      I cut the big scrunchies 7’’ wide and the length can be from 40”- 50” depending on weight of fabric and how it gathers. I try to just use width of fabric without the selvage and adjust it from there if it looks too full. I have a couple other videos on scrunchies and will be uploading another one soon showing how to turn loops if you want to make it that way. Have a great day!!

    Hey what’s up, I’m 14 years old and when I was 10 I wanted to start my own small business of scrunchies, I got more into it because of this girl that created XXL Scrunchies & Co and I was going to name it “Royalty Scrunchies” but the thing is I could make scrunchies but everything would go wrong when I would sew it shut because I would sew back and forth and then it would not stretch much , does anyone have any tips? If yes pls comment down below 👇

    • @NotchesSewing

      Go for it! Just start off with a basic good quality machine. Then practice on scraps to learn how to control your fabric and machine. Hopefully you will catch the bug for sewing! There Are a lot of videos out there that just show a lot of unnecessary steps or just aren’t good practices. It’s good you watch a lot and try to filter them out. Hi thanks for sharing your tips! You did a great job. I was wondering if you Prewash your fabric for scrunchies? I suppose the chemicals in the fabric would keep the fabric nicer for longer?

    • @NotchesSewing

      I don’t prewash the fabric as I don’t worry about shrinkage for a scrunchie. For clothing and projects that get washed a lot, I definitely prewash. Thanks for washing.

    I know this is an older video, but I have to ask... How are you getting all the ends/are you sewing the middle piece of fabric you fold twice??? Am i missing something?? Im so confused 🥲

    • @bellaswan1459
      @bellaswan1459 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sew the ends then fold one side as small as you can so you don't sew it and then sew down the other side continue tell about to fingers at the end pull the fabric and continue once you get towards the end you already sewed back stitch, cut and put your elastic in then close shut. If you still confused look for burrito style scrunchies

    I want to make some scrunchies but they come in different sizes. A picture in someones hair would help. I have thick hair jaw length and my daughter has long thick curly hair yet we wear the same size. I was fast forwarding looking for a size/picture maybe I missed.

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      all details in description. Best thing for you to do is cut a longer length of elastic , tie into knot but don’t close scrunchie. If you need to adjust the elastic , it is easy for you to make shorter and then close the seam. You don’t need to cut the fabric exactly like I have, you can make any size you like. Cheers!

    I always hate when I watch tutorials I'm like that kid in class who still doesn't get it. I can't understand what's going on from the very first one. I only saw one of the short lengths stitched. Does that mean it was just one length that was sewn together to make a circle. If so ok I might get it. But then what's going on when she's doing that weird fold and sewing down the length lol. Why is there fabric folded in the middle that has to keep being moved or pulled out the way. Is that just the rest of the scrunchie? If so I don't understand why it's all inside like that or why it needs to be. Sorry I'm dumb I know but I don't get it. I've seen someone else do it too but I can't work out what's happening. Grrrr I annoy myself so much! I bet this is a fab tutorial too 😱😢

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Katrina, you are not dumb! It’s a tricky thing to do and if you are new to sewing it will look like a crazy game of Twister. If your game, have a try. You just need to follow each step on pause. It will be a lightbulb moment because you won’t have to bother threading elastic if you are using the last two methods. Thanks for watching.🙏😊
