Ur taking measurements are different..first time i hearing this ratio...we r using ratio 4:1 & soak for 3 hrs only..anyway ur idly became look like soft..definitely we wil try..👍

The consensus ratio is nowadays, as per many youtube mami's, it is 1:3 and adding little flattened rice or poha/aval. Some are suggesting adding chovvarishi or sabu dhana to get the white colour. Your very valid tip is add very little water to urad dal and for rice add more water. What is wrong if we add salt while grinding the rice.

Hi, when the ingredients list are displayed, it is mentioned as idlirice/parboiled rice. Parboiled rice is puzhungal arisi right, but when you say the instructions, 2 r 3 times you say as pacharisi(which is raw rice). Is that an idli pacharisi? Also, can we use normal rice , which V use for cooking? Thanks for sharing.
Idly rice is half boiled not raw rice. Puzhangal arisi is boiled even more. That is the reason we dont use normal idly rice when we are fasting, instead we use raw rice idly or dosa at fasting time.
Sir, usually I make idly in 4:1 ratio.. just gave this 2:1 ratio a try. Idly was fluffy and soft.. I made it for dinner and had one left over Idly, next morning also softness was retained.

I moved to Germany and as I don't know cooking well , it never tasted like what my mom made.
