"Thankfully" I had a crazy summer with all kinds of different drugs, I'm 18, noe I've learned and experienced what I wanted, so it's an end of a chapter for me (drug use). As an introvert, the social circles discussion applies to me the most. Although I spend most of my time “alone”, Im working, learning, or at the gym, but having the right relationships and friendships is key to a successful man. So for me the discomfort for me is making new friends and finding successful people who are receptive to someone trying to be their friend where there isn’t some obvious financial or social benefit involved is difficult.

    • @guitarman0365
      @guitarman0365 ปีที่แล้ว +13

It's going to be harder as an adult regardless. Vast majority of people aren't going to care about you in anyway unless you can benefit them in some way. It's actually easier to make friends when younger because there are less biases, less trauma, less reasons to be skeptical, more incentive for them to make friends too. Most people that are are not really unlucky and lose friends they once had or have issues connecting with people because of personality issues have already enough people in their life through friends they already have and family that you will find it very fucking difficult to give anyone any reason to consider giving any time to you. You would have to be really amazing they couldn't resist you thus if you were really amazing you wouldn't be so friendless to begin with hell people would even come up to you try to be around you removing the need for you to have to try so hard. The truth is most people end up lonely who are alone in their 30s. Get used to it so that you aren't disappointed if it doesn't pan out for you. I hope it does though. That's life. Ironically the people that would understand you the most and probably want to be friends because for your situation will never meet you because they themselves are having the same issues and dealing with the same BS preventing them from connecting to anyone else either.

The only problem is I find it so hard on what to replace it with. I feel like I don’t really know what to do other than work out, play video games and mindlessly scroll social media. Any advice?
Edit: just to be clear, I don’t struggle in quitting video games and social media, I struggle on what to replace it with. I feel like I have no hobbies at all other than working out and playing video games.

@@V1Salvocarry on doing those things but make sure you have a balance
I feel like many of these videos are aimed at people 21+, however the earlier you realise these things, the better
Enjoy your youth because you’ll never have such freedom again, unless you are rich, financial freedom, but you still must work for it
Overall, if you can maintain a balance in your life with things that trigger lots of dopamine for little work (social media, video games) with things that are not instantly gratifying (working out, speaking to girls, side hustles, education) then you are ahead of most 15-18 year olds
As for finding a new hobby, try new things, put yourself out your comfort zone and you may end up finding something you love, even if you didn’t expect it (martial arts, music, sports, film and photography)
      Hope this helps

You make a very good point about video games, tapping into male psychology. I've learned it's way easier dealing with things right away rather than waiting 20 years before I'm forced to do it. I recently moved across the US to Phoenix this year. Didn't really know anyone out here. But now I've met new social circles and found new dates and things like that. Only because I forced myself out of my comfort zone. That took 10 years to build up to it though. I'm still not completely comfortable now, but I get bored when I'm comfortable. It's weird. I have to get uncomfortable to find exciting things for my life and purpose. It gives u courage. I think a good check on ur life progress is how comfortable u r. It's ok to be comfortable for a little while after u earn it. But it should get boring and motivate u to do something greater or interesting. It's a good habit to have.

IF I had the comfort of just being able to chill and focus on my goals rather than being in constant fight or flight node I would have achieved a lot by now. Hardship is what actually builds character, if you had it easy from the start you wouldn't be half the person you are today
So when you see someone young taking it easy, no problems all the time of the world, you can actually think at how much behind they are, they still need to find a problem, than get over and only than start growing, but when that will happen? At 30? 40? So even trough may not feel right, be gratefull about the problems you had that allowed you to grow up earlier than most people nowdays

I was a bum and was working with my mom because I didn’t wanna go to school or find a job. I was depressed ever since I left HS because I gotten really fat and it made me insecure. All I did was hide from my problems and when someone would bring up “ so what do you wanna do for your career” I’d get super defensive. I started a new job about 2 months ago and I’m glad my sister helped me get out of my hole. She saw what I was becoming and wanted the best for me. I did too thought that one relapse was gonna ruin my whole self for at least a week or so. Guess what it happened that very way. Guilt and ruined mentality are optional.
You’re a human being 5mn of porn can’t do you that harm. Keep quitting that’s for sure. But don’t dramatize. At least it’s my advice.
If you stick to discipline to quit in my opinion you also have to be wise enough to be able to loose. And loose well sometimes, letting go. It’s okay. It ruined me before so I had to say it.

Social circle and videogames got me brah. Dropped both for about 2 years and got into medical school. But a social circle stunts your growth, don't be close friends with guys unless there's an objective to complete... it's a waste of time. 21 - 24 was a brutal growth period for me, but now I fall back onto the skills/mentality I developed during that time.

He definitely has the right idea in mind but only take his words with grains of salt. Go workout. Go meet new people. Go work hard for money. But don’t put so much toxic pressure on yourself. Go eat that donut once in awhile. Go play that game and immerse yourself. Go watch that show and enjoy a fun night. Take life in grains of satisfaction and also be willing to work hard. Don’t have this idea that you need to hustle 24/7 in order to be happy. Just don’t be a lazy fuck.
Hustle culture is toxic and when you put so much pressure on yourself to be consistent all the time; there will be moment when you aren’t consistent and that shame will creep on you hard. Be accepting of your strengths and weaknesses and be open minded and forgiving.
You don’t need to be the richest, smartest, charismatic, or greatest person in the room. You just need to be yourself and not give up on you!

Good video-although I have one issue. For me, working out is a time wasting cope as well. It's not genuinely something uncomfortable and I thoroughly enjoy it. Obviously it's beneficial for out of shape guys, but once you reach a certain level of fitness, the returns start to diminish. I'm addicted to the rush of the experience so I pour many hours into it, even though it's not too rewarding. It would be better if that energy were poured into working on creative projects or making large amounts of money, but I find trying to focus on that stuff literally painful. I assume I'm not the only one who has fallen into this trap.

Lol at "Salaried job bad". I still don't understand this weird fetishization of "entrepreneurship". The average business owner in the US makes 68k a year. And that does not include benefits. The average business owner with at least 20 years experience makes 75k vs average business owners with less than 20 years making around 60k. This means that 20 years of "hustle" for the average business owner improved his salary by 15k.
Meanwhile entry level engineers average 61k while 10 years experience average 110k. That's 49k in 10 years of "comfort".
The way you make money means nothing. All that matters is that you have meaning, purpose, growth, and are financially stable enough to support the family you desire.

I recently let go of my social circle cause I didn't like the direction they were headed in, they were partying and stuff and I just wasn't for me. I was wondering where can I find healthier friends cause the people I always end up running into did the same stuff my last social circle did and I just have to end it there

Facts man. I wish I had some friends I could spend time with learning a paid skill like copy writing (which I’m going to start learning Monday after Christmas) with. Having 2-3 people to work with together on it would help us all succeed.

when it comes to me and comfort, i often want to work 'comfortably'. what i mean by that is if i just know that i'm doing good for where i am at working hard and climbing my way to success, then i feel good that i am in a good spot. of course it shouldn't last long as i know i should take it up a notch as soon as i can. and then i'd feel good again for making progress.

One thing you didn’t mention as a very common vice that men consume and overly indulge in is pornographic content. If consumed in excess, it becomes one of the leading causes to demotivated young men and adds to the overdose of comfortability. Men are less inclined to seek beautiful women in person and would rather watch them get naked online because it’s so much easier to just press the dopamine button.

When you consistently fail at meeting women in real life you really have no chouce but to consume pornography. Some us just were never meant to interact with women because we're not seen as normal. I'm 25 and not a single girlfriend despite all my efforts.

This new year's Eve I decided that me and my friends will go to a club instead of being at home. Which is for all of us "leaving the comfort zone" Noone of wanted to go there. And a thing that makes me laugh is that I asked 3 girls to dance 1st Girl said: I want to go sleep, *left* 2nd Girl : I'm lesbian, she wasn't but she probably didn't want to meet anyone new or she thought that I want her for only the one thing (which is true) 3rd girl: I'm dancing with my friends. But as usually some 50 yo granny was showing interest in me. Still after 3 hours of sleep I'm happy that I made this decision and approached more girls than in whole 2022.
