Hello, Simon Sorry for the very late comment. I am the developer of Golfboy. Thank you for taking the time to review Golfboy. We are very excited to see your very enjoyable video. Golfboy was originally developed for use at outdoor and indoor driving ranges. Therefore, this is the first time we have seen Golfboy in use on a golf course. (I am relieved to hear that Golfboy seems to be working well). Golfboy was exhibited from Japan at the PGA Show last January. Since then, we have accelerated the development of the application. Golfboy is still in the process of development. We are currently working on even bigger enhancements, such as measuring rotation speeds, a report function for each club, and a global competition function. Although there is a disadvantage of requiring a tripod, we are working daily to develop this product so that it will contribute to the improvement of many more golfers. If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints Please feel free to contact us.
@@GolfAddict Thank you for your question. Since there are still some features we would like to expand in the iOS version in the future, we will probably focus on iOS development this year and the first half of next year. Once development settles down, we plan to consider Android, but at this time, we have not yet decided on the timing of development.
There was something a little funny with the ball speed for sure. 121mph club head speed with a 1.47 smash factor is 178mph ball speed, not 189mph ball speed.
Could you make a one off application for Android for the Samsung S20 ultra and up to recent, they have amazing cameras and cpu application speeds which would make this product very very good and get alot of user's instantly, South Koreans would make you very happy
We have made a very strong update to the putter function in v8.0. The putter report function visualizes face angle and club trajectory, and has been released as a function that can be used for club fitting.

Love the fact that your the only big golf TH-camr to review this Golfboy app. I’d love to see you do a putting with the app. And even try out the course simulator. This app could be the best iPhone launch monitor, on the market rn. Also, I use a regular tripod and have had no issues.
The value of this seems to me to be measuring carry distance. It’s critical on the golf course and it’s hopeless on the range trying to squint into the distance to see how far it’s gone.
The track man or gcquad app is probably coming soon, the combination of better iPhone cameras with higher fps video rates means that it’s only a matter of time before these apps are 90 to 95% of the way there, especially for ball speed and swing speed which can be measured with high fps, interesting to see this head to head with an expensive launch 🚀 monitor like a quad, Rick S did a similar video before
I plan on trying this app. I have a wide stance tripod but for this I think I'll take a standard microphone stand. It has about a 10" weighted bottom. Just an idea if you have something like that around. They're very cheap at pawn shops, etc. too.
Hi Simon, Thanks for the energy that you’ve delivered this video with !!!!!! Excellent!!!!!!! Huge favour ?!?!?!?! Shot Vision has made a huge update. Would you be able to do a ShotVision vs this app ……..please ?????……please?????? Much appreciated!!! Thanks
What is the best low budget monitor or app that gives data on clubface angle and swing path. For me these are the things I want to be working on. I’m more interested in getting those right rather than whether the distance is 100% accurate.
Good stuff mate, as usual mate, free app (2months) £22 tripod all good.... iPhone = £££££ not so good. From a slightly disappointed android user 😔😪 how many iPhones you got Simon? 😂😂
Check out microphone boom stands of the kind used on stage in sound reinforcement setups. Much more adjustable and versatile in this situation, and would allow the stand to be placed further away with the boom extended for the phone over the ball
looking at your idea of a microphone boom stand,How do you attach the I Phone to A microphone holder? DUCT TAPE? Buy more /OR different attachments.ERGO drives the price up, more to carry cost of DUCT TAPE, open to your thoughts...THANKS
@@rjazco51 There are many attachments available to fit mic stands. Just get the attachment holder to suit your device. It will screw directly to the stand
i got the small stand i bought for the shotvision going unused..i'm a cheaparse and i will only using this at home in the back yard net. pretty sure i will drive an old broom handle into the turf and gaffer tape the small stand to that haha
Hi Simon I'm new to the channel and can I ask, is there a free app simulator for Android phones - I use a Samsung S10. I also have a Garmin R10 and would also like to know is there a free mobile program that can also be used on an Android phone? Thanks mate :)
There was something a little funny with the ball speed for sure. 121mph club head speed with a 1.47 smash factor is 178mph ball speed, not 189mph ball speed. That being said the carry distance (313yds) looks about perfect for 121mph club head speed. Definitely looks like the best phone app yet. ShotVision is improving all the time but can’t cope with higher swing speeds yet.
Pretty interesting for sure. Sadly, I'm not an iPhone user, so the cost of getting a new phone is probably higher than me buying one of the lower priced basic portable launch monitors to get the rough numbers.
Shotvision is a different app that has a different approach to doing launch monitoring. You set that up at floor level. Still uses the iPhone camera - I had less luck with getting it to work.
My issues with all the apps iPhone and Android (i have used both) are that they both drain your battery for however long your using them and then you get calls/texts/WhatsApp interrupting them.
Silly question. Do all of these £15k+ launch monitors show how far you hit the ball, or is it a guesstimate that takes its info from how hard you swing rather than where the ball goes?
As far as I know Trackman uses Doppler radar and tracks the flight of the ball, GC2 or GC quad track the club head and then calculate from all the data.
Very interesting, I’d like to see how the numbers compare to the swing caddy. That’s the only other reasonably priced launch monitor device. $25 vs $350? Seems like it’s worth a shot.
Noooooo… I just bought the Garmin R10 😥 But seriously, the R10 is a lot better, except for wedge shots. Also, on course the R10 is hard to align properly. So I think this app has merit, as I have such a tripod already.
@@hlo9644 I tried it once, but couldn't get the app to work The R10 is fantastic, but I don't get consistant spin numbers on wedges, e.g. 1000, 3400, 7600, on the same shots.

You’re a bloody legend, Simon. Absolutely Love our videos! Thanks for all your help.
Be nice to look more into swing path and does it show accurate club face.
Say for example a slice
Love your pros and cons.. especially about using at the driving range and setting it up
Can you review the simulator part in comparison with distance? Not visuals obviously
Not sure how you determined the accuracy of the app without having another monitor set up behind you to compare numbers
By the looks of it the top down shot of ball impact and being able to see a swing path makes me want to try this at the range.
Great vid Simon. Get what you pay for (or not for 2 months here) so keep expectations in line and looks a good app. Thanks for sharing
Love your videos Simon I'm after a golf Snapback cap any recommendations cheers
Thx Simon...i'll give it a go. Had shot vision, like that you get to see path through impact with GB
Would this still give numbers if just hitting into a net? Like club speed etc and club path?
Do you have a recommendation for good 2nd hand launch monitors for cheap
