Scott, I'm surprised you did not apply Meguiar's Fast Finish, for my car I find it too be the best on interior's. Gives good protection & shows as a nice matte finish. It even helps repel dust, I do my interior maybe once a month & it always looks great. Good video thanks

If people don't like this TH-cam channel! Then don't watch or listen to it or him. I watched some of his detailing videos. My 2004 Concorde LXI limited in exterior white paint and Charcoal leather interior. Looks amazing! Washed it with Boat and RV wash! Then wiped down the panels with 50% liquid tar remover and 90% alcohol sprayed on a Microfiber towel. Then used Mother's Claybar on tbe panels. Next Meguiars Ceramic Hybird wax on a Microfiber sponge. Side to side and Back and forth. Over the whole car. Window's and Chrome rims. Then hit the panels with water for 5 minutes. Wiped car dry. Windows and chrome rims too. With a drying towel. The car looked brand new! A 15 year old car that sits outside all year long. So all you trolls out there. Give his way a try. Then, Run your mouths! It really Works. All his info! Enough Said! Shawn

The spray Trim Shine is a little easier to control but with similar results. Trim shine is great for inside plastics as long it's not an area you touch.

Chemical Guys InnerClean is my favorite right now. It leaves a nice, matte factory look finish to the dash and trim. nice smell as well. I've used all of Meguair's interior products and they all leave a shiny "greasy" finish that seems to attract dirt and dust. Chemical Guys Sprayable Leather Cleaner & Conditioner also works really good on the interior vinyl if you like the finish with a little more depth and shine and it doesn't feel greasy. Thanks for your great videos Scott. I look forward to seeing new ones in my feed.

I have a bunch of glossy black surfaces in my interior. I use interior detailer to clean the dust off and it leaves a little streaking. I saw this and thought I'm going to 1 up you and use ultimate quick wax by meguiars. It was not good at all. Then I used the cheaper "sine as you dry quick wax" by meguiars and it was truly amazing. It left no streaks. It enhanced the feel of it. It gave it a good shine. And I noticed that dust has not collected as fast. What a hack!!!

I clean my cars' interior plastics with LVP Cleaner. I could probably get the same results with an APC, but parts of the plastic have been redyed.
I don't like tire dressings or plastic trim that looks shinier than new or feels greasy. I've tried the Qwik wax on half of my dash found it too glossy, and it attracted dust faster than the cleaned bare plastc did.
My go-to plastic and rubber protectant is Aerospace Formula 303, goofy name) which I had bought originally for outdoor vinyl products. It's water based and a day after applying the dash looks like nothing was applied, no discernable difference in gloss. I can clean it with a lightly misted microfiber towel. Tires, exterior trim, and underhood plastic and hoses treated with this a few times each year still looked good after 11 years of using it on a 2004 Honda Element.
I don't know how your customers would react to a product that doesn't look like it's there, but you might want to test it on your own vehicle.

I put a dressing on the dashboard once a year and it is still shiny and protecting when I renew it. And that was in Miami, Fl. Wases are not good for plastic parts. The best product that I have found for dashboards and door plastic panels is made by Lexol and is called Vinylex Protectant.

Personally I like 303 interior cleaner. Is kind of pricey. After a week of being on the dash is still clean so I figured during the weekly cleaning I just need to spray a little bit and alpha care Pat and just quickly go over the dash not much product will be needed. It's not greasy it does shine in a little bit but it keeps the dash out it's more natural looking color

I had some light blue plastic on my car doors that had white splotches on them (2005 impala cop car that was given to my wife)
I had some mothers back to black and thought what the neck, I will give it a shot.
I have no idea how long it will last but ALL of the white splotchy areas went away.
Just has a bit more shine than I like ... Will see how it does with time.

I finally tried using Quik Wax (an old bottle I bought years ago and never really used until now) on the interior of my car tonight (dash, doors, leatherette seats, etc.) and love it. The rear deck (hard plastic) felt very dried out prior to this (it was very grabby when I massaged the product in with a MF; now it feels much better. I attribute this to it being a 4 year old car that has never been treated. I did this after watching another video of you doing the same, so thank you. My question is, how would you compare Quik Wax to the X-Press Spray Wax? Thanks for all your videos, they've been very informational and helpful to me as a lifelong car enthusiast.

It looks shiny and nice until you drive it under direct sunlight and glare on the windshields. Its vapour also make the windshield foggy. For coating with satin colors, you can use any car polish instead. It keeps the dashboard protected from water and sunlight but not shiny/oily. Ceramic coating is not good because it gives tons or reflections too. I used ceramic coating on the buttons of radio, plastic trims and door handle but not under the windshield. Ceramic coating works better than interior conditioner because it last much longer, cheaper ($3 ceramic coating works fine), and does not leave any residue once it is fully cured.

Nice. It looks good on my phone. I don’t like gloss at all, I prefer it look as close to “off the factory” lot as possible. Do you think any of the dressings help reduce dust build up? I work in construction and in order to keep my vehicle clean i open all the doors and then blow out my vehicle using a rubber tip 150 psi 5.9 CFM. I use the rubber tip just in case I kit something.
Anyway my truck is a 13 f-150 Platinum. The plastic dash has warped just a little and it’s blotchy. I think I’ll try the Magyars product you use. Low gloss and even coverage is ideal.

I use CarPro PERL on the dash. Or I use 303 Aerospace which is SUPER great. It doesn't really darken the dash or any of that, it's just basically UV protection in a bottle, like sunscreen. It's available too me at AutoZone & Walmart. Depending on the condition of the dash depends on what I use. On new dashes, they get 303, on faded plastic it gets PERL. 303 also has to be applied every 1-2 months. Perl obviously lasts a bit longer. I also use perl undiluted.

If there's one thing I hate more than politicians and authority is a neglected car. Still find Product 303 the best; dries non-oily, can be wiped to control gloss, very little vapor re-precipitating onto windows like silicone oils, has left soft vinyl like new after 15 years. Odd aroma from the bottle, but dries odorless. Just tried new ICE interior plastic "cleaner and protectant" - yuck! Cleaning power akin to plain water, who knows if any protection is really going to last, but the Smell reeks and leaves a perfumey residue and lingering aroma days later. Screams "cheap odor coverup" that I was not asking for in treating plastic surfaces. May try it on the engine plastic, but it is nearly unbearable in confined areas. WTF were they thinking?

I wouldn't put anything Too Stinky for you Inside the Car onto Engine plastics, as they can heat-up and release even more when in that Closed environment, Which is also where most of the Smelly Air coming through your Air vents is originally from !
Soo..... mebbe DON'T Put the Odious Smelly Thing in/on the Engine Bay !!

I keep learning new tricks with each video of yours, but I was really surprised by this one. Spray waxes/sealants on the dash? Will try it on my beater project.

Not spray carnuva car wax. This is spray Synthetic WAX. This kind of wax works great on auto dashboards and trim plastic.

Vinylex Protectant does for plastic and vinyl what their leather conditioner does for leather.

How is Maguires Synthetic spray wax different from Protect All? I think they are the same project under different labels.

Slight tangent but I notice some hi-gloss plastic wood (or maybe it's actual wood in a Navigator?) trim. My car (Mercedes) interior is full of hi-gloss piano black plastic that's prone to scratching by even passing dust particles - or so it seems! I wondered if in your experience these surfaces are treated with a clearcoat type protection that can then be corrected? I'd be interested to know how you care for such surfaces in your, and customer, cars? And any product recommendations. Another idea for a quick vid maybe? Thanks for the uploads. Keep up the good work.

I'm pretty strict with my dash. I only use 303 protectant. If it's good enough for 10 million dollar jets, Lamborghini, and Ferrari it's good enough for us. Lol

What would you use for a slightly textured dash, like an '07 Saab 9-3 (just as a random example!)? Black, but not smooth like the one in your video.

Scott, can you answer a question for me? I applied Meguiars Supreme shine ( Wipes ) to my dashboard, following the instructions to the letter. Three months later, the dash still has an oily residue to the touch, and it's fogging up the windshield in the morning. Can you recommend a way of removing this stuff, so I can apply a better quality treatment? Thank you.

What about the classic original dressing, the industry standard: Armor All?

  • @wb5mgr

Biggest thing that I do for my dash as a consumer is not to apply any treatment but to use a $5 reflective insulated window screen which serves both to keep UV rays of the interior of my vehicle for the large part and also drop the inside temps in my vehicle by 20 degrees or more on a summer day here in the Deep South. So worth it just for the second benefit when I get in the vehicle after work.

Fun2 Drive I'm sure your leather is coated leather...No?
If it is, all your doing is wiping a so called conditioner on plastic and it can't penetrate into the leather.

Aye it is - and I dare say you can afford it if you're running a Airplane 😲
Just bear in mind that, by Sales Volumes, most of us Normal folks drive Toyotas and Hyundai *- neither of which knock out Planes !
      * I'll give you Hyundai Do make Industrial & Construction machines, and I dare say you'd want a nice clean window on your Crane - if that was your job! But us, mere mortals, are usually debating whether to use 1lt of Meguires or "Mega-$tores" 5lts for half the Price ! 😓

@@keiranp0dbenn559 yeah well here in Sydney meguiers mothers and 303 are similar in price maybe 2 dollars more for the 303 it's not the areospace one it's interior exterior 303 but I'm guessing it's the same it costs $28 megiurs is 26 and mother's in 28 Australian dollars you do the math not a big difference

hey Scott, Are all these products safe to use on leather dashboards? ... since all leather interiors have some type of color coating or colored plastic coating to protect the leather, the leather's surface is not real leather.
