Author Priya Parker shares tools for creating meaningful connections with friends, family and coworkers during the coronavirus pandemic -- and shows how we can take advantage of gatherings that are unique to this moment of social distancing. "We don't necessarily need to gather more," she says. "We need to gather better." (This virtual conversation is part of the TED Connects series, hosted by head of TED Chris Anderson and current affairs curator Whitney Pennington Rodgers. Recorded March 27, 2020)

Thank you so much for talking of this argument and sharing with us. As an introvert, I don’t suffer of social disconnections. I am happy living on my own in the top of the mountain of Trentino Italy, in the middle of nature, listening to the birds singing, with my sustainable garden, enjoying the sun, the stars the moon. Simple life is beautiful.

Question for Priya: What if someone does not want to share experiences with you or that they have withdrawn? How do you navigate that your needs may be different than that?

Thank you for this wonderful discussion. I'm wondering about how beauty actually can contribute to enabling environments for artful gathering. I am wondering about how definitions of beauty that get tied into commercial or consumer oriented ideas of what it means to be beautiful, oriented towards material things, is distracting us from creating true 'beautiful' spaces that come from interiorized sense of inner life that is beautiful.

Tooth-filing ceremony? Boy am I glad this world is about to de-globalize.
By the way, the kids are really liking the distance-learning method. They feel as though the teacher is giving them individual attention, without the distractions of the classroom - for the students And the teacher.
I know the teachers in Baltimore are happy; there's about 750 assaults on teachers there every year, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.
