I always believed Kikyo to be the way she was because she could only hold on to the most resentful and vengeful part of her soul. The rest went back to Kagome. In a way it is admirable that she was still that kind with Kohaku or those children despite it.

They were probably one of the dumbest couples I've ever seen. I mean, it was obvious that they were going to be canon from the start, but the writer just HAD to put in all this drama and then have a shitty ending. Suddenly, Ryuu stopped liking Minori and fell in love with Taiga. Minori was being a lil' bitch and didn't go talk to Ryuu because of the friendship crap. I was actually rooting for Ami for a while, and she had no excuse for not confessing to Ryuu sooner. At least Minori actually HAD an excuse for not telling him how she felt. And Taiga... she's the only one who had a good reason to fall in love with Ryuuji. But then they were like 'let's get eloped', tried to run away, decided to come to their senses and then Taiga just ditches everyone. What the heck was that. I mean, the manga may have more to it than that but they could've ended it on a better note.

Koryn Flanagan There's more development between Natsu and Lucy than Natsu and Lisanna; besides, childhood friends or not, they barely interact in the anime and, as the two lead roles, you can expect Natsu and Lucy to get together eventually.
I think Keiko and Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho should have made it at least to the honorable mentions. I love those two!!!! That's just my opinion though.
Number 4= meh. Their interactions form so little of the total screen time, and we see so little of Julia's personality and character that I think I prefer Spike and a cardboard box together.
It's not the quantity of their time on screen together. It's the quality of the impact it left on the viewers and themselves. So I say this with the highest form of respect... If it didn't leave a huge impact on you? That's fine. But for me and many others, it's a great set of Anime characters as a couple and one of the most tragic Anime romance moments.

I wanted to discuss a certain honorable mention: Naruto and Hinata. what makes them a good couple? seriously. what? it's the perfect example for one sided love. sure, Hinata loves Naruto for a long time, but vice versa? not really. he treats her as a good friend, but not a love interest. at all the times he might sees her stand up for him because she loves him, he just either too dense or too busy to notice it. I don't say they son't love each other. the maybe, probably love each other. enough to end up married and having two kids together. but it doesn't make them good couple. their story isn't told to us well, so they shouldn't get a place. I can believe them ending up together, but not appreciate this reunion. maybe if the story was told to us, then they might be a good couple. but it's OK, since we're not reading Naruto for the romance, but for the bromance. OH, what's that? The Last, Naruto the Movie tells us about their hooking up? well, it's also a bad romantic movie. seriously, it comes of more as an excuse as to why they are together, and less a compelling love story...

You know, like a HEALTHY relationship. Where things are based on mutual trust and NOT control.

Kagome has proven time and time again that she does not trust InuYasha in the slightest, and she actively enjoys using the Beads to abuse and humiliate him, as well as treat him like her personal therapy bag. Kagome does nothing to master her powers or develop new abilities, relying chiefly on the others to do things for her. And she constantly takes off whenever she's in a bad mood and leaves the others in the lurch to wait for her. I honestly feel that the main reason InuYasha put up with that because, given the life he had led, he honestly didn't think he could have or even deserved anything better. He had been lonely and miserable for who knows how long before meeting Kikyo, and with how badly that ended...I just don't think he was capable of believing that he could have anything better. Seriously, of the canon characters, I think InuYasha and Sango would have worked best together (especially given the sleazeball monk that she wound up with in canon). Thank goodness for fanfiction.
Disappointed that Your Lie in April didn't make this list, but Sailor Moon deserves it's place here - Serena and Darien loved each other time after time, generation after generation, transcending the odds and always finding each other. Love it.

I really believe that Kagome's time in the past should have been a tool to help her discover herself, not her love life... I think she needed self discovery more than that and her "crush" on Inuyasha just ruined that. I feel like their entire relationship is really forced, on Kagome's side it's about being needed and desired and seeing herself with someone else, while on Inuyasha's side it's about holding onto the past he had with Kikyo and living it through Kagome.

They never got forward the whole plot, while Miroku and Sango made enormous progress. Miroku was a bit of unreasoning at first, but he pushed himself and he always came for Sango, when she needed him. Their relationship was more natural and you got the feeling it wasn't planed. Inuyasha and Kagome were constructed and Kikyou always stood between them,, Miroku and Sango also have more thoughtfulness. I was crying when they lay there on the floor in Narakus body, Miroku close to death, Sango poisened. And what did Inuyasha and Kagome do in the meantime? They had a fucking philosophical conversation with Naraku...

I hate the number 1 spot they picked. They only are together because of their past lives. That's one of the biggest problems I had with the sailor moon series, the sailor scouts completely taken over the free will of their present lives when it came to romance, princess serenity and usagi are not the same people yes they shared the same soul but are completely different. Usagi hated Mamoru lets face it the guy was a complete asshole but because their past lives were lovers they got together little to no build up whatsoever. Kagome and inuyasha was the perfect way to bring two people together in this sense in a relationship. Kagome while is the reincarnation of kikyo was presented as a completely different person from kikyo and at first they hated each other but as the anime carried on you can see the connection between them grow until they felt for each other. Kagome and Inuyasha in my opinion is the number 1 anime couple of all time. Number 1 spot should go to who did it better not who did it first.

They were probably one of the dumbest couples I've ever seen. I mean, it was obvious that they were going to be canon from the start, but the writer just HAD to put in all this drama and then have a shitty ending. Suddenly, Ryuu stopped liking Minori and fell in love with Taiga. Minori was being a lil' bitch and didn't go talk to Ryuu because of the friendship crap. I was actually rooting for Ami for a while, and she had no excuse for not confessing to Ryuu sooner. At least Minori actually HAD an excuse for not telling him how she felt. And Taiga... she's the only one who had a good reason to fall in love with Ryuuji. But then they were like 'let's get eloped', tried to run away, decided to come to their senses and then Taiga just ditches everyone. What the heck was that. I mean, the manga may have more to it than that but they could've ended it on a better note.

it's the perfect example for one sided love. sure, Hinata loves Naruto for a long time, but vice versa? not really. he treats her as a good friend, but not a love interest. at all the times he might sees her stand up for him because she loves him, he just either too dense or too busy to notice it. I don't say they son't love each other. the maybe, probably love each other. enough to end up married and having two kids together. but it doesn't make them good couple. their story isn't told to us well, so they shouldn't get a place. I can believe them ending up together, but not appreciate this reunion. maybe if the story was told to us, then they might be a good couple. but it's OK, since we're not reading Naruto for the romance, but for the bromance.

You know, like a HEALTHY relationship. Where things are based on mutual trust and NOT control.

Kagome has proven time and time again that she does not trust InuYasha in the slightest, and she actively enjoys using the Beads to abuse and humiliate him, as well as treat him like her personal therapy bag. Kagome does nothing to master her powers or develop new abilities, relying chiefly on the others to do things for her. And she constantly takes off whenever she's in a bad mood and leaves the others in the lurch to wait for her. I honestly feel that the main reason InuYasha put up with that because, given the life he had led, he honestly didn't think he could have or even deserved anything better. He had been lonely and miserable for who knows how long before meeting Kikyo, and with how badly that ended...I just don't think he was capable of believing that he could have anything better. Seriously, of the canon characters, I think InuYasha and Sango would have worked best together (especially given the sleazeball monk that she wound up with in canon). Thank goodness for fanfiction.

They never got forward the whole plot, while Miroku and Sango made enormous progress. Miroku was a bit of unreasoning at first, but he pushed himself and he always came for Sango, when she needed him. Their relationship was more natural and you got the feeling it wasn't planed. Inuyasha and Kagome were constructed and Kikyou always stood between them,, Miroku and Sango also have more thoughtfulness. I was crying when they lay there on the floor in Narakus body, Miroku close to death, Sango poisened. And what did Inuyasha and Kagome do in the meantime? They had a fucking philosophical conversation with Naraku...

I Agreed With So Many Honorable Mentions
I hate the number 1 spot they picked. They only are together because of their past lives. That's one of the biggest problems I had with the sailor moon series, the sailor scouts completely taken over the free will of their present lives when it came to romance, princess serenity and usagi are not the same people yes they shared the same soul but are completely different. Usagi hated Mamoru lets face it the guy was a complete asshole but because their past lives were lovers they got together little to no build up whatsoever. Kagome and inuyasha was the perfect way to bring two people together in this sense in a relationship. Kagome while is the reincarnation of kikyo was presented as a completely different person from kikyo and at first they hated each other but as the anime carried on you can see the connection between them grow until they felt for each other. Kagome and Inuyasha in my opinion is the number 1 anime couple of all time. Number 1 spot should go to who did it better not who did it first.

Fruits basket? The fuck are you talking about? Tohru never actually chose anyone to couple with. It didn't have even the slightest bit of a conclusion. The anime ends suddenly and vaguely. You can't call them a couple if they never became a couple.
They got married in the manga. It counts.

I haven't seen it in a while but I thought all they did in the last episode was talk to the family head and walk home as a group. I didn't see any implications. Either way they didn't become a couple in the anime which was a huge letdown if you were watching this series for an answer like I was.
You didn't mention Yusuke Urameshi and Keiko Yukimura from Yu Yu Hakusho. They made a romantic couple. Didn't you see the final episode? You didn't even give them an honorable mention.
