Why can’t we play it on switch and have it be full screen...
But the pc port is on switch which is better than this
@@SuperSX1234 There isn't a PC port. That's a full emulator using an emulator and rom which is illegal to provide. I use roms and emulators but not everyone trusts roms or emulators or wants to use keyboard/mouse
4:20 where did you find this rom. I've wanted one for ages
The dislikes are shameful and prove that Nintendo will get away with stuff like this
I hope they get away with this. This collection is great and doesnt deserve the hate it gets. Who cares if some retards made a native switch port when it crashes after 30 minutes of play time.
@@gamingnubs7628 why is the collection great
@@_strayfer_ It comes with 3 of Mario's greatest adventures. Buying 64, Sunshine and Galaxy would cost more than 60$ so this collection is perfect for those who dont care for old hardware and tons of cables. Also Sunshine and Galaxy on the go.
Criticizing Nintendo's laziness
People: This OlD rE-rElEaSE is worth $60 stOP beING RuDE and TriGGerED
Any other company releasing old game with like nothing done to it for cheaper.
People: THIS IS SO LAZY THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OMG
This why Nintendo gets away with these money grabs. People can still enjoy old games, they could of remastered it some, it would still be the same game but would play better and look better. Mario 64 controls like hot garbage.
@@psionski Odyssey was an amazing game. Also I think the Switch was a pretty cool concept, it just hasn't gotten many good games to go with it in my opinion.
@An Impostor I think the WiiU and the switch have plenty of amazing games! Maybe not as much as the Wii, but they definitely had lots of creativity and effort put into them. I mean, just look at 3D World. It’s an incredibly massive game, has very good level design.
I haven't played Sunshine or Galaxy so I'm pretty excited.
Banjo on XBLA is also 60fps, right?
yes
no it isn't
@@Linkerpink You sure?
yeah i have the game myself and it's 30 fps
@@Linkerpink I swear it's 60. Will have to check for myself later.
Is there at least the option to stretch the screen? Maybe they can patch in wide screen support?
Nope
It’d be nice if they could add that in. And also an option to mute that noise it makes when you move the camera. Annoying as hell! Lol
I’m glad he added the old version for switch idk why I just like it and I never got to play it
Me too
Me too
It isn't the old version that most people actually played.
@@infinitygames9317 While, technically, you are right, the Shindou version and the worldwide release are too identical for that to really matter.
I got to play it but on the DS. I never played the original game with the original game system before
I agree with the ending that galaxy 2 should’ve been included 100%
I'm 21 stars in and giving up on this. The camera system is making this game unplayable for me personally.

I think I'll stick with the Wii Virtual console release. It works like a charm and the 480i resolution and color limits just give it a certain charm
"hl2.exe has stopped working" why and how is mario 64 half-life 2
Super Mario 64 is my favorite game of all time. I am so happy it’s the same and it’s the one game I could play over and over again and not get bored. I’m 29 and love that now I can play it on the switch!
I too love product!
It was at a time when Covid was happening. Like be grateful yall get 3 3d mario games in one. It’s not easy making video games
I think Nintendo just wanted to give an authentic experience
Remaking SM64 completely is just gonna bring a SMO style game and the original's feeling is gone.
Then they should have used the proper version of the game, that the majority of the world, including most Japanese players, actually played. I know not everyone cares about BLJs, but they are part of the game's legacy and should have been there.
@@infinitygames9317 You do know speedruners aren’t the only people who play video games right?
@@jamespond9192 However they are the people keeping games alive for decades after they come out. Should never have patched it out in the first place.

Forgive me for knowing which version EVERYONE would rather be playing.
Has Nintendo changed anything? It’s a year later. Should I pay $50 for super Mario and oot?
nintendo 64 online has worse quality emulation than 3d all-stars which has worse quality than wiivc which was
actually great so.
on the other hand, outside of winback, every game on n64 online is high quality and run at least better than switch homebrew n64 emulators can run them so if thats appealing to you go ahead
sm64 in browser are fullscreen or widescreen
Don't worry, people will just sell their copy and it will still be here
Exactly guys, sure we had the shinduo version that was only released in japa n in 1997, but when the game first came out in japan in 1996, their version of the original game didn't have all the voice lines Mario did in the north American version, so the shinduo version fixed that. But it doesn't make any frickin sense why they couldn't have the north American version so I could do some bljs. Man now I will never get to try it. All I have is this game on my switch and 3ds. We don't have a Wii U so I can't play it on virtual console.
05:09 This killed me 😂😂😂
'Is it an emulated copy?' oh boy
Now, if they remastered the DS version of Mario 64 and gave it proper Analog control I would have been happier. I mean, that’s all the DS version really needs aside from an up-res, and re-recording the sound in that version to be less compressed
What your saying makes sense.. but why would Nintendo actually put in work and remaster a game when they could just rerelease the same game for the 4th time and make bank.. less effort and more money.. makes sense from a business stand point. Nintendo doesn’t care about the fans 😂
I mean Super Mario 64 is already a perfect game so why would they just make the game look cleaner, why not ACTUALLY REMAKE SM64
I knew nintendo would do a half assed attempt at cash grab. Almost had me. Informative video
Tbh sunshine was the only playable game in the collection. I don't understand the hype around galaxy, straight forward boring dizzy ass game.
If Galaxy would be amazing on the switch if it were playable on a TV, But it's definitely not bad
Why do games have to have communities?
The toughest enemy in Mario 64 is the camera
I've just been wondering is there multiplayer?
Nintendo is too lazy for that
kinda wish they didnt patch the blj though. that kinda sucks.
You can ignore this if you want lol)
only a little clip represents a big kick in the nuts for all speedrunners
All these options should have been optional from the start menu. I agree, it's Nintendo being lazy

That’s kind of a you problem
What im dissapointed about is The Controls, Because on the N64 its so much easier but in switch its harder and you cant even do some tricks
i want it to seem like i can put any N64 game cartridge into the back of my Switcg Lite and it should look the same as playing on n64 graphics wise - no need to remaster - leave shit be, we buy for nostalgia
so did they ever pull a doom unity and make things better?
Dude I think you can make it wide screen lol you just got to look em up how to switch it through your TV?
I’m enjoying mario 64 so far but the controls seem a little laggy at times idk if it’s just me but other then that the resolution is perfect for these classic games
That’s the same thing I thought about the controls, too. When I’m playing the game on the Switch using a Bluetooth N64 controller, I feel the lag. But when I’m playing the game on an emulator, I cannot feel any lag whatsoever.
Not gonna lie, at 1:29, I thought you said, "Sunshine isn't widescreen", so I was like, "Yes it is."
I mean, you stated you already own these copies... you realize you don’t have to purchase the SM3DAS right? Lol
All mine got lost throughout the years, so I’m stoked for this!
Whether or not I buy it is irrelevant to the points I bring up. I think Nintendo could have done much better no matter if I own a copy or I don't. But wouldn't it be better for me to actually own and play the game to make my final judgement?
He won’t have the soundtrack
It’s so hard to use the wing cap in the Switch
Thank you for your opinion Walt Jr. Loved you on breaking bad.
You killed Uncle Hank
With all the remastered versions by fans out there it would not take much for Nintendo to reach out to these people and bring them on board to do a proper mario 64 remaster. Modern graphics and updated textures is all that it would need. Would be even cooler if you could hit a switch on the map and make it so every painting/map then becomes a different new map with different levels and objectives. Twice the fun.
*Fun fact:* The original Mario 64 voice actor said the line when *Mario throws Bowser* into the spike is *“so long King Bowser”* 😮😊📚🙌
😢😢😢 I wondered what he said 😅
This is way better than Mario Odessey.
I don't know why this has so many dislikes, if you've seen or played the fan made Switch port of Super Mario 64 it's miles better than the product Nintendo put out for $60.
You can play with a port by fans, but the fun and joy of the game is gone, you can play a fan-made remake, but miss the fun you had in the original.

They should have put the DS version instead of 64 version for the Switch. More characters and more levels. And should be easier with Switch controls.
Didn't they do a remake for the previous "All Stars"?
is it bad that I laughed so hard when he said "galaxy.... Samsung" like is my sense of humor that dry??? needless to say, I immediately subscribed

Not doing 64 widescreen is a wise choice.
Ports should be as faithful to the original as possible. Else it’s not the same game.
Guess we gotta remove Sunshine from the compilation then.
