The song was on the movie The Legend of Billie Jean. Some of the footage on the video is from the movie. It was filmed partly in Selena's home town of Corpus Christi. So did I!😃 about maybe 10yrs ago?! She was super nice! And yes, a small girl but can really belt it out! Did she sing “lay down” for you guys? Talk about an explosive voice!✌️😃
Promises in the Dark is my fave too. Hell is For Children is probably the one I think I want him to watch most, but there really are no wrong answers as long as he keeps reacting to Pat Benatar
Promises in the dark is a beautiful song but hell is for children will probably make him cry. Crazy how people thought that song was actually damning children instead of listening to the song and hearing how anti child abuse it was.
I got that cut too! 😆 When I was a kid and seen this movie I had hair long enough to sit on. I swore that when i grew up, I'd cut my hair like her...and I did!
Pat should be in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame! Great back story on how she/her husband met. I love them as a couple. Btw, they both still look Great & their daughters of course are beautiful too. Check out Professor of Rock for her full story!
Hell Is For Children is a must Jamel. Was a big hit. Rock song about child abuse, powerful lyrics. Her voice absolutely rips on it, and there's amazing guitar work too.
She is an influential woman of greatness who the RRHOF has yet to acknowledge. Please correct their mistake. She deserves the credit. Vote for Pat Benetar.
The movie is worth watching. A slice of the early 80s on the south Texas coast. You'll recognize a lot of the actors and one of the actor's voices more than the face.
The movie was filmed in my hometown, Corpus Christi TX. I was in Jr high at the time. Pat Benatar is so awesome. She should be in the Rock N Roll hall of fame. Married to her guitar player, Neil Geraldo, for many years. “Precious Time” is one of may faves and that song had a killer guitar solo.
Pat Benatar "Promises In The Dark" is a groundbreaking vocal powerhouse must see, Jamel. It is one of my favorite songs of all times. You are literally just scratching the surface of Benatar until you go back into her very first albums of raw powerhouse rock. Invincible is much later than her initial rock beginnings. You would be shocked after seeing this Invincible video to go back & hear her song "Hell Is For Children". If I remember correctly, she was either pregnant with their first child during this video or had just had her. That greatly altered how she wanted to be seen & perceived. She no longer wanted to be seen as a sex symbol & actually stood up to record execs about just that during this particular time frame.
First time I heard that song, it got to the end and I could hear the way the melody was heading. I thought "No she's not really aiming for that note!" BLAM! She sure was, and hit it as smoothly and clearly as a silver bell. It is an absolute crime that she's not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
This song became Pat's third of her four top 10 hits from the Billboard Hot 100 chart of her career. The song peaked at No.10 during the late summer of 1985. It is one of my favorite songs by Pat. Kick-ass indeed!!!
This song was used as the Main Theme to The Legend of Billie Jean". No, it is not related to the MJ song. The movie came out in the 80's starring Helen Slater. Not bad, a girl was assaulted and beat up her assailant who framed her for robbery.
Shadows of the Night and We Belong are 2 great ones and my absolute fave by her has always been Fire and Ice! She has so many awesome songs! Keep On Rockin`
The movie is vary good it's called the Legend of Billie Jean it's about a group of teenagers in Texas that have to go on the run from the law after Billie jean and her brother are accused of a crime they did not do. It is what started my love of Pat's music as a kid.
The 1st time i heard Hell is for Children it pissed me off, severely. I had a couple friends who'd had a rough childhood. I couldn't and still can't understand how you could hurt a child or a woman. Especially your own. But it is a great song. I saw her live in the late 70's, she was opening for a band i don't remember but i remember her. My mother was only 5 ft nothing, about the same size, i couldn't believe how strong her voice was. She amazed the whole crowd the primary band was kind of a let down after her. Don't get me wrong, i was a child of the 60's and the son of a hillbilly coal miner as were most kids in our neighborhood and it was common for a parent to take a belt or switch to your little ass. I admit i was a little bastard if there was a problem i was usually close. It started as young as when i was 2 years old and my father, who was painting the house and set an open can of paint near me and walked away. I don't remember it but I've had numerous relatives tell me the story because a couple some of them had to help. It seems they left me alone long enough to paint the fender and trunk lid. Sadly it was my parents 1st new car. Actually i didn't get even a smack because by the time Pap and friends got the paint off the car and Ma got the paint off me they were starting to see the humor in it and i wouldn't have even known why i got smacked. But later i only got a whipping i deserved it except for a couple times my cousins lied, so i beat their asses later. I was raised that you never hit a woman or a child or even animals. It's a family trait but for someone to do that to any child or spouse is totally unforgivable. In my opinion if it's a male you lose your man card if they're female you should lose your kids and be sterilized so you can't breed again. We don't need people like that in the gene pool. While yer at de nut the men too, not a vasectomy, complete de nut.
She’s a trained opera singer and inspired most of the current female singers performing today from Pink to Ariana Grande Pat is a Legend who rocked hard and she’s on every girls workout playlist
One of my wife’s favorite songs from one of her favorite movies. The movie is about a young girl (Billie Jean) publicly fighting back against a sleazy local business owner and his son. It had a lot more going on than most teen movies of the 80’s. Id say worth watching for sure 🤘Apparently Pat Benatar _hates_ the movie tho 😆
I watched a commentary of Pat's videos by Pat & Spider. It's not that she hated the movie; she didn't remember a lot of it. When this video came up, she really didn't remember.
The Legend of Billie Jean is absolutely worth a watch! Definitely should check out more Pat Benatar like Hell is for Children; Fire and Ice; We Belong; Promises in the Dark; You Better Run. Oh so many songs to listen to!
Pat Benatar.. love is a battlefield. Heart, theres the girl. Alannah Myles just one kiss. Being 18 with this music and a 21 year old nymphomaniac girlfriend in Cornwall England. So many places where not many people are around. Public display of affection doesn't come close to explaining what we did. Amazing memories of these songs and this era. Lady rock.
"Fair is Fair!" The movie is pretty good. Poor kids versus the rich. Scumbag father trying to get the young high school girl to sleep with him. So a manhunt for the poor kids ensues.
Most under recognized and greatest vocalist of all times. End of story no argument. Listen to her whole repertoire of work and I think many of you will agree
But the guitar part changes up always which makes listening to the whole song to the end worthwhile. The guitar solo feels like it is being forced out of the guitar.
Pat Benatar had some chops. She was a trained opera singer who loved rock & roll. The movie "Legend of Billie Jean." is worth watching. It features a very young Christian Slater.
Now you need to do Hell is For Children, Promises in the Dark, Wuthering Heights. The woman has an awesome vocal range which really gets showcased in Wuthering Heights!!!
Finally some Pat Benatar. I'm going to see her in concert in October finally after being postponed five times or at least it seems like it. She is the best female rock star singer ever ever ever ever!!!
" The legend of Billy Jean " is a badass movie from the 80's. Starring Helen Slater & brother Christian Slater plays her brother. Helen commanded the role & will steal your heart with her performance !! Worth watching !!!
Pat Benatar has so many great songs. My favourite is Shadows of the Night. She also has a song called Hell is for Children which was the first song that tackled the issue of child abuse. Some people who didn't read into the lyrics took the song the wrong way because of the title and made a big deal about it. Some other great songs are Promises In The Dark, All Fired Up and Fire and Ice.
The song is featured in the first or second books of the *Legacy of the Aldenata* science fiction series by John Ringo. The leader of a Spec Ops team rushing into a confrontation with an alien horde plays it over his team's comms as traveling music. It's actually pretty epic.
Oh yes! I didn't recognize this song just from the title, but as soon as I heard the hook I realized I had heard it a few times. Not among her biggest hits like "Hit me Your Best Shot" or "Love is a Battlefield" but a minor hit I guess.
@@dawnwilloughby249 You would think you would go to Wiki before posting. It actually goes out of the way to say they are not related. Helen is Jewish from Great Neck. Christian is from the city. Both went to the same High School of the Preforming Arts. Helen is 6 years older.
The literal opposite of what this song is about, that's sad. This song is about fighting against the power of the state, not becoming a foot soldier of the state.
@@SuperDoNotWant I don’t give af about what you think the song is about. The words matched the pain in our hearts for what had been perpetrated against us. We could no longer afford to be innocent, our anger was justified and we were ready to take up arms to protect our country. That is the reality. I’d be willing to bet that you did not watch, in utter disbelief as the planes flew into those buildings and saw people that chose to jump to their death rather than be burned alive.
I’m a musician and for years I’ve wanted to cover this song. For some reason, I could never find other musicians that were interested. But, I can’t help but feel that the chorus on this song is just powerful and anthemic. If this were...”metaled-up” just a little it could be epic
Pat is a goddess! I have seen her live several times and she's still got it! She and her husband Neil (her guitar player) have been married for close to 40 years and they Still rock!!He is one of the finest guitar players in the world!! Also, the movie The Legend of Billie Jean (which is well worth watching and where this song is from) and Michael Jackson's Billie Jean have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Shadows of the Night is my favorite song of Pat Benatar. She’s amazing 🤩

Best song "Promises in the Dark" and yes... Legend of Billy Jean. Watch it!!!
"Hell is for children" was the 1st song that got me into Pat Benatar ...she has alot of great songs
Promises in the Dark is my fave too. Hell is For Children is probably the one I think I want him to watch most, but there really are no wrong answers as long as he keeps reacting to Pat Benatar

I have asked before for him to react to the live version of Promises in the Dark. She hits a note no one else tries.
She is a professionaly trained opera singer.
She is all around Amazing!!
With a four octave range
Pat Benatar , amazing vocal range, and great voice.
this sister can STILL blow. one of the greatest rock vocalists out there, ms. benatar.
“Love is a battlefield” should be your next song of hers.
Took the words from me!! Gotta do that one so I can dance along.
Far and away her best effort. Perhaps on a shorter list of GOAT songs
Absolutely
Fire and Ice? Shadows of the Night? Hell is For Children? We Belong? Precious Time? She's got at least 10 songs better/stronger than Battlefield.
@@deemavo you make a good point. Certainly "We Belong" is right up there
All Fired Up has a fast beat to it like this song. It's my all time favorite.

The queen of rock and roll. I've seen her in concert 8 times. She puts on a great show. Listen to her blues music.
fun fact... she’s been married to the guitarist for like 40 years
She was pregnant in this video. Hence the reason why she only doing the two step dance.
also the young girl in the movie that joins the adventure goes on to Voice Lisa Simpson.
Actually 39 years ... 40 is next year for them (2022).
Neil Giraldo, her husband, is a phenomenal guitarist.
How sad is it that it needs to mentioned that a marriage lasts?
“Hell is for Children” and Promises in the Dark"
I love The Legend of Billie Jean. It's kind of like if Thelma and Louise had been written by 14 year olds.
That movie was filmed in my city.
That’s the best description I’ve ever heard!

So many songs by PB that show her strong vocal range. (She did a jazz album a few years back. Now that has some very good songs on there too.)
"Is this movie worth watching?"
YES
The film is amazing a classic, good ole 1985 in to 86. I used to walk around playing this on my Walkman lol happy days.
Love this song. Takes me right back to the Summer of '85.
Yes should watch the movie. The song was written for the movie and all ties in.
Yes! So happy to see you do this one! I loved this movie back in the 80’s.
Would love to see you react to “We Belong” next. 🤗
Love this song. The Legend of Bille Jean, I used to watch this move when was a kid a lot. It always played on rotation on cable.
I think, I THINK this may be Pat Benatar's best song in a long list of great songs imo.
My favorite PB song.
This is sooooooo 80s!!!! Great Benatar tune!!!!
This was Christian Slater's first film. I always had a crush on Helen Slater (NO Relation).
They are brother and sister in real life.
@Dawn...no they weren't related. They just have the same last name.
@@dawnwilloughby249 You would think you would go to Wiki before posting. It actually goes out of the way to say they are not related. Helen is Jewish from Great Neck. Christian is from the city. Both went to the same High School of the Preforming Arts. Helen is 6 years older.
You should hear
Love is a battlefield next
Her voice is legendary
Thank you brother Jam 💜
Back in 2001, after 9/11, this was an anthem for those waiting in lines to enlist in the various branches of the armed forces.
✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽
The literal opposite of what this song is about, that's sad. This song is about fighting against the power of the state, not becoming a foot soldier of the state.
@@SuperDoNotWant I don’t give af about what you think the song is about. The words matched the pain in our hearts for what had been perpetrated against us. We could no longer afford to be innocent, our anger was justified and we were ready to take up arms to protect our country.
That is the reality. I’d be willing to bet that you did not watch, in utter disbelief as the planes flew into those buildings and saw people that chose to jump to their death rather than be burned alive.
Absolutely 💯, a theme for us all.
Man!!!!!!! Been so long since I watched The Legend of Bill Jean. Probably watched it a dozen times when we first got cable
Man what an awesome voice.
Jamal, Pat Benatar with all of her hits, she as only one number 1 song, Love Is a Battlefield, you might want to check her out.
Love how she shows off her range on this song.
One of my favorite movies from the 80's. So in my opinion, yes it's worth watching.
One of my favorite guitar solos from her husband Neil Giraldo in the song Hit Me with Your Best Shot.
