It really feels like 10th is gonna go down in the annals of Warhammer lore as the edition where we 100% learned which armies the devs liked and which they don’t.
Honestly, it's pretty obvious that GW likes Chaos, otherwise they would have listened to the consumers when they asked about Fantasy "Hey, how about we destroy the setting you love so much so that Chaos can win?😊" and the players told GW to F off.
It really feels like there's an A-Team and a B-Team with the codex writers. After Sisters and Genestealers (as it's too late to change them), I hope to the God-Emperor that whoever wrote the CSM Codex writes the rest of them, because they did a damn good job of translating lore to rules.
Solution, release one big rules book for core gameplay and definitions/game terminology. This book will be about $70 and include a code to access digital rules. Then release in waves the “codex” flavor books that have lore, paint schemes, strategies, fun flavor stuff, etc. The new miniatures can have lore pages for them explaining why they are added into the game and their purpose. The minis get released along side of the flavor books.

The Core Rules are most often better. Also some armys got great and fluffy rules, so for them there is no reason to go back to their old and stale rules.
This game needs to have digital rules 100% because it will make it easier for people to see what models and army they want to play. Thus making joining the game less daunting to the finances one will have to invest to play a game with their friends.
I've been consoooooming you guys for a while now and my gyatt I love the detective ridiculous, hope you guys keep pumping out content like how DK pumps his... heh peanits...but genuinely hope you guys stay immortal as the people's own silly goofy goobers to laugh at and jorkin buddies. ❤️👅
Bricky is turning 29 this year?! I always thought Bricky was quite older than myself... we're the same age. That is when my hair grayed and my skin shriveled to resemble a chaos tainted raisen.
Doubt anyone at GW will read this comment section, but here's how you wring a steady steam money out of your fans for the next decade without selling people rulebooks and codexes that are almost immediately invalidated by patches resulting from your own screw-ups in the rule-writing department. Bake all the (army) rules into the warhammer+ subscription. 10 bucks a month and you get the full app: all the rules, for all the armies, updated as and when it's necessary. This includes any new editions. No more dumbass giant rulebooks, datasheet cards and codexes with detachments and codexes that, without exception, turn out to be outdated after 1-3 months anyways. I can pretty much guarantee that if the price is fair, people will gladly sub for easy access to the rules and listbuilding tools alone. Any added shows/batreps/whatever that comes with it are just a nice bonus. Make codexes a lore/art book. 80 pages or so of epic short stories, epic art, no rules... BUT! Here's the extra spice added on top: Sell it with a limited edition character mini. That new Sister of battle model coming out with that upcoming book? Absolutely awesome! Gorgeous model! We tend to love most of your lore and stories anyway, so I'll 100% be picking up that combo when it's announced (assuming I manage to nab one). If you make something with that kind of quality to sell along with those newfangled codexes, people will be buying them.
Tau codex was out at the same time than CSM. We also got only four detachemnts, including one for the Kroots, and one for exo-armours that is kinda useless XD
I am fielding a cultist army, and started it since I realized I could with the indexes. They are surprisingly effective in holding objectives and having some many models on the table, many opponents don't have enough firepower to take them off the table.
I can totally see them alternating months with detective and fantasy. They know better than I tho. Just happy to have any content from these guys honestly.
Ork codex was also like this. 3 short 1 pages stories of new stuff that had no storyline greater effects. And the rest was just here’s a description of all the named fine cast characters we just cut from the book
6:38 I listen on a podcast app and I'm coming here in the middle of cooking to say that the "Bricky gets bullied by vtubers, plus sometimes Halo" arc has got me watching other content of his. Speaking to him directly: it is working, the crazy anime ladies are getting you more views, they're not just damaging your self-esteem, and you definitely won't end up with a "proper" vtuber avatar like every other person tangentially related to Mousey inevitably does (it will be a glorious disaster).
T'au also got Four (but really three) detachments, as did the Sisters of Battle and the Genestealers. It's looking like four detachments is the new standard and the various flavours of Space Marine is the exception.
Hearing Bricky describe the scatter dice and templates from 6th and 7th edition makes me curious if he’s ever looked at the Heresy 2.0 rules, which are basically 7th but with changes like Reactions
Bricky sleeps on dread talons. You just need to add noise marines, who force your opponets to take a battleshock test after you shot them. So you force battleshock after you deepstriked near them for -1 ld or -2 if it's raptors. You can actually combine it well, with enough planning it's a good army, but it requires a good pilot.
"I know GW doesn't watch our videos." Are you forgetting when they made an Italian joke about Argel Tal and the Word Bearers when they introduced his new model?
Can confirm that the alpha legion detachment is quite good, barely made it out of my deployment zone by the end of turn 3 because there was 30 cultists and 30 legionaries
I can confirm, DK, I'm a salty Custodes player. The one two punch of the "How dare they put women in my faction?" idiocy and the abysmal state of the codex rules has literally made me shelve my Custodes because I'm tired of dealing with the drama and the boring, sterile gameplay. Fortunately my first army is Guard and I'll at least have a little while before they fuck up THAT codex.
@wolfgangstallionmusic5639 Thanks, dude. I'm hoping too. I don't mean to be that pessimistic asshole, I know there's a chance it'll be good, but I'm just running out of faith in this edition. Honestly, even if we suck performance wise when the codex goes live, I'll still be happy if they include more flavor and variety and at least keep it fun to get my ass kicked (That's practically become my favorite pastime at this point lmao).
GW shrinking everything is unfortunately a problem is other big tabletop spaces lately. Wizards of the Coast started making their Dungeons & Dragons books smaller with less lore, rules, fluff, and art, and in a few instances got caught using AI art in their official books. Not only that they've been splitting what should have been one book into three tinier books, all the same price. You wanted to play in Spelljammer? Cough up over $100 for all the books if you want the monsters, adventures, and new playable races/classes/items, etc. In short, fuck corporate greed, they don't deserve sympathy.
regarding fantasy vs detective, I am super hyped for realm of ridiculous, and i don't usually rewatch detectives, but i think changing it to once every few months would be better than scrapping it, it's still super fun
So excited for some fantasy content. Would love to see some tomb kings lore or a few book clubs! Skarsnik is a great onramp for goblins and riders of the dead is a cool intro for empire kislev and chaos
It's a codex per edition nowadays, but back in nineteen-dickety-two i had to limp through 7th edition as a CSM player with a 5th edition codex. We got a codex supplement eventually, but it was shortly before 8th edition was announced, so it was whatevwr at that point

Shiet which chaos god do you think would be willing to restore my hearing?
Bricky, the drop pod rules you mentioned was kind of wrong. There was the inerial guidance system rule where it will never land on troops or into terrain, it lands just beside it.
As far as I recall drop pods could only be destroyed if they scattered of the table when coming in from reserves in 7th edition, but I will say that I miss template weapons a lot. Some of the detachments or rules also start feeling samey across armies though that isn't a new problem.

Edit: lmao the Sisters mini cliffhanger at the end of thsi episode
Nothing, but often new editions are just easier or more fun to play
@@Iaminyourwalls-fi4dmCore gameplay & mechanically wise? Regardless of army stats/ balance?
I keep telling our group 'let's go back to 9th where we all got all the options unlocked instead of beta testing 10th.' but only two out of the five? I asked wanna play the older edition. Don't think they gave a specific reason as to why though...think that 10 is simpler?
It’s not always true sadly, but that’s the gist from most editions
The Core Rules are most often better. Also some armys got great and fluffy rules, so for them there is no reason to go back to their old and stale rules.
I am so glad Vashtor's getting some love and turning my vehicle focused csm army into just demon center is gonna be awesome 🤩
Damn the Ad Mech codex has already been forgotten...
I make a suggestion to include Warhammer Fantasy novels for book reading club in the future! My first candidate is Gotrek and Felix stories!
That’s hilarious because in 5 days I can legally drink as a 2003 kid
Bricky is turning 29 this year?! I always thought Bricky was quite older than myself... we're the same age. That is when my hair grayed and my skin shriveled to resemble a chaos tainted raisen.
I still want my forgeworld specific rules back for AdMech,
I want my sneaky Stygies bois back.
They’ll do anything to avoid Tau and Kroot.
That hourglass image is dope as fuck. But it's kinda funny because the Lion is going around reconverting the Fallen
Hopefully, our codex will come out more than 3 months before 11th Edition.
@4:55 "June is the best month D.K."
My fujoshi heart: OwO
“People born in 2003 can legally drink now!”
Me, an ‘03 baby with my bottle of brandy:
Now i'm just imagine dk in the corner reading lore for fantasy at skaven speed to try to be ready.
"I know GW doesn't watch our videos."
Are you forgetting when they made an Italian joke about Argel Tal and the Word Bearers when they introduced his new model?
Can confirm that the alpha legion detachment is quite good, barely made it out of my deployment zone by the end of turn 3 because there was 30 cultists and 30 legionaries
June is the bestest, ever since the dark ages of 70's when this bugger was born! Not yet dead (50), but time is running out... :D
Im sorry dude… but there’s hope you get a good codex for guard. Just flip a coin I guess
@@theshamurai32 I understand I dread my codex release too at this point. Lol hopefully they just add enough flavor for it to be fun
DK, your suffering is my favorite part of this podcast. I just wanted you to know.
The month of the beautiful Orchid, don't you believe i have forgotten how bricky did Drag back then
So excited for some fantasy content. Would love to see some tomb kings lore or a few book clubs! Skarsnik is a great onramp for goblins and riders of the dead is a cool intro for empire kislev and chaos
I love this codex...It's just a brewing dream.
2 more Detective EPs, LET's GOOO!!
It's a codex per edition nowadays, but back in nineteen-dickety-two i had to limp through 7th edition as a CSM player with a 5th edition codex. We got a codex supplement eventually, but it was shortly before 8th edition was announced, so it was whatevwr at that point
Detective ridiculous episodes are my favorite episodes 😢
I'm just glad red corsairs are acknowledged to be existing again
LOL Bricky not knowing how Drop Pods worked in 7th. Bro they had stablizers!
Man, if bricky ever played horus heresy he'd have a nostalgia overdose
At least Night Lords having rules that are less effective in a fair fight is lore accurate
Iron Fists do exist funnily enough. Even GW can't keep track of whether they're an Imperial Fists or Iron Hands successor Chapter. It's pretty funny.
For learning fantasy, loremaster of sotek is really good. He has some really good older vids on certain characters or concepts or places. He also has a very nice podcast called lorebeards where he goes Deeep in depth on topics with a warhammer writer, Andy law. Subscribe to lawhammer for the queek video
I kept checking Bricky Ep. 2 to see if Bricky would cover the Codex, great surprise to see him going over it here with the AdRic crew instead :D
Bricky showing how clueless he is with drop pods
22:26 Yeah I was at the LGS last weekend and a new guy was in there learning the game with his Custodes army and another dude walk up to the table and ask him which of the Custodes is female.
Oh no Bricky is younger than me! I feel so old! This is madness, absurdity! And it wouldn't be nearly as bad if I could still effin hear normally. I remember the 1st Detective Ridiculous episode and it was such an excellent surprise. Those videos have been very very interesting because humans don't know enough about their own histories...god I could hear so good back then...your voices and all the sounds from the video. Shiet which chaos god do you think would be willing to restore my hearing?
OK so fantasy becomes a regular thing. Nice.
If anyone sees this: first episode should be sigmar, the lizardmen or Malekith
Or Gotrek and Felix
Episode on Lord Kroak and why he is the coolest dead god stuck on a throne in Warhammer.
@@TheLordofMetroids not a god. Just stronger than most gods.
Also the defense of itza was basically the 30k war in rhe webway, but cooler.
@@ginghinaandrei5013 technically the other Warhammer dead god stuck in a chair is also not a god, unless the Inquisition is nearby.
Bro if they do Gotrek and Felix, they need to bring PancreasNoWork in
Honestly would love to see a Boris Todbringer episode. His feud with khazrak one eye is great.
Welcome to 29 bricky. Our knees hurt.
Unfortunate Detective Ridiculous is getting sent to Legends, will miss it dearly.
So where are the space rats space skavens? Have there been any custom. Warhammer40K space skavin minis made?
Bricky, the drop pod rules you mentioned was kind of wrong.
There was the inerial guidance system rule where it will never land on troops or into terrain, it lands just beside it.
As far as I recall drop pods could only be destroyed if they scattered of the table when coming in from reserves in 7th edition, but I will say that I miss template weapons a lot. Some of the detachments or rules also start feeling samey across armies though that isn't a new problem.
Man I would love some more admech lore videos. Maybe more in depth on forge worlds
Yooo the cultist sound dope
I would love to help keep Detective Ridiculous going.
