      I love how you sew the fancier scrunchie. It is so much neater than having a seam you can see on the sheer fabric. I’ll do just that. Thank you.

    What a lovely way to dress up a scrunchie! I definitely will try this. Satin and organza fray A LOT. But yours look so neat! What’s your secret?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Please do! I am using a very good quality stretch satin and regular organza. I cut out using a rotary blade and handle as little as possible. If you are only making a few, you can use pinking shears to cut to help with the fraying or you can use a bit of fray check on the edges . Mainly I just deal with the fraying………. Please share and have a look at my other videos, More to come……😊

  • @firdowskruger9896

    Hi Angela. Thanks again for a great upload. Something, I am not clear on - why does the inner layer have to have a large seam of 5 eights of an inch/1.5cm? What would happen if the seams for both were the same? For example ½cm. Love and greetings from Pretoria, South Africa.

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Firdows, the fabric was cut the same length. The outer layer then was sewn with a French seam and that took up ⅝” in total. The inner fabric just has a plain seam. Both pieces need to be the same circumference when joined together. This tutorial is to show you how the entire scrunchie has a clean neat finish without any raw edges showing so sheer layer needs a French seam. You can cut length of the lining ¾’’ shorter if you just want to sew a ¼” seam. I kept the measurements of the fabric the same so easier for beginners.
      Sorry rambling a bit as it’s 1am here….
      Hope this makes sense.
      Cheers from Down Under😊. Thanks for watching!

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fabric is twisted when the side edges are not matched up properly. Make sure you are accurate with your cutting and marking. Fabric layers should be equal when sewn together and lay flat and smooth. Make more notches on the sides so you can line up when sewing. Have fun!

      yes, I'm new to the business like 1 month new. But I've been practicing for like 2-3 months trying the easiest and perfect length for scrunchies. I tried also ur short vid using a hair tie instead of elastic. I use it for the wider fabrics since I can lose control when I tried it to the 4in fabrics... 💟

      You may like my next video as the scrunchies have a different but simple look. I have a ton of ideas but very short on time to produce these videos as each one takes between 20-30 hrs in total to get just a few minutes……
      Thanks again for watching. Have a great day!😊

      You can do it! Just go slow, cut accurately and straight, use more clips or pins if you have to and it will turn out beautiful. I will have new scrunchie video soon.😊

    Hi Angela, these scrunchies are so pretty. Thank you for great video. Can I make request for couple of video tutorials, can you please do videos on sewing machine maintenance (cleaning and oiling) and how to do invisible stitch. For us who are just started learning how to sew. Thank you Angela. Love your videos. Can’t wait for more 👍

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Christine for the feedback. one of the best things you can do for your machines is keeping it dust free everywhere. just a tiny piece of dust can throw things off. And always cut and sew as accurately as possible. This way things will fit together properly and the finish will look more professional. Have a great day!

    the way you hand sew it closed is pretty cool. are you catching both sides of fabric at once instead of one side at a time?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can sew either way. Just use small stitches to get a nice tight finish. Thanks for watching!
