The Grey with the Silver roof is Gorgeous. It doesn't have to be red.

I have always loved the old barns. So much so that last fall I built a barn/shed in my back yard complete with a crows beak and a loft. I did mine red with white trim and a green roof. Yours is going to look fantastic when it is done. That old wood is going to soak up a lot of paint.
The hip roof barn that my grandfather built north of Unity in 1918 still stands strong. The lumber for it cost $800. It would of been all built of fir lumber from BC

Looks awesome i love the square with the weathervane on top that just screams 1800s barn and i love old bsrns . I see a 80 wide by 140 ft long barn from 1800s only nails were square nails used for shingles and siding the main structure was all joints hand cut to fit perfect and wood dowels drilled and pounded in to lock everything together 150 to 175 yrs later still no leaks not a creak or noise from the barn and doors still work easily and same as they did the say it was built. Dont see craftmanship like that anymore

Yes, that is a beautiful roof - the building will now last another 50 years!! but does need a new coat or red paint, right now its kind of the 'brown barn', only the 'red barn' if I squint real hard.
I’m planning on putting red tin on it later on to further prevent the barn from deteriorating so I’m preemptively calling it the big red barn lol.

I know that you have been saying that you have barn cat's we have a fairl momma cat that adopted us and we can get our hands all over her and she always comes in our house to eat and sleep and then she will go to the door to go outside
May I give you a suggestion if you run out of names for your goats or calves. I took this idea from Brent Butt of CornerGas fame. He named some of the characters on the show after Saskatchewan towns. That would give your animals a real Saskatchewan connection. Or just disregard this suggestion and keep doing whatever you are doing. Cheers from Regina.
