I’ve used the stingers for years, but recently this last year went to QAD exodus as I just feel it’s better quality. My experience with the stingers is the aluminum ferrule doesn’t hold up well to hitting solid structure like bone and breaks. I have heard the black hornet 150s are steel so I might give them a go eventually, but for now I’m thoroughly impressed with the QAD edge retention and just how quiet they fly.

Only my son decided to throw a fit and was sitting at the other end of the tree. If you could imagine a 6or 7 year old crying in about the spot where this deer was shot. I saw a buck coming and told my son. He stopped crying and the deer walked right past him about 3’. Once he cleared I drew my bow and shot the deer about 5 yards away from my son. He got a super close view. He jumped up and said “I didn’t know that hunting could be so exciting. 😂

I have been a die-hard 450 Bushmaster fan since I bought my Ruger Ranch rifle 6 years ago. It is nice and compact but has a little recoil, not too much though. I have harvested a few deer with it here in Ohio w/ Hornady Black 250gr FTX bullets. However, I have had shoulder issues this year and decided to get a 350 Legend for the lower recoil, and man the recoil basically cut in half with the 350. I got a Savage Trailhunter Lite 18" threaded barrel w/ a Hogue stock. The action, feeding, bolt throw, and overall feel are 10x better than my Ruger Ranch. No failure to feed with this Savage which has plagued my Ruger Ranch. The stock does not get cold in winter like other plastic stocks. Two days ago I harvested two whitetails with it. I used Federal Powershok 180gr sp bullets. Both deer dropped dead right where I shot them which has never happened to me in my life. They always run at least 20-100 yards with my 450 BM and 50 cal muzzleloader. The exit holes were massive and extremely surprised since all the reviews I have watched complain about the 350 Legend bullets saying they overpenetrate and do not expand. This was not the case for me. Two for two is not a coincidence, I will never bring another rifle on a deer hunt in Ohio again. It just works.

Gentlemen, It's come to my attention that my ballistic data is off in this video. I used hornady's calculators on their site vs box-posted data but must have punched in the wrong value somewhere. Regardless, I'm still cutting the 350 Legend off at 250 yards, and accounting for the drop and drift with either a BDC reticle or dial-up turrets. I recommend punching in the values to a calculator like the one on www.hornady.com and building a dope chart with your personal measured muzzle velocity. Remember to also validate that chart at the range. Cheers! 🍻

@@dittman2564 the 450 does more as far as energy goes, but loses points in drop and heavier recoil for me. But it’s absolutely effective.

@@Outdoor-Tactics yep, for close in fairly tough and/or large animals like pigs, and even predator protection, between the two, I would choose the 450BM. For deer, in general, the 350L is potentially a better choice as long as the distance isn't stretched too far.

Right on, I have the same thoughts. Guys I hunt with all use 450 bushmaster but to be honest their argument is basically (big gun go boom, 350 is for women) it's not very scientific to say the least lol. I think 350 is a far more efficient cartridge. I love efficient cartridges same reason I love 6.5 creedmoor. Vortex Nation did a really great ballistic test too if you haven't seen it, "350 Legend vs 450 Bushmaster - The Straight-Wall Shootout" ; I won't spoil it but watch it for sure the results speak for themselves.

The 6.5 PRC is an okay cartridge I bought one used in a cheaper Savage combo package worked up a load using the Hornady 140 SST shot a deer with it at 42 yards dropped her right there . Now before I got it I already had a 6.5-06 I’d built and a 6.5 Sherman Short Mag I’d also built . All three are about the same in practical application , I still have the 6.5-06 and Sherman they were both built on 700 actions with Shilen barrels which I happen to like , Savage while quite accurate never really won me over so it went down the road for a slight profit . I was a little amazed you have a brake on your PRC I didn’t think the recoil deserved it , matter of fact I built a 26 Nosler on a 700 action 3 or 4 years earlier and had the barrel finished at 26 3/4” my idea being if I thought it needed a brake I could install one and if I didn’t like it I could remove it and still finish the barrel at 26” long story short the barrels still 26 3/4” unthreaded . But as I’m well aware perceived recoil is not the same for everyone as well as the stock fit to the person 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you believe in a cartridge then it makes sense , if you have qualms about it not so much until the person stops questioning it . We’ve still got quite a bit more season in my county of VA I’m hoping to take one this season with a 50 cal air rifle I bought two years ago . But I’ll hold my shots to no more than 50 yards .

I hunted WV in 2023 on a piece of private land owned by a cousin in Randolph county close to Elkins . Hung my climber Sunday around lunch time . Got up Monday went out rode my ATV to within 100 yards of my stand . I was planning on leaving Wednesday morning to go back to VA so having two buck tags and a doe tag I wasn’t gonna be overly picky . If memory serves legal shooting light that morning was at 06:45-06:50 , long about 07:05 a five point walked up behind me so I turned around and shot him with my 6.5x54 MS shooting Handloaded Nosler 140 BT and dropped him on the spot . I sat there awhile longer thinking I’d stay until 9 or 10 . Along about 08:15 two doe were coming up the mountain straight towards me so I picked out the larger one shot her and she tumbled about thirty yards from where I shot her this time I used a Nosler 140 AB handload . Before anyone asks I typically load three to five different bullets for most rifles then check POI with the same sight in at 50-100 and 200 and if everything works out usually each round in the gun has a different bullet . And that was the case this day . After that I got down gutted the buck drug him out to where I could get the ATV to him drug him down the hill then went after the doe took them back to the cabin skinned them and cut all the meat from the bones bagged it up and in the cooler , without a tree and gambrel to hang the two what takes me an hour and a half at home took about four hours this day on my trailer . Had the second buck tag still to be used but they were calling for a downpour on Tuesday so I stayed in the cabin until after lunch when I went out got my treestand got my truck and trailer loaded up so I had very little to do Wednesday morning and could hit the road early as I had a three hour drive to get home on the day before Thanksgiving . Didn’t go this year wish I had but that’s how it goes 🤷🏻‍♂️👍🏻
