    Update for the 3 recipes I’ve made so far: Using PEScience protein powder as the base and whole milk.
    1. Peanut Butter Cookie: 1 scoop powder, 1/4 tsp xanthum gum, 2 drops McCormick Mint Extract, top off with whole milk. I ran on ice cream twice, adding just a bit of milk for the re-spin.
    Texture was awesome! 1 drop mint extract would be plenty. 2 drops gives it an equal mint/peanut butter flavor, but almost over shadows the Peanut Butter. It was really good regardless!
    2. Chocolate Mint Cookie: 1 scoop powder, ¼ tsp xantham gum, 4 drops mint extract, top off with whole milk. I ran on Sorbet twice, adding just a bit of milk for the respin.
    Texture was literally like soft serve ice cream from a restaurant and taste just like thin mint cookies :)
    3. Gourmet Vanilla: 1 scoop powder, ¼ tsp xantham gum, 1 tbps peanut butter powder, whole milk. First spin was ran on ice cream. I then made the hole in the center and topped off with Butter Finger Bits, just a dab of milk, and re-spun on ‘mix-in’.
    The PEScience PB flavor is tasty, just not near strong enough for me. The Great Value brand of Peanut Butter powder I got really adds to the PEScience and really brings the flavor full circle. Definitely recommend PB powder with the PB protein powder. Real PB just 'wasn't there', the powder did the trick :)
    It turned out exactly like a Dairy Queen Butter Finger Blizzard. I put half in a bowl, then made a hole in the center of the Creami cup and filled with more Butter Finger Bits, ½ tsp PB powder, and ran another ‘mix-in’. OMG, incredible!
    I recommend using blue painters tape (won’t leave a residue when removed) to label lids when mixing multiple pints. Of my 3, they all smelled the same, and 2 were the same color lol! I wasn’t sure which was mint and which was peanut butter with mint :)
    My next recipes will be 1, Gourmet Vanilla with mint extract and a drop or 2 of green food coloring...2, Vanilla with chopped up Snickers Mini's... 3, Peanut Butter Cookie with Butterfinger Bites and some PB powder, yummy!
    Considering the cost of DQ and McD’s Flurries, you can make 1 a day for 30 days and your Creami has paid for itself. 1 pint container is about 2 servings. Well, it should be, I eat it all at once though!
    I bought 4 pack of pint containers as well which will be really nice being able to make multiple recipes at once, or when knowing friends or family will be coming over. Having 6 different flavors to choose from will be handy.
    Having 3 vanilla’s made, spin them up, divide them in half, and you now have 6 individual servings to make as mix-in re-spins, heckuva value!!!

    If you freeze the ice cream without the top on, the mound is much smaller. Also, if you run the sides of the pint container under hot water for 40 seconds, you can avoid the ice around the sides. Lastly, the "Re-spin" function is designed for the second spin. It's much faster as it assumes you have already done the initial processing.

  • @IaneHowe
    @IaneHowe ปีที่แล้ว +13

    That's exactly why I bought the creami. I normally scrape the sides with a knife before respin. Also flatten the mound in the center first so it doesn't damage the blade with time.

    • @LowCalNinja-qf4ye
      @LowCalNinja-qf4ye  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I sometimes scrape the edges too, depends how icy things look and feel. Personally, I haven't found any need to scrape down the mound. My understanding is the blade issues only happen when the pint was unlevel.

    My PEScience was delivered today :) I got the Vanilla, Chocolate Mint Cookie, and the Peanut Butter Cookie. I mixed up some Chocolate Mint and a Peanut Butter Cookie with 1/4 tsp xantham gum and Vit D Whole milk.
    I added 2 drops of McCormick Mint Extract to the Peanut Butter one and 4 drops to the Chocolate Mint. The Peanut Butter powered I ordered won't be here til Saturday, and that should enhance the PEScience powder a bit.
    The taste test before putting in the freezer, they were both really good. My first reaction was 'Wow, that's really good!'.
    For mix-in's, I got some Butterfinger Bits and Snicker Mini's. Those Butterfinger Bits are gonna make that PB ice cream amazing! I'll update tomorrow when I get them spun up :)

    7:50, It can damage the blade because it's just locked loosely in, which then, if the bump is too big, causes the blade to go down at an angle, hitting the sides of the pint and damaging the pints, causing plastic to end up in the ice cream, and also damaging the motor because it'll force it into an angeled angle.

    I love it when people post their experiments! I like how concise yours is. A few days before this video I just purchased some PEScience protein samples. My previous powders were Quest and KOS. So funny. I like the casein blends, but didn’t realize that was part of the creaminess. Good to know! I just got my ninja creami breeze a few weeks ago so I’ve been experimenting. My husband and I are addicted to this stuff, but I really need to keep the calories low to maintain my weight. I track my food so depending on what I eat, I can definitely fit some in. I decided to skip the mix ins because the calories for that really add up so I just put a tiny bit on top.just curious to know what your favorite vanilla protein is? That would be a fun video. Everybody seems to be stuck on a brand because they are affiliated, but it would be good to know an unbiased opinion. Chocolate too. I love KOS vegan chocolate, but does it do well as a creami? I’ve made it, but forgot. Anyway, just rambling away……

      I'm gearing up to do a few videos like that. What's the best vanilla powder? Chocolate? etc. I bought a crazy amount of other powders since recording this initial video. :)
      Probably the first in this series(?) is going going to be about Cinnamon powders and other flavors you can make with Cinnamon protein.
      Right now, my favorite Vanilla is actually a Dymatize Vegan blend (amzn.to/3KmAcet). It does need a hint of sweetness or something though...I'm still figuring that out. It's got this smooth texture and super clean vanilla flavor without any weird aftertastes.
      Dymatize's Vegan chocolate (amzn.to/3rPgKRf) is very good too, but PEScience Select Chocolate Truffle (amzn.to/3rPgKRf) is my favorite chocolate. I toss in a Tbsp of dark coco powder and then use the recipe shown in this video. It never disappoints!

    Another question, what about using water instead with protein? I did 8 oz water, 1 scoop quest salted caramel protein, and 7 gram jello brand sugar free butterscotch pudding mix. It was very creamy, but I mixed it too much and it got a bit melted. I found the butterscotch flavor a bit strong.

    • @LowCalNinja-qf4ye

      I've tried that and the texture just isn't as good. It's more icy and feels more like an Ice Cream substitute than the real thing....and at the low cost of ~80 calories for the almond milk, I think it's worth it.

    Can you give the weight of the scoop of protein powder? From the video it looks like around a quarter of a cup. Here in Australia, scoops are different sizes. Powders that I have vary from 25 grams to 50 grams.

    • @LowCalNinja-qf4ye
      @LowCalNinja-qf4ye  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It varies with the brand. I would recommend doing whatever is on the label if it comes in around 150 cal.
      I didn't get to it in this video, but if the brand's shake recipe recommends that it be mixed with 5-6 ounces of water (and not 8-12), then it's generally not going to have a strong enough flavor for the whole pint. So look at the instructions for making a shake to inform how much to put in too.

      You can give it a try, but you're not really saving any dishes using the creami to mix it. An immersion blender just makes it all so easy. Clean-up is mostly just running the blender in soapy water for a few seconds + a wipe down.
      You're going to need something a bit more than just the PB powder for flavor--it just won't have any sweetness at all. I think it'd be fine texture wise (assuming you use a 1/4 tsp of gum), but you're just not going to need to add some sort of sweetner.

      I prefer gums. They're a bit weird since most people have never used them before, but once you try it it's super easy.
      The gums don't add any flavor and just a tiny bit thickens it up, meanwhile you need to pair up pudding flavor with whatever flavor you're making.
      Both work, but I think gums are the best tool for the job unless you're looking for the extra flavor that the puddling provides.

    Why do you choose not to use the re-spin setting for the 2nd spin?

      Respin seems to be at a lower power level. Whenever I hit respin it seems to be at ~50% of the power or speed as the first spin.

      It's 1/4 tsp. You can sub out for whatever stabilizer you'd like.

      @@LowCalNinja-qf4ye I did some digging and turns out guar gum might be a slightly better alternative. Either way, it's a pretty small quantity as you said... Probably not too bad

    Those coffee creamers have nasty ingredients, I'd recommend sugar free pudding mix. It has better ingredients and adds to the texture.
