Shou Tucker also made his daughter believe that her mom pretty much abandoned her and wasn't contacting her since he told her that she left because he wasn't successful/rich as a state alchemist. Plus, he burnt the letters Nina wrote to her mom and pretty much made it seem like her mom didn't want anything to do with her since she never got a reply. For that reason, he was already being a horrible dad before he turned his daughter into a science experiment. Not to mention that in the 2003 series, he then keeps making knockoff Ninas that probably don't have a pleasant existence, which means he's watching them suffer and die, but keeps making them anyway. PLUS by trying to make a replacement, it seems like he views his daughter as replaceable, especially since I seem to remember him saying that he was going to make a Nina even better than the original.
That's why I'd put him higher or the list. Nina deserved better.

James’ parents should’ve made the actual list. They forced him to marry Jessiebelle after finding him writing a love letter to her when he was young, faked their own deaths to trick their son into coming back home to marry Jessiebelle, and as revealed in the XY episode “Mending A Broken Spirit” it is revealed that James’ mother threw away his prized bottle cap collection which he probably spent years assembling. Seriously they should actually be on the list.
If I ever get annoyed by my parents, I'll remember that at least they aren't like these sick excuses for parents.

I don't think anyone needs to be reminded of that, but I would have been a bit upset if he wasn't on this list, since he clearly deserves it.

Personally I kind of feel like Enji Todoroki aka Endeavor from My Hero Academia would be a good candidate for this list

Endeavor would certainly fit the bill, but for those who are reading the manga currently, Endeavor has chosen to atone for all he's done. Have we seen an anime parent who can say that?
He does get development, but that doesn't change the fact that he was a terrible father.
Lets be real the only reason Enji 'Endeavor' Todoroki from My Hero Academia is not on this list is cuz the list was made in 2016.

Forced her to have 4 kids in hopes one would be strong enough to take out a man who tries his hardest to do good in the world
Calls all but one of his children failures
Possible horrible accident involving oldest son that according to the fandom has lead to a theory of that oldest son growing up to be one of the most popular villains
Abused his wife to the point where she splattered boiling water on her youngest sons face just for looking like him and he put her in a mental hospital all for damaging his so called master peace
And abusing his son so much he won't use half of his power just because it reminds him too much of his father.
Petition to make Robyn do a part 2 of worst anime parents?
As Robyn herself stated, there were too many terrible anime parents to include on this list, so a part 2 to this list definitely seems to make a lot of sense to make. I'm surprised she didn't do best and worst anime mothers for mother's day. Hope she does those lists for fathers on fathers day.

Also, maybe we can squeeze in Isabella from Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland) despite the fact that she did her job so well, raising multiple healthy, intelligent, and well behaved children. Strange how they never wrote back; must be having too much fun with their foster families.

Nagisa's Mom reminds me of my Mom... Like, the only difference is that I was actually BORN female. That and she was never PHYSICALLY abusive. That's the ONLY differences between Nagisa's relationship with his Mom and my relationship with my Mom. -_- The whole "I birthed and raised you, so you should be grateful" thing is COMPLETELY on point. Thank god I'm an adult and have already escaped. Edit because youtube ate one of the key sentences as I posted it.

One reason that Goku did NOT make this list is that, unlike the parents mentioned here, he doesn't have the capacity to choose to be a better parent even if he wanted to. Even without the brain damage he suffered as an infant that may or may not have affected his ability to feel empathy, Low-class Saiyans don't have a brooding instinct in any way, shape, or form. They send their children off to fight as soon as they are born and don't even really have families. His father Bardock having a single, long-term mate was extremely unusual by Saiyan standards.
This is actually why Vegeta is, in most circumstances, a better parent than Goku even though he is a colder, less moral person. The Saiyan royal family had a tradition of the father raising and bonding with the son, ergo Vegeta understands far better than Goku how important it is to children, especially male children, to have an active father-figure in their lives.

I can agree with this fully. Goku sadly can't learn to be a good parent, but atleast he loves his sons unlike the assholes in the video and all the asshole parents that were created since then.
Even taking that out of account, I don't think he was even taught how to be a good parent. I mean, he spent who knows how long alone as a kid. (anyone know when exactly Gohan died?)
I swear the constant hits he gets in the head during fights don't help either.

First two seasons (anime) are pretty good once the show 'finds itself.' After that... eh. Manga is awesome, if you like comedy and slice of life.

FINALLY!!! Someone else against Gendo Ikari. For the longest time I've felt like I was Spiderman in that meme. Everyone else is out there hating on Shinji, and I'm just sitting here saying that Gendo is the worst. I've always loathed Gendo Ikari. I honestly think that Second Impact caused some irreparable harm to human empathy, but Gendo pushing forward a potential defense for mankind seems to have given him broad license in the minds of those who associated with him. It's the only motive I can assign for none of them giving the twisted shit Excedrin Headache #.308 if you follow my meaning.

I love this comment. I watched evangelion a few years back, and I felt for shinji. He had the most awful, disgusting parent. And everytime he told someone how awful his dad was? They’d say he’s complaining, ungrateful, and selfish. I’m watching this show and just baffled by everyone. He has trust issues because his dad was mia for 16 years?! He has a right to be cautious and wary of people because his dad never showed an iota of love for him once the mom died. No cards, or phone call until the second impact.
It made sense that he didn’t wanna live with him. Because gendo’s first order after seeing his child years later is: “get in the robot!”
I think something that twists the knife even further with the number 1 is that their son, Hayate is such a good kid. He's friendly, kind and selfless. He's the kind of person you DON'T want bad things like that happening to.

Whadda bout Yuno's mom. Shiro's mom. Mutsuki's dad who raped her multiple times, the one girl from Elfen Lied's dad, Yato's dad, and Mika's parents who threw him out of a DAMN CAR.
Sure number 1 is pretty bad, selling your kid and leaving him with debt. But worse than turning a five year old into a monster who only lives in pain until it dies just to keep a title? I don't think that's on the same depraved level.

It is revealed mostly in the manga, but also (and mostly in the anime) is when Crona become the powerful weapon
And Ragyo done it worse, she did the same thing to her own children, but she *molest* her daughters and you know how it appears to have 2 daughters (and 1 made of life fibers), well, guess what? There's should be a few more children but as soon as they were born, she just experiment them immediately until it's a success or a failure. And if they fail, meaning that they died, she threw them away, as if they were garbage and move on to make another!

And for #1, it's not the worst thing they did, in the manga, the kid steal some lunch in school when he didn't have enough. He told his father his true reason why and told him *he believed his son.* But when he got to the principal's office, he told them how "Terrible" his son was, and he even "Counterfeit" art and paintings!
Imagine if that happens when you were, like 8 years old and heard how much one of your parents betrayed you after you told the truth

The Roman Vulcan I’d even put ragyo as slightly worse than gendo since gendo never experimented on shingi or molested him while ragyo did both things to both of her daughters and also tried to kill them
@btamamura ragyo basically turned her daughters into science experiments as well but the major difference is that she also mollested her eldest daughter for years and brainwashed the younger daughter after capturing her. As far as I know, Gendo never sexually abused shinji

Ren Gyokuen from Magi, she was married to the emperor of the kou empire, she set a building on fire killing two of her sons and her husband so she can take the throne but the emperor's younger brother took the throne instead, so she married him and then killed him for the same reason... and yeah
It turns out that Gyokuen was actually possessed and that the actual Gyokuen was a loving mother.

In regards to number one, you know what the sad part is? People like that do exist in real life. I should know, back when my parents were still together my mother had to get a job to support me and my siblings because my father refused to work. In fact he would rather spend my mom's hard earned money on cigarettes and beer, granted my mom tried to find work for my dad but for some reason he passes his work off to someone else. It's a good thing that my mom left him, as far as I'm concerned we're much better off without him. By the way have you ever thought of doing a list of the worst siblings in anime?

In addition to the crimes of Lelouch's parents that you mentioned, they also used their other children as tools, and Charles is forcing his children to war among themselves and others to compete because he only wants ONE of them left to take the throne.
....That and the fact that he emotionally abuses them, and sent Lelouch and Nunnally to Japan before DECLARING WAR ON THE COUNTRY HIS CHILDREN WERE STAYING IN, not caring a mite whether they were caught in the crossfire.
Also, Cordelia shouldn't have been #3. She's way worse than Gendo Ikari, and should have been #2. But your pick for number one was definitely on the mark.

I am surprised that Shoto Todoroki’s dad from My hero academia didn’t make the list! Let me explain why:
His dad FORCED a marriage with his wife JUST cause he wants to make a strong child to become the new #1 hero. He forced his wife to make children, but every time he ends up with a weak child and he did not care about them, so his wife had to take care of ALL of them. Finally they managed to make a good one (Shoto), so instead of raising him like a good father, he tortures him to get stronger when he was 5 YEARS OLD!!! His mom tries to help her son when he was sad and when his dad was not around, Shoto would cry and hug his mom and say “I-I don’t want to be like him!.. I don’t want to be like someone who bullies you all the time mama!..”. So one morning, Shoto went to the kitchen to eat breakfast, he noticed his mom was talking to someone and boiling water was.. well.. boiling.. and he was hiding behind the wall and overheard the conversation.. and this is what he herd: “Ugh.. I can’t raise him anymore, I just want to runaway from his life, his left side is unbearable all I can see is his father...” and Shoto said: “M-Mama....” And she turns to him, takes the boiling water that she was preparing for her tee and THREW IT ON TO HIS FACE!!!

Akio looks very masculine but is actually a woman (at least by the manga) and Nagisa is a boy who can pull off looking like a girl but *BOTH* of these kids were forced into these gender identities by their HORRIBLE EXCUSES FOR PARENTS! Yes, she certainly deserves at least a dishonourable mention. She physically beat him, not for misbehaving, but for not performing up to her standards. He wore long sleeve shirts to cover the bruises. She used him to attempt to achieve the dream she couldn't achieve for herself. He took the abuse because he believed that if he played well enough, his mother would get well again, and she let him believe that. When she died, he believed it was his fault, and that he was a failure. She was a real tool.

regarding #1, i don't get how that's supposed to be "comedic." Like, Robyn said the show is a comedy, but those circumstances....how is it ever funny when an innocent person is so beat down and taken advantage of? It reminds me of the running "joke" involving Dick Gumshoe's salary cuts in Ace Attorney; might be funny the first time (or i imagine there is SOME situation in which it could be momentarily amusing), but after a while it just becomes sad and pathetic, but not on Gumshoe's part....on EDGEWORTH'S (and by extension anyone else who does it to him, like Franzy to some degree).
