@@princeswagger1ableoh yes, it burns oil… so for me, i am going to get a tesla next bc of mpg… i drive 100 miles a day and gas is car payment itself so i am converting. MPG is bad but it’s 3.7 and has 305 horses so it’s not too bad… i love the looks and how quick it is… i’ll be sad when i let this one go… now i have 161000 lol
This generation Acura TL is one of the best they’ve built over the years. The 6-speed automatic transmission in this thing was a game changer. It’s quick, precise, and is always ready to play. And the two engines are pretty much 99% the same with some exceptions. Mainly the 3.7L V6 has VTEC on both the intake and exhaust valves, has a larger piston stroke, Nikasil cylinder liners, and larger throttle body and intake manifold compared to the 3.5L V6. Both are great choices but… the 3.7L is plagued by excessive oil burning after about 50,000 miles. This is due to the piston rings getting gunked up by carbon. And is accelerated if the owner doesn’t let the engine warm up on a cold start, and doing a ton of short trips.
Love you brother I take all the advice since I both one Iv had it for 3-4 days now and it fast bro I’d dust a lot of cars on the road when it’s in sport it’s always ready to go hopeful it stays good 😅 I do let it warm up , what oil should I use ? And I put 93 in it and 92 , 93 feels faster tho , btw Jesus does for our sins if you believe in him God will give you everlasting life
@ Much love and respect Fam. And like you said these cars are deceptively quick! And the car should stay good as long as you take good care of her. Like you said, let her warm up for about 1min-5min depending on the weather outside. The colder it is outside the longer you let warm up. And use the highest octane gas ⛽️ you can find, but no lower than 91. And for the love of god please service the transmission. I do a simple drain and fill every 11 months…. mainly because I drive a lot. Finally, use the best oil for your engine and change it every 3k to 5k. Use the Valvoline Restore and Protect oil to get rid of the gunk that builds up over the years. Any other questions please let me know! Bless!
My son has the exact same 2014 with the A-Spec kit. The only upgrade we’ve done is a K&N drop in filter, JDM performance chip and XLR8 full cat to back. Along with using only Shell 93, it drives amazing!
I own one of these in the 2012 SHAWD, bought new. It is indeed a performer, but those 3.7 L engines, ALMOST ALL of them burn oil beginning around 70k-100k due to a faulty piston oil ring configuration. At 47K, you don’t have that problem just yet, but it WILL begin to burn oil at a high rate as the miles increase. The 3.5 L front wheel drivers don’t have this problem.
@@dynamicdrives not all develop it and many were covered for a rebuild under their warranty, early oil change intervals have kept mine low despite no rebuild and high mileage. it isnt make or break to me, topping off a little bit of oil once ever other month doesnt change my love for this car.
Do 2 oil changes each year regardless of K - I started using 1/2 quart Lucas oil stabilizer each oil change and replace your PCV valve every 30K. It definitely improves the oil consumption issue.
@@lornestein7248I change the oil at 50% . The PCV change and oil stabilizer also helps. I don’t have oil consumption issue and I’m at 150,000 kilometres.
mine is 140k km, and i just learn that both camshaft are garbage and it consume 4l/5000km of oil. i'm really sad because everything else is tight and solid. it's a 5000$ job so i'm not doing it
Clean ride. The 3.5, which I own has the best engineered engine. Like the others said, it has the oil burning issue. Seems like this would have been a recall. 45K...thats very low mileage.
@AcuraPerformance I've been eyeballing your channel. Cool content. I've recently become a new owner of a 4th gen SH-AWD manual. What would you suggest as far as the most transformative upgrades
@@the_anton_kabanov nice! Congratulations on your unicorn. It’s definitely worth keeping forever. Do you have an Instagram account? I can send you more links and information easier lol.
I don't think it's confusing. It's common sense. You got your temperature controls for the driver and passenger and in the middle. You have your radio functions. I mean I don't know everybody says that about this car.
What I meant was, I thought it was a little strange to divide the climate controls with fan speed/sync/mode buttons on the driver's side of the dash, and then defrost/recirculation/AC buttons on the passenger's side of the dash. Maybe it is somewhat nitpicky to comment on, but I thought it was worth noting. Most automakers put those buttons all together in one space. It doesn't mean it's a bad car or a bad interior, I like the TL's design overall.
When u get a luxury car, every car is pretty much confusing.Thats the gift the curse and the beauty. You get to get the owners manual and FIGURE IT OUT YOURSELF 💯
Not sure if you know this or not but it is actually designed to be able to compete with infinity Mercedes BMW it's a secret! Real talk though what I told you was actually true🎉
Have the same 2014 TL SHAWD Advance Pkg... it's amazing car for even in 2024!! I have about 155k and there is no problems!!
no oil burning? i have the ‘12 3.5 but like they’ve said no burning it runs like a top. MPG is trash tho

Come to Toronto 🇨🇦 and review my 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD 6 speed manual. It’s a night and day difference from a stock to modified version.
The manual transmission transforms the driving experience. Try to drive one of those.
A few bolt ons and a tune is a game changer.

Its decent in sports mode as well with the paddle shifts
If only the j37 was as durable as the j35.
piston rings
3.7L burns oil crazy bad. 3.5L slightly slower but 100% reliable. With some simple bolts and a tune it’s just as fast

It does compete with those minus the performance.
Why is everything so surprising? Acuras are known for good performance.
