Been watching your videos, and not sure what option to get. Any advice right now on what large scale 3d Resin Printer to buy? I'm looking at the Phrozen Sonic because it can do a 12" x 12" space, and that's what I need. It appears the Elegoo Jupiter is just slightly too small, and the Epax is pricier. I'm located in Canada. Thanks for any help.

I bought the peopoly phenom last year 2021 and i absolutely love it . I had 2 small creality resin printers before i bought the phenom and they were great but the build volume was too small thats why i bought the phenom . The phenom runs like a mack truck and sounds like one 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It is a well made and engineered machine it so easy to use. I watched your unbox and review before i bought it . I also seen it in on other youtube channels and wanted it from the first time i seen it your review sold me on it completly . The peopoly phenom makes a perfect print every time for me . Thanks for your review on it and all the other 3d printers out there you keep me up to date . Happy creating ........

Thanks Uncle Jessy for the Patreon shout out. I have the Phrozen Transform and the fans do run when on, but at a lower speed. Then when you print they speed up and get pretty loud. I like the fact that they run at a lower speed when not printing because I have mine vented outside. And the fan helps keep fumes out of the room.

You'd be better off with the transform. Jessy has bad wifi - my network connectivity is flawless on mine - and its SO much easier to just send the file to the PC rather than save it onto a usb drive then go plug that into the machine. The Transform prints larger, weighs less, and has better features. It also DOES work w Chitubox. I think Jessy hasn't really dug into it since he got it. Plus the Phenom is 50% heavier meaning youll pay more for shipping

I'm glad that I watched the final few seconds before posting, which answered a question that I have about the FEP film that they come with. The Elegoo Mars comes with, and is designed around, a 0.127mm FEP film, but I have found that a perfectly leveled build plate with this film usually causes a build failure. The failure usually occurs around the 4-5mm layer, due to the suction of the film against the LCD panel, and it's rigidity, as the film is too close to the LCD, and it is not able to flex enough to allow a safe separation of the print from the film.
On the Elegoo Mars, there are 2 ways to fix this, 1) increase the distance between the LCD and the film using tape on the left & right edges, 2) use a thinner FEP film. Since the plate area is small, I go with #1 on a new printer, and #2 once I need to replace the FEP film. Both work, and I have never had a failed print when using either method. However, the Transform and the Phenom have a build plate that is 4-6 times larger, so I doubt that option #2 would be a good idea, as the thinner FEP film would probably not stand up to the higher suction.
Have you tried using the tape method to just slightly raise the tray away from the LCD? I have a feeling that it would prevent the issue completely. ENJOY!!!

I believe the term Plates gives from the old days of first generation stereo lithography where they used actual physical plates (transparencies or otherwise) to mask each layer. It's kibda cool that they show the individual masking layers (plates) on screen as it prints.
Also, I've found that rebooting the Phrozen Shuffle Lite reestablishes wifi when it goes out. The UI looks identical between the transform and the shuffle lite, so you may have the same success on rebooting.

Great content as always, thanks Uncle Jessy!! I got the Elegoo Mars because of you and it's an awesome printer but definitely looking forward to more larger volume printers. Is most of the resin still pretty toxic? That's my only con with these resin printers so far, other than the cleaning process heh. I know Elegoo worked on a water washable resin but I doubt that means less toxicity. Just moved houses so haven't gotten back into printing but looking forward to it. Living vicariously through you hah.

I was having general connection problems in my man cave so I put another router down there in extender mode and it made all the difference! I can sit upstairs and send files to the Transform with no problem. Also I use Chitubox with the Transform. Simply save the file in a zip format that Chitubox supports and the Transform handles it just fine.

Hello. I enjoyed this review, very thorough. However, perhaps I've missed something (I'm fairly new to 3D printing), but I was wondering why the Photocentric Pro LC hasn't been mentioned. It's a resin printer with a far bigger build volume than either of the above machines, whilst other specs seem comparable, and it's similarly priced to a Form 3. It's available to buy here in the UK. Isn't it available in the US?

Awesome review for both of those. I have the Epax X10 and am super happy with it. Looking at getting a bigger Epax X series printers. The build plate for the phenom looks the same as the build plate on the Epax X10 but the Epax has an angled build plate available for resin drain off. The difference might be in size but Epax has bigger printers available which should have the angled build plate to match.

Great video brother! Just as a couple tips with regard to the Phrozen Trabsform: the WiFi is impossible to connect to unless you change your WiFi name, which forces your transform to relocate it. I connected on the first try after renaming. Downfall is I had to reconnect everything in my house to the new WiFi. Also, you will have to have the WiFi connection or Ethernet connection on the transform in order to upload files and to change resin profiles. You’ll have failed prints right and left until you can alter the resin profiles. The USB ports on the Phrozen are also not soldered to the case, which can cause the usb to push in and potentially break. Just saying the bad with the good. Once you get the hang of it, the transform is a beautiful machine though. Thanks for doing this head to head, I’ve been waiting for it for awhile now.

Now that you have been testing those two fat bed printers for a few months, can you make us a video of your post printing setup for such big size models ? From what I have been able to understand, scaling up means you can't rely on the same tools to wash and cure your prints because uhhh they're HUGE ! Yes, you can wash minifigs in a pickle jar full of isopropyl and use a nail curing station, but here we're closing to industrial level gear... Can we even rely on consumer ultrasound cleaners for that print size? How have you managed ? What equipment have you chosen?

I love your videos but something is wrong with your Transform. I am posting this to correct some inaccuracies. First, the transform DOES work with Chitubox. Its literally the only program I use. This is due to Chitubox adding support for the Transform. You just save it as a .zip not a .chtu (or whatever their file extension is.) and the transform can read it. You are correct that the resin profile in the printer can override Chitu, so I set Chitu and transform both to the same profile. This is an asset however, as the machine saves multiple profiles so I can swap resins and not really have to fiddle with chitu settings if i don't want. For example, if I want to print something in two different resins, I dont have to go back and edit the stl, I can just tell the transform to use the other resin profile. Your unit may be older. I got mine 2 weeks ago and the wifi connectivity works flawlessly - ive never had to use the USB drive. Transform did do a firmware update. It doesn't change much but the buttons are more responsive. I feel like you rushed this video and didn't take a fresh look at the Transform, instead relying on your earlier review. Yes, I guess if you don't want to/cant use network connectivity, reaching around is a minor annoyance, but I cant understand you recommending the Peopoly based on that. Lets review your review: You're recommending we buy a printer that doesn't have any network capability, has a smaller build volume, and is 50% heavier? Because you like the window? OK Man, I guess. To each their own but, for my money, the Transform has better features. Let go of the whole USB thing and fix your home wifi network. Mine works really well. Lastly and , most importantly, while I disagree with you here, I love everything else you've posted. Keep the great content coming! thanks!!

This is really cool! Good comparison!
And I have only a Anycubic Photon.
I now have an idea of what to get next, but I am a bit concerned of the life of the LED matrix. What do you think about that?
I try to learn a lot from you and do a channel myself.

Would love to see a video by you on what resins you've found work best for what printers, especially for cost. I've been trying to find a resin that works better than elegoo but is cheaper than the peopoly resins for my phenom.

Hi, do you think the Peopoly is reliable enough to use for "mass production" of game miniatures? Thank you!

@Daniil Sanders Hi thank you. I was thinking more about small scale minis max hight 1 1/2 inch (4cm). I know print them on FDM printers wich works fine. One of those could get me more minis in the same time. I am just not sure if they can replicate the same quality every time. I bought some minis printed on a Elegoo mars, they looked great but all had slightly warped bases.

Great video between these 2 printers. I've been trying to decide which one I want to save up for. There has been one thing I was curious about and that was the resins used. I was reading that the Phenom would probably only be able to use its own name brand resin while the Transform would be able to use most commercial resins.

When I looked they were coming out the the phenom L so I ended up getting that and Im so happy! Came in yesterday and Ill be doing my 1st print today (little nervous since im new to resin printing) all my other printers are fdm. But again thank you so much for making this.

Big question!, whos information is wrong about the phenom build size, Matterhackers and propoly list as, 276mm x 155mm x 400mm, is 144mm the correct size or 155mm???

    • @CSebaC
      @CSebaC 4 ปีที่แล้ว

The correct size is listed in the specs on their site. The specs in chitubox are wrong. At least they were so the prints were really accurate because of that.

I got the transform and think it's great. Looks like they are both rather evenly matched. I have not had issues with wireless yet. But I will say the reason I leaned to the transform over the phenom is history. I have moai and it's great... But peopoly seemed to drop support and development on the moai when the phenom came to light. Leaving a hole in the moai consumer base and leaves questions for me about the future support for the phenom.
