- With the demise of the NSX, the TL 6-speed soldiers on as the quickest vehicle in the Honda/Acura line-up until the RLX Sport-Hybrid goes on sale. Those of you looking for a hidden gem should pick up a remaining 2014 model before they're all gone.

they’re hard to find because they’re so valuable. they’re valuable because there weren’t many made but also it’s one of the most bulletproof cars ever made. everything about it is great and strong.
Don't these V6 acuras burn oil? Even in the Mdx's??
@@area859 No, Mine is 20 years old and takes a long time to burn oil. the key is the 6spd. auto is garbage. as in get one. swap it
@@area859 Yes, the J37 was very notorious with burning oil. i have a '12 6mt with only 75K miles and luckily it doesn't burn any oil but most of them did.

These TLs w/ a 6-speed manual are VERY HARD to find
Ashwin Thiagarajan I found mine out of pure luck and I'm very glad I snatched it up. Mine is a 2012 and I already got a Takeda intake and EndlessRPM Cat-back. I can't recommend this car enough.
***** try dyno-ing the car. U might be in the illusion that it doesn't have enuff power. If there isn't enuff power, maybe try an ECYLU tune. Ask professionals tho

Only 5 % of buyers opt for manual.
I didn’t even bother looking for one when I shopped for mine. Partially because I wanted (and got) an Advance package, which didn’t have the manual available.

How is/was the oil consumption issue on it? I know this was 3 yrs ago...
@Presa Jo I heard all they do is replace it with the same part #'s... There hasn't been an update.
What did you run for oil?

great car,too bad the engine isnt as reliable as the 3.5
Love my 3.7 6 speed 215k miles I use mobile one synthetic oil .
reason being for the notchier feeling with the V6 Accords and TL's is because the design of the trans is shift by cable rather than regular forks
I just bought the 2012 version of this car, and I absolutely love it! I'm still getting used to it though, because it's my first manual car. I traded in my 2007 TL base towards it, and it's a night and day difference.

+Tcho2100 More than that. I average about 22mpg in mixed driving. So about 370 miles per tank.

i just installed a Takeda Short Ram Air Intake on my 2012, and omg the sound it makes it amazing.
3800lbs is not too bad considering how bloated it looks. I'd love one of these with a supercharger.
I like my 6spd TL SHAWD any day but the best feel happens on a curve at 100mph and rides like its on rails.

07-08 type s are one of my loves also. Could you imagine if they did those with an AWD 6MT? Omg! I'm loving my 2012 SH-AWD 6MT a lot though.

Awesome review! I owned a 2010 V6 SH-AWD for 4 years and enjoyed every kilometer! Its a beast of a car and gives great bang for the buck! Im heading towards the new TLX V6 SH-AWD, but of course disapointed to lose my quad pipes (hell, all pipes) and lowered performance specs... but hey, im not a merc or bwm fan... q50, meh... Was great seeing you give your opinion and seeing same conclusions as I had... I would recommend to anyone on the used market for sure! awesome car (just a gas guzzler for sure)! anyways, great reviews amigo! youre talented! keep going!

The 6 speeds had a 3rd gear synchro issue, fixed by replacing the 3rd gear set. The chattering on the automatic was also fixed by a pcm software update.

These 6MTs had a huge problem where they jumped out of gear. People had to use a whole different fluid to correct the issue and Acura still hasn't admitted fault. That and the 5AT with the TC chatter. Not sold on Acuras anymore, they used to be awesome especially with the 3G TL but I really don't know where they're headed.
+Djonkie Bonk The 3rd gen had more issues than than the 4th gen. Let's not forget the 04-06 TL automatic transmissions randomly breaking.
I'm original owner of 2010 6MT, like it so much I recently had minor body work done because I'm probably NEVER going to sell it. With 75,000 mi never had ANY mechanical issues of any kind, it's pure pleasure to drive under any conditions. Only neg is nasty blind spot in side mirror, have adapted to that. Might replace it with NSX when don't need kid seats any more, otherwise keeping.
I've owned an 05 6MT and now a 10 6MT, the 05 was bullet proof for 80k miles only needing an alternator. The 2010 has been solid for the 25k miles ive had it for, and i redline it every gear.

I have a 4G 6MT and I am plagued by the delay valve that prevents the clutch engaging. This car has been modified! PLEASE...can you tell us if you changed the slave or master cylinder? Plate? Clutch?
The 2004 and 2005 TLs came with the six speed manual option.
+abdub7 The 3rd gen TLs (2004-2008) were available with a 6-speed manual, but for 2007-2008, only the Type-S was available with the manual.

Looks aside, which of course is subjective, this HAS to be the best car Acura has ever produced. In terms of performance, specs, technology and overall road feel. As an ex Honda/Acura salesman in CA, I know people (still) are loyal to the prev generation of TL, but the interior looks and feels very plasticky and kinda like a warmed-over Accord. ESPECIALLY as compared to this Generation. I just wish Acura would build another 2 door, RSX replacement with a 6-spd Manual and an screaming 4 cylinder to tear up Hwy 17 on the way to Santa Cruz from the valley.... ;)
+1970borntorun While I agree with you on the great quality of the 4th generation's interior, the 3rd generation's was pretty good too. Lots of soft touch surfaces, and all of the aluminum trim is real.
the RSX chassis is crap the last good two-door coupe to come out of Acura stopped production in 2001 it was the Integra that is what everybody should be wishing for is a 2500 pound simple chassis with Wishbone suspension all around no b******* and then throw a k20a2 and a thing that would be cool and consistent

Actually, to the contrary; this is one of the worst cars they ever made. This car has a notorious 3.7 V6 that is an oil guzzler. Acura has been slammed by the public for it, it's so bad that they abandoned the engine in 2014. It's literally garbage; unfixable.

I didn't get the CTS nor the TL I ended up with a 2012 g37 sport instead and I don't regret it. But I'm not gonna lie I do go crazy when I see the TL sh-awd. lol

I get about 22 to 23 MPG combined. That's mostly highway driving. Good luck finding one of these it took me two years to find my 2011 TL with the 6MT

Well it’s system sends all of the power to whichever wheel has the most traction if I’m not mistaken kind of like Subaru

think again its a beast when its young and brand new... after 50,000 miles though the engine feels "old" and loses its super-powers.

I'm thinking of trading my 2003 bmw 530i ( no, really! lol ) for an 09 TL SH-AWD but am worried that the steering will feel like a video game ( too light ) compared to my car...
+1970borntorun I was worried about that too. I have a 2012, and the steering is light at lower speeds but it firms up at higher speeds, which I really like. Also, even when it is light at those lower speeds, it still has good road feeling to it.

That's about right I'm getting 22 or 23 MPG combined with mostly highway driving. 11 TL 6MT

+Tcho2100 300 HP was impressive around 10 years ago. Now most 6 cylinders sedans in this class has around 330 HP.

The older Q50/60 (328HP), BMW 340i (320HP but underrated) and up (335i can be included as well since it's underrated by BMW), Audi A6 (V6) (333HP) supercharged like the S4 and there's more on the list too. Acura sadly fell behind in terms of power sadly. I just sold my TL and looking for a third generation TL-S with 286 HP with a stick which was pretty decent back in 2007.

I have an 09 and when i went to buy it had a lot full of TLs to choose from. AWD, FWD and all colors. And all were Auto. The salesman even told me they dont make them in stick. I told him dont let your boss hear you say that. He didnt know much about the car he was selling. But yea I wish I mines was stick also.

neither save up and buy a NSX then throw a turbo kit on it do it real clean and then 10 years from now it would still be worth as much or more than you bought it for. you'll never see any Nissan or Infiniti with the same sort of resale power. a true Equity car unless you're a dumbass and you beat the s*** out of it and ruin it and remember it's an aluminum monocoque chassis so if you get in a car accident I don't care what kind of damage you get your going to be paying a pretty penny to get it professionally fixed so suck it

It's one of the best actually.
I have a 2013 WRX STI at just under 400 hp and with traction control off I can do a 4 wheel burnout... doesn't mean the AWD systems ins't good. It's one of the best in the world with a mix of electronic and mechanical Torsen differentials.
I can also launch it on ice no problem.
The SH-AWD is pretty kickass. At 100 hp you would have a point, but at 300+ you have to modulate power or leave traction control on.

WOW this is a 2010 TL and the interior looks garbage, my mom has a 2011 accord and it looks basically the same.
You're right about the resemblance... but thats where it stops. The TL has a way more refined/premium quality feel interior. I was comparing my 2010 TL while shopping, with a 2014 accord, and still, the accord just dosent stack up... But yes, definitely close, and yes very similar in design. Just wouldnt stoop it down to the accord's level, that would be a lie.
***** I agree, I have a 09 and my friend has a 10 accord. You can see they were made by the same people but it doesnt look the same at all. At all. The TL interior looks like it should, more expensive. Finer materials, better seats, and the stereo, nice.
