I didn't played but I watched the whole vnovel here in youtube because people kept telling me the exact same thing. I might not be the smartest guy in the internet, and I know for a fact that te ending has more meanings for the fans that atoms in the fucking universe, but for me it was almost the same just with more dialoge. I just had to took it as face-value, groan for the ending and walk away because i felt cheated.
Oh come on.. You call yourself a fan of Clannad but you have to disaggree that it should not be considered as a romance but more like slice of life anime..

Ao Haru Ride is fine... But it is one of those anime's that don't develop much in the relationship till the end; and even in the end they aren't necessarily a couple.

Maid Sama! I already fell in love with it in the first 2 minutes of watching the first episode. I watched in Dub and I relate to Misaki and Usui is one of the hottest guys in anime. The creators might not be making a season 2 tho. I'm sad about that but I really recommend watching it.

I'm really pissed that Say "I Love You" wasn't ranked (it deserves more than an honorable mention since it's literally the epitome of a romance anime) when there's a lot more romance in it than a majority of the listed animes. Plus, My Little Monster, Bokura Ga Ita, and Your Lie in April weren't even honorable mentions.
I can't explain Bokura Ga Ita because I think it should be in the range 6-4, but Tonari no Kaibatsu-Kun (My Little Monster) is way more focused on Comedy rather than romance, and it isn't in the anime real romance unfolds, it's the manga, where they get married. Your Lie in April is light hearted in the anime, so I wouldn't consider it truly romance, as I am reading the manga.

I hated Toradora. As I will now copy and paste from another comment of mine. (spoilers ahead) The show is pretty much about two terrible people who manipulate each other and their love interested only to ditch their love interests when they do develop feelings to get with each other causing a bunch of pointless heartbreak to the people who weren't terrible people while giving the terrible people their "Happy ending." Seriously, fuck that series.
The only reverse Harem? There were definitely more than one!

There's Chibi Vampire Karin, Snow white with the Red hair, Angel Beats (I didn't personally like it but many do), Waiting in Summer, Kimi ni Todoke (highly recommend), Fruits Basket, Kotoura-san (my favorite romance), Toradora, my love comedy SNAFU, Golden Time, My little monster , and Gurren Lagann. Hopefully those are some good suggestions, and they keep you busy!

Half the stuff listed is not even that good, and putting True Tears as even an honorable mentions shows how much they know, since that anime is horrible. Oh, and lets not forget that Ouran is actualy a harem, not proper romance.

If anyone here has never watched an anime called "Please Teacher" I would highly suggest it. It literally made me an 18 year old man.......cry! Not because it's heart breaking, but because it's so dam beautifu!

I date back to the 80s, and discovered "Mezon Ikkoku" in the original manga. For me, it's the template romance, with Takahashi's wonderful graphics and Jane Austen plot qualities. Kyoko beginning the series as a widow gives it an unexpected level.
This Anime is one of my all-time favorite romance Anime, I rather prefer Maison Ikkoku more than Clannad. Sadly WatchMojo put on the honorable mentions and not knowing the reputation it deserves

Nodame Cantabile is like one of the best comedy romance anime of all time and let us also not forget the classical music element. I highly recommend it, the characters are just so lovable

Well, I can answer that! The animes that were selected must have romance FRONT & CENTERED.
For AngelBeat the romance is there. But, the action and tragedy aspect over shadowed it.
Your lie in April the romance is kept secreted until the end!
For Clannad the romance is out in the open. And for Clannad after story the romance is already known, and out in the open. But, the tragedy aspect is what makes it famous.

Really? I’ve definitely heard worse. Her worst pronunciation to me was ironically the way she said “sama” in Maid-sama.
I have a lot but the last two I watched... Fruits Basket and Snow White with the Red Hair had me squealing with all the romantic tension! 😻🙌

YES Clannad is in the top spot!!! It is such an amazing anime, I just finished watching it again for the third time T.T
Personally I also would have put Your Lie in April on the list as well, but I can see how it would be seen as more focused on Kosei's healing and bringing music back into his life. NagisaxTomoya, TaigaxRyugi, HaruhixTamaki, and KoseixKaori are my top anime ships. So good!
