That bolt lift is normal. You're compressing the spring in the bolt when you cock it. All my 700 style actions are like this. Nice review! I have the same rifle in 6.5 prc. It's the most accurate hunting rifle I've ever owned.

The comment on Remington 700s is not true. New 700s are much improved since they resumed production under the new management. I recently set up a new production 700 Varmint in 308 with a 5R barrel 1-10, bedded into a B&C stock, Trigger Tech trigger aet at 2 3/4lb, Tract scope. Factory Federal Gold Medal 175 Sierras group at 1/2 MOA, sometimes a little better. Have a bunch of 700s...they all shoot. That said, I think the Christensen is a great rifle too.

Hmmm. Scheels has a version of this rifle for $1,099.99
I'm looking for a 6.5 PRC for use on deer & smaller game in Idaho, in an area where distances can go 75yds - 450yds. This looks promising for the money, but I'm not thrilled about a trigger that is not user-adjustable and the length of bolt throw. Tradeoffs.
    Good review. Well covered.

@@DadHominem it’s definitely user adjustable, it just voids the warranty. I think Christensen will adjust it for you, but then you have to send it to them. Which isn’t great.
      Great rifle, thanks for commenting!

You gave an excellent review. I have the Ridgeline in 7mm08 and my bolt is same as yours as in the stick bolt throw but that's not been a problem

I appreciate that! With my father’s in 7-08, the bolt stick is there, but it’s lesser than mine. So I’m not sure what that’s all about. I was just out shooting some long range this afternoon and I never noticed it in real world use, so I’d say it’s a non-issue.

If you can find one in 7mm-08, you better get it. Their website shows they’re only offering the mesa in 4 calibers now, excluding the 7-08. Not sure what’s up with that? I did get one in 7-08 last year and it shot the Hornady AW great but really liked the Federal 140 gr Fusion.

@@youngin881 glad we picked one up. I don’t understand why 7-08 is falling off. With a 308 parent case and a pretty high performing bullet diameter it’s a really useful cartridge in general. Thanks for the comment!

Good video but after doing some ground work I decided to with Bergara Wilderness Terrain in 6.5 Creed I had a chance to check out my Son’s CA and I wasn’t a fan but I put a Vortex Viper Genll 3-15-44 and it’s a tack driver

Good thing you got the Mesa. I've not heard or read anything bad about those, only good things. Stay clear of their Ridgeline though. My gunsmith tells me he had to rebarrel about 80 last year. CA carbon fiber barrels are apparently more junk than high quality.

    • @Outdoor-Tactics
      @Outdoor-Tactics  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

That’s crazy but good to know. I think the price hike for carbon barrels is only worth it to a very select few, and that proof research is the only company I’d get one from anyway. Great rifle so far though, taking it out to extended ranges this coming weekend, results to follow.

@@Outdoor-Tactics Great. I'm eager to watch. I think I'm addicted to watching people shoot their rifles. Sadly I can only shoot to 100 at our local range but to 650 on my dad's property. Proof is an excellent way to go for sure but don't rule out Bartlein, Benchmark, and Helix for CF barrels. I have one Proof barrel, a Tikka 7PRC. Bartlein has about the best interior finish but they keep more metal in the center than Proof. Thus, they are a bit heavier but insanely accurate

Was shooting today and of course the AR fan boys showed up. One with a brake on his rifle. I being about 20ft from him had to go get ear plugs to put in with my muffs. Dude was ticking my ears with his nonsense rapid fire at nothing. Always know every time I see those 100rd range packs lol. It's like wake boarders while in fishing. They always will find you on a huge body of water

Relatable. I shoot suppressed almost always at this point, and absolutely always with my AR's. One because it makes them better at their job, and two for the comfort. I also fish electric-only lakes now more than ever to combat pleasure boaters 🤣

@@Outdoor-Tactics Luckily I am a shift worker. I fish on the week days. The Tennessee River(Lake) system has gotten out of control with the great migration. Weekend boat traffic is endless. Those wake boarders WILL find you and circle you blaring obnoxious rap music while throwing super tanker wake. Carpet Baggers sent real estate through the roof in the south and are bringing their voting habits with them. Nashville is now called Trashville

I'm getting tired of waiting on Tikka releasing a 7mm PRC. I'd grab one of these in a heartbeat if they hadn't of went up $300-$400 in the last few years. Maybe 2025 Tikka will get on the ball.

@@adamelam6385 I’m extremely pleased with its performance out to 700 yards as well. Again factory ELDX ammo, very easy to walk out and validate using 4DOF. Steady 15mph winds and huge crowds at the public range made filming hard but hopefully I can in the future. But it’s boringly accurate to those ranges.
