    Great review. I bought a white one 3 weeks ago. Pretty much spot on many of the comments. The rears are adjustable but a PITA. The range is about 24 on electric. I am getting 38mpg on gas. I have fun cars, I bought this for my surf mobile and its perfect with the activity key.

Love your reviews and your 850R content as an ‘04 V70 T5M owner; you're one of the very very few that transmit our beloved inline-5 sound on video properly! Do you think you'd ever get the chance to review a Polestar 1 or 2?
    Don't understand why Volvo ditched the old 367hp Polestar engine in favor of the normal 316 hp T6 (328 with that P* tune) to combine it with the hybrid powertrain. Why not use the old one (367hp) and add the hybridized system on top of *that* engine instead of the normal one.

  • @vomErsten
    @vomErsten 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The important questions here:
    - Compared to a T6 R-Design S60, how does the acceleration feel? I've heard the Polestar described as negligibly better.
    - When does the tuning community release a mod for removing the presumptuous 112 mph cap?

    • @SlyFoxl
      @SlyFoxl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      nothing confirmed but the top speed cap is going to be in the ecu and when havent tuner companies not been able to fully modify that given some time? and isnt that first on the 2021 models ?
      the hybrid driveline models are quite noticeable heavier than the t6 driveline. you might also feel it in corners etc. only upside to the hybrid imo is taxes (varying on country etc tho) and low fuel usage on daily driving

    • @vomErsten
      @vomErsten 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      「Sly Fox」 Thanks for the info. There are piggyback mods available for the current gen S60; depending on what inputs Volvo uses to trigger the limiter, a piggyback mod might still work to spoof it. What I do know is that I do not believe it is Volvo's place to limit the car like that and I will not get a MY2020 Volvo or newer (it is being implemented starting now, IIRC) as long as it is compulsory without any aftermarket option to get rid of it.
      You don't build and market a sports sedan and then handicap everything sporty about it.

    I have a 5.1 system on a Denon amp connected to my computer. You know the car sound system is good when it's bangin from my computer through TH-cam from a mic recording. It must sound amazing in person.
    I'm so freaking conflicted right now because I have a Mustang Mach E GT on order, but my wife got an XC60 Inscription and I absolutely love it. Then I found out about these Polestar wagons and I'm seriously debating the wagon now. I know a lot of people like the last version with the louder motor and all of that, but I'm looking for something quiet and also fast. It won't be as fast as the Mach E GT but man I love the Volvo too. I wish there was a way to sit in one of these before ordering it, can't even see the colors first. I'd probably get it in the Crystal White Metallic color, but that grey is super nice too at least on camera.

      @@jensfos I actually ended up getting a Genisis GV70 and freaking love it. I found out about them when they had just come out and no one really knew about them. So I was able to go see all of the color options, test drive them, and found one at MSRP. Now if you go to a Genesis lot they're empty and I see them driving around. When I got mine I didn't see another one on the road for probably a couple of months, it was the first car I had purchased where people really noticed it while I was driving around.

      @@Hardcaslte now that's a neat looking SUV! I'll admit, I have never seen a Genesis, as they're not sold here (Norway). If they were, that would be a sure contender! Being that its not plug in hybrid or full EV, it's doubtful it would ever be sold here.

    This thing is amazing, but I worry about reliability with all of that extra technology. A T6 R-Design would be my choice. On a different note, why did Volvo kill the V60 T6 in the US? They only had it for 2019. Now all they have is the FWD T5 and the Polestar. Seems strange, especially considering that Canada (and many other markets) still get the T6, and the T6 drivetrain is already homologated for the US market in the V60 because of that 1st model year availability. What gives? Bring it back Volvo!

    Are you always going as fast as you comfortably can on the right sweeping on ram right after “let’s try this again”? For example, you were going about 60 here - the same as you did in a Q7 awhile ago and far behind the M340 going high 60’s (if I remember correctly). It’d be dope if you could just compare that speed across videos - but also totally understand they may not always be the same.

It's that single failure that just kills this car as an alternative to the Germans on a technical level. With Heico announcing that they are looking into ways to defeat Volvo's speed limiter, even that is no longer as large of an issue.

    I drive a 2019 BMW 530d x-drive and when i have tried out the volvo i seriously miss the joystick for the whole entertainment system and the nav. Volvos system is complaicaited and takes away the concentration from the driving. You need to take your eyes off the road to search thru the damn menu on the volvo. Way too complaicated.
    In the BMW i can even write adresses in the via using just a finger on the joystick.
    And the volvo definitly needs a aftermarket exhaust system coz it is sadly waaaaay to quiet.

    These new Volvos are incredibly disappointing. Coming from an S40 T5 owner, I was very sad to find out that Volvo has no plans of ever reintroducing the T5 again...

      I agree, love Volvo’s, and this one is nice. But the fact that they’re limiting the new Volvo’s to 180 km/h and the lack of engine roar is so sad. I have a 2014 S60 T6 with the 3.0 liter engine with a nice exhaust, you could never get that feeling in any Volvo now.

      Trey Darkis considering that it’s supercharged, turbocharged, and electrically charged. There is way more mechanical movement all around the vehicle. More moving parts, the higher the possibility of something going wrong. That’s why he wrote “probably”.

    Looks just like any regular V60, except for some few details. Doesnt look that sporty. Its better to put on a bodykit and the Polestar sticker and then tune the engine. Also the performance doesnt really match the huge pricetag. If you want a real sporty wagon, go for an AMG or RS car.
