Same here. I played Xenogears way, way back in the day when I was 16. I never thought anything would get to me the same way again. Xenoblade 1 is great, and I enjoyed 2 in spite of a bunch of annoyances, but neither of them hold a candle to that first flawed, overly ambitious masterpiece that Takahashi and his wife came up with together. And in some ways, Xenoblade 3 also falls short of Xenogears, but it emotionally impacted me a lot more. I lost my younger brother a few years ago and have been continuously making a video series since then to memorialize him, so Noah's and Mio's concerns about whether they're making a difference and reaching people as Offseers really resonated with me. I was also engaged and preparing to get married around the time the game came out, and we planned to have children, so a lot of scenes pertaining to the main cast realizing what parts of life had been stolen from them and seeing what life can be really moved me a lot. I can't count how many times I cried playing this game. Just beautiful. I played and was absolutely amazed by Elden Ring in 2022, but I often forget I played it because Xenoblade 3 stands out so much in my mind from that year and that point in my life. My wife also played through both it and the Future Redeemed DLC and really enjoyed both. I still like Xenogears more overall for the immensity of the story, but Xenoblade 3 is high on my list of favorite games of all time, and I think about it a lot. When I have time, I want to replay it.
@@BabyArms thank you so much for sharing your story with XC3, and the impact that it’s had on you. I’m sorry to hear about your brother, but that’s really cool that you’re memorializing him like that. The parts in XC3 where they realize the parts of life that had been stolen from them, are some of the most touching, and precious moments I’ve ever experienced in a game too. That’s really awesome that both you and your wife enjoyed this game, and are able to relate on it with each other. I’ve never played Xenogears before, but I definitely hope to be able to get to it one day. Thank you so much for sharing your story!
I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm sorry I can't say more because I don't know you. But I want you to know that even if we can't unite through life, so many of us are willing to unite even through the smaller things in life like this piece of art known as Xenoblade Chronicles.
Man, I'm finally putting my foot on the floor playing through the trilogy now. I've always loved the first on the Wii, and am now on the Future connected expansion after finishing up on 1. I've tried 2 times to get into 2. I heard it gets great, eventually, but I just can't like that gatcha system, man. I'll just have to push through, as they say to get to the good stuff! Part 3 just looks all around amazing, and I can't wait to get to it! :)
It's truly such a great trilogy. I hope that you're able to get into XC2. Third times the charm right! And then you have so much goodness awaiting you once you get to XC3! Really hope you enjoy the ride this series will take you on.
I LOVE THIS GAME! Xenoblade Chronicles used to be niche, but this game left its damn mark! I'm so proud of how far these games have come since Xenogears. The Xeno series will forever be in my heart as one of, if not, the greatest set of fiction I'll ever experience.
It’s for sure left its mark, and I’m really happy to see how the series has grown. Here’s to hoping that it continues to grow and grow. The Xeno trilogy just might be my favorite trilogy of all time. It’s definitely up there. Thank you for the comment, and for sharing the Xeno love!
2 will always be my personal favorite of the franchise and probably will always be my favorite game of all time, but 3 is almost just as good, and I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me break down in tears multiple times, 2 just hit me a lot harder on an emotional level and had a lot more satisfying gameplay for me, Xenoblade Chronicles all around is just a pure 10/10 series, and I can't wait to see what's to come for it in the future.
I can understand that. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is amazing, and it's combat is so satisfying once you really figure it out. I do prefer how 3 did the hero system to 2's blade system though. But 2 is awesome, and its OST is still the overall best to me. Definitely wholeheartedly agree that the Xenoblade Chronicles series as a whole is a 10/10, and I'm so excited to see what Monolith has in store for us in the future!
