Hi there, thanks very much for visiting my channel and for taking time out your day to watch this video. I do not find many silver hammered coins, so it is always such a buzz for me to find something like this :)
Hi Jacob, it really is a beautiful place to be, especially on nice sunny days like this. This permission has become very special to me, I love being here. Next episode was filmed here and had another amazing day!! Thanks so much for tuning in week after week. G
Hi James, thanks for the kind words. I could not think of anywhere better to take Ash. This permission has everything, its a stunning place to spend a Sunday and it keeps on popping up these exciting finds. Thanks as always for taking the time to watch. G
Hello there, great to see you again in the comments section. Thank you for the kind words and I very much look forward to seeing you again on my next metal detecting adventure. Have a great week. Gareth
Hi there Terry, cheers mate, I had such an awesome day, its amazing what this hobby can throw up when you least expect it. I was here again over the bank holiday weekend, not quite as exciting but I did find my best ever Edward VII silver coin in amongst all the newborn lambs. Thanks as always for tuning in and watching. G
Hi Nathaniel, yeah this was one of my best days of the year and the best day I've ever had on this permission. I've been slaying this place for 2 years now and brought many guests on here. Amazing what keeps coming up on here, I love this hobby! Thanks so much for the channel visit. G
Hi mate, thank you, yes, this was my best ever day on this permission and I've been 30 - 40 times over the last 2 years. I did not find any hammered silver coins on here in my first year on here, now I have found 4 in the last 8 months or so. This hobby is awesome!! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch. Gareth
Hi David, thank you for the kind words. I must admit I have had a really really good 2023 so far metal detecting wise. I don't normally find stuff like this, just on a bit of a hot streak. I went detecting on Saturday and only found a few crusty Georgians, so back on a silver drought haha. Thanks for taking time out your day to watch another of my videos. Gareth
Hi Ian, thanks mate, I've been detecting this site hard for 18 months now and this was my best ever day here!! Just goes to show a great permission is never done. There has to be gold on here somewhere, I just know it!! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and for supporting my channel. G
Hey there Del, thanks mate, yes the silver thimble is my favourite silver find so far this year. the condition was amazing, not even slightly dented or compacted. I think it is quite an old one too, potentially Georgian. Love this hobby on days like this and on a permission I've been hammering for 18 months. Thanks as always for tuning in and catch you on the next one. G
What a video that was and it instantly took me right back there and what a place to spend the day. The finds were incredible but the day spent with great company was just as great.
Hi mate, this was a really great day, everything was perfect, apart from you somehow not managing to find any silver!! It really is a great place to go metal detecting and I'm sure you now know why I keep on heading up there, it really is becoming a special place for me
Hi Sandra, because of where I live I am surrounded by places like this. When I am looking for new permissions, one of the key attributes I look for is how scenic / beautiful it is, as I figure if I like a place, chances are so will other people and people through out the centuries :) Thanks so much for taking time out your day to watch, hope to see you again. G
Hi Karl, thanks mate, it really was a crazy 30 minutes on a permission I've hammered over the last 18 months. Love this hobby, you just never know what you are going to uncover. Thanks as always for tuning in and taking the time to watch. G
Hi Rob, great to hear from you mate. Nice to receive compliments about my presenting skills seeing as I am a complete novice haha. You'd be amazed by the amount of times I have to film my intros/outros and how much gets deleted!! I am genuinely useless, but I am working on it. As a quiet shy guy it is a difficult skill to come by. Thanks as always for taking the time to watch and for your awesome support! Catch you on the next one. Gareth
Great vid Gareth - excellent finds - Elizabethan hammered and Victoria sixpence !! The thimble looks really good too. So nice to see you and Ash out again ! Lookin' forward to more ! all the best.
Hey there Troy, thank you for the kind words. The big green hillside really did spoil me on this day. It was awesome to spend all weekend detecting with Ash and it was a pleasure to watch both of the videos and relive the moments. We are hoping to do another wild camp + detect weekender in the very near future :) Thanks as always for your dedication to my channel. G
Hi Kelvin, thank you very much for watching and for the kind words. I really enjoyed making this video, had some amazing finds on a permission I have hammered for almost 2 years!! I'll be back on here again next month with a friend and we'll be stopping the night in hammocks. Watch this space haha
Hi mate, thank you for the kind words as always and for tuning in and watching week after week. I am really struggling to upload content at the moment, I feel like I have no time for my channel any more :'( I will keep trying though!! G
Hi there Anne, thank you for the kind words. I did have a very good day here, felt a little bad for Ash. I know these hills and I know where I have been and not been, its been an incredibly fruitful permission over the last 2 years and I can't wait to see what else I find on here
Hi Mate How envious I am of the fantasy nature. Here in Denmark, all fields are grown with cereals, maize or rapeseed. In a little while, it has grown too high and it will be impossible to walk on for the next 3-4 months. As always, totally love your beautiful videos. See you for the next video. Br Henrik
Hi mate, wow that sounds like quite a different landscape there. There is lots of that over here too, but not so much where I live in the hills. Surely there are hills in Denmark and pasture fields like this??
Hi Mate There are a few fields where grazing cattle go, but they are rare. We are over 10,000 metal detector people in Denmark, so they are long occupied. Over 70% of all Denmark's land is cultivated.... So I'll just have to watch your amazing videos of your beautiful landscape. Br Henrik
@@MultiSkywalker88 I bet there are 100,000 detectorists in the UK and rapidly growing. I have never been to Denmark, it definitely sounds like it does not suit my type of metal detecting !!
Now then Gary mate how ya doin? How was this for a days detectin? Proper dream day foe me that and on a permission I have detected hard for the last 18 months or so. You just never know what you are going to find. Take it easy dude. Gareth
what a great days haul, well done Gareth, i know you probably sit there at times and think.. oh god i had to get all the b-roll clips, set up and take down tripods, cameras, drones, the editing, the music etc, but it really stands you apart from the rest. keep smashing those video's out......... hammmmeeerreedddd
Hi Chris, its comments like this that help to keep me motivated and inspired to be creative in the content I upload. It can be tough seeing other metal detecting channels upload very average content, but because they find gold and silver treasure all the time, they get masses of views and subscribers. My channel will always be a real metal detecting channel, that will never change. Also, I really enjoy capturing what I capture and seeing what I can do each week with the footage that I record. I just wish I had more free time to be able to do it. Every week is another deadline and a rush to try to get a video (or project as I call them) finished. As soon as I finish one, I immediately begin working on the next. Its never ending haha. But I love it, and as long as I remain passionate about it, I will carry on doing what I do. So thank you for keeping me inspired. G
Another glorious video with 2 top lads! That was a cracking 30 minutes mate (Ash said it was 20 😂) with tons of lovely finds....I'm desperate for a big hammered coin - I've only ever found the tiny ones! Looking forward to May's fun! Let's hope for gorgeous weather to sleep under the stars with! Lovely Mila at the end too - looking forward to meeting your lovely family pal
Hi Marcus, well this permission is now in my top 3 permissions of all time for finding hammered silvers on. I have found 4 on here now, 3 big, 1 tiny. I don't care what size they are, but I usually only find big ones on my Derbyshire pasture sites as I imagine most of the small ones are undetectable. Mate the weather is currently perfect, 12 degrees, sun, blue skies, spring blossom. I've got tomorrow off work and I'm going detecting, but I have not decided where yet!! Thanks as always for tuning in and taking the time to watch. After several months I have as of now got zero comments to reply too!!!
Hi mate, thanks for the kind words, I love getting my daughter involved, thought it might bring more ladies to my channel seeing as 99.99999% of my viewers are blokes haha. The finds on this one were top notch, I had my best ever day on that permission and I've been there 30+ times. Thanks as always for watching. G
Great going Gareth. The Lizzie 6d was in great shape but that thimble was a absolute stunner. Not squashed at all. Very rare to get them in that good a shape. Well done. Take care mate 🦘🦘😁👍
Hi mate, thanks for the warm comments from warmer climates :) This is a permission I've been hitting hard for 18 months or more, and yet this was my best ever day there. How crazy this hobby can be! The thimble is exquisite and sits proudly in my display cabinet at home. Thanks as always for finding the time to tune in. Gareth
Hi mate, this was an EPIC day for me on a heavily detected permission. You just never know what you are going to find, there are good days and bad days. This was an EPIC day!! Thanks as always for supporting my channel. I have replied to about 8 of your comments today :)
Silver timble, thats awsome, I have never found a complete one and my display cabinet is screaming for one. Congrats mate! And never wrong to see a silvercoin with a crisp year starting on 15! 🍾🥳
Hi mate, i must admit this is by far the best ever silver thimble I've ever found. My first ever one was squished. I then found a complete one, but very thin silver and very very dark coloured. This amazing silver thimble was 8 years in the making! Couple weeks later I found a piece of a damaged one. They do make a nice addition to the display cabinet. And yes the hammered silver coin was also very welcomed, an amazing day in the office for sure. Thanks so much for coming along. G
Fantastic watch again Gareth _ great finds. All Queen Elizabeth1st coins have a poor stamp of her image, but the obverse is usually pretty good.., like yours. Thimble looked new.😊
Hi Michael, do you think that was the case with this hammered coin then and not that it had been purposely rubbed off? Thanks, the thimble was truly spectacular and in perfect and complete condition. It had to happen 1 day, took me 8 years to find that. Thanks as always for taking the time to watch and choosing to support my channel. Gareth
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire I found an Elizabeth1st shilling ( martlett-1562) in thick clay and obverse was superb, like newly minted, but Elizabeth image was not struck as good. All my Elizabeth's are same.
Wow 1562. I believe that is the earliest dated coin I've ever seen. I love those hammered coins. And the complete silver thimble is sweet as well. Congratulations on an excellent outing.
Hello there, thanks so much for taking the time to watch this video and for leaving me a comment. I wonder what the oldest UK dated coin is, what a great pub quiz question that would be? I would have no idea to be honest, but it could well be an Elizabeth I coin. I might try and investigate! Thanks again for joining me on this epic day and I hope to see you again on my next episode. Gareth
Hi well you were right it was a good day and i have still not found a silver thimble ?? , nice finds mate and lovely looking land just good to be out there , nice video as usual ATB Rob 👍
Hi mate, yes it was an amazing day! And this is a permission I've hammered for almost 2 years. That thimble is simply stunning and sits proudly in my glass cabinet. Thanks as always for tuning in youth and supporting my channel. G
Great video again, lovely silvers, you are right they didn't like Elizabeth 1, used to rub the coins to deface. Cracking thimble in great condition. Keep up the great work!
Hi mate, thanks for the warm comments, this really was an awesome day for me on a permission I've battered for almost 2 years. Amazing what keeps coming up off here now. 4 hammered silver coins off this place, that's a good return for me on a permission. Most of my permissions I've never found a hammered on!! Thanks as always for tuning in and taking the time to watch. G
You’ve definitely got the detecting gods shining on you at the moment. Fair play mate, another wonderful day’s detecting. Four silvers with us, 3 silvers with Ash, it’s relentless mate!! Great video
Hi Andy, I completely agree, another 2 silvers from this hillside on Saturday inc my best ever Edward VII silver coin. The Deus2 is on fire right now 🔥🔥🔥
Now then Shawn, cheers mate, amazing to think I been hitting this place hard for almost 2 years and I have a day like this. I'm tellin ya there's a gold ring on there somewhere!! Thanks as always for tuning in and supporting the channel. G
Hi mate, thank you for the kind words, and also for taking the time to watch. This was an awesome day for me, especially considering this is a permission I have hammered hard for 18+ months. Thanks again and I hope to see you on the next episode. G
Lovely stuff mate, and great to see you're managing to keep the production values high! Very similar day 4u as my own Saturday dig - including an almost identical 'slate-grey silver' Vicky sixpence, harness ring, spindle whorl and musket ball 🤓 Shame I didn't get the Lizzy shilling but, beleive it or not, my detecting bud had one up today... 😅 All going splendidly as we approach the better weather. Thanks 🙏 matey, much appreciated... Bobby 🌺 🎶
Hey Bobby, thanks for such an awesome comment and very kind words. I do try to make my production different to any other channel out there. But it is huge amounts of time and effort and I am struggling to keep up with weekly uploads at the moment, but I will keep at it! Can't beat a nicely toned silver coin, well done on finding yours. Thanks as always for dedicating your time to watch my channel :) G
Another great video as always Gareth shame southern searcher never bagged up but some great finds came out and some great video editing keep up the hard work mate 👍
Hi mate, thanks for the nice comments and of course for taking the time to watch another of my videos. Ash was a long way from home here, this is my land, my terrain, he never stood a chance in a competition. But I know he had a damn good time being there, its a special place for me and a beautiful place. G
Hey Nick, thanks so much for the really kind words, I work really hard on the content I upload so really appreciate comments like this. So thank you and thank you for joining me and I hope to see you again on the next one. Gareth
Hello, thanks for the kind words and also for taking the time to watch this video :) Its amazing to think I have been detecting this place heavily for 18 months and I can have a day like this! Best hobby in the world. Thanks again and I hope to see you on the next episode. Gareth
Hi Mark, thanks for the awesome comments. A big part my my love for the hobby and a big part of my TH-cam channel is about the countryside. I am a big lover of the great British countryside and the annual climate we endure. Every day is different and its a pleasure for me to be able to do what I do. Thanks for dedicating your time to watch and support my channel. G
Wow you’re having the detecting gods smile on you lately mate 😮 Great finds 👍🏻 Oh and I went back in and learnt how to layer music and SFX onto that video of mine. I’ll send you a link, see what you think comparing it to the original.
Hi mate, I totally agree, I have been on an amazing streak through February, March and April. Although, I went out Saturday and found nothing but Georgian crusty coppers, a couple of buttons and a buckle. Ya win some ya lose some in this hobby!! Well done on figuring out how to add music and sound FX, I will check it out. Thanks for watching another of my videos. G
Hi mate, thank you for the kind words. Its amazing to know I have been detecting this place hard for almost 2 years and this was my best day ever on there. You just never know what you are going to unearth. Thanks again and I hope to see you on the next episode. Gareth
Some great and weird finds, lovely silver coins and ANOTHER hammered! Nice thimble, and some good jokes of you saying shimble 🤣more finds for the cabinet. I really wonder what that penny thing was? A question we will probably never know the answer to Hope you and the family are well, keep it up
Hey there Sam, thanks for the awesome comments mate. Still waiting for help identifying the weird penny thing, that's all I can call it haha. It was pretty much a dream day for me with those stunning silver finds, and this is a permission that's been heavily detected by me. Hope you guys had a nice Easter break. G
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire penny thing🤣 the only thing I was thinking it could of been was some sort of LED light display but it's very strange so have no clue what's so ever, had a great Easter break, back home now and of course there's rain back in Brum 🤣🤣
Hi Ryan, thanks mate, 3 really amazing silver finds for me but that thimble was incredible and now sits proudly in my glass display cabinet at home. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch, hope to see you on the next episode. G
Nice...😁 Also Love the way you do the filming .... great job and perfect location.... you make it easy to convert people to metal detecting.... but it must be harder finding key locations and negotiating with landowners. 👍
Hello, thank you very much for your very kind words and also for taking time out your day to watch this video of mine. I do have my own style and I try to make content that is pleasing on the eye and as neatly edited as I am capable of. Hardest part of metal detecting is finding good land and getting permission. I have been doing this 8 years, so I have some really beautiful places I can detect. Thanks again and I hope to see you on the next episode. Gareth
Hi mate, that's awesome to find Roman anything, something I struggle to find here in Derbyshire on my pasture fields. Thanks as always for taking the time to watch and I hope to see you on my next metal detecting expedition. G
Hi mate, thanks for watching this video. That huge silver thimble is one of my favourite ever finds as it is in the most perfect condition, not even slightly out of shape. Thanks again for watching, I hope to see you again on some of my 300 other metal detecting videos. Gareth
Fantastic 3 lovely silvers all completely different, love every one of them, but that thimble is perfect, I just showed it to Wendy and she loved it, not even dented or crushed, metal detecting perfection, there was only one thing missing, no pasties lol well done Gareth. PS I commented on one of Ash's videos but it doesn't show because he will need to approve it, I think the youtube algorithm picks some comments up as spam and puts them in "held for review" section , can you tell him I am genuine please Gareth.
Hi mate, you were right, this comment was in the approval folder. I will have a word with Ash and tell him to check his. I seen ya other comment too, will approve that one shortly. This was an amazing day and I was utterly amazed with the condition of that thimble, like you say, pure perfection! Thanks as always for tuning in and taking the time to watch. Say hi to Wendy. Gareth
Haha Ash isn't used to such a rugged landscape. The hat tossing has cooled down a bit hasn't it. I do have 7 or 8 full videos filmed last year to edit which all probably have hat throwing in. I may try to introduce it again a bit more. Thanks as always Philip for your awesome support. G
What a days detecting, especially when it's a permission you've been on for years. We'll done. I've not found anything any good since my last hammered coin. Although my lovely wife has just got me a permission on a farm in Oxfordshire, over 100 acres, with a Roman road running through the middle of it. It's a long drive away and I don't know if it's been detected before, but I'm so excited! Can't wait to go and have a days digging there. Hopefully find a silver Roman 🙏 Great video as always. 😊
Hi mate, yeah a really good day with some really nice and interesting finds. Absolutely chuffed to bits with the thimble. I know you have had some epic finds since you wrote this comment haha. How on earth has your missus bagged you a permission in Oxfordshire???
@The Dukes Of Derbyshire Haha. Yes.. very happy with my recent hammered coins. I checked the time on the pics I took... 25 minutes apart!! I've never had 2 hammered coins in the same month before. Then 2 in less than half hour. Wicked day. The farm in Oxfordshire is where my wife had her horse from many years ago, she went back recently and happened to mention my detecting 'obsession ' and they were kind enough to say I van go and detect there. I can't wait. Hopefully make a weekend of it. I've never detected on a roman road before.. So excited 😊 🤗 Take care 🙂
Hey Dave, thanks so much for taking time out your day to watch my video. I never really am sure what these things are when I find them, i seem to find a lot though. When they are nice and smooth like this, I wax them and put them in a jar. Thanks again, I hope to see you on the next episode. Gareth
Hello, thanks so much for taking time out your day to watch this video and for supporting my channel. This really was an epic day for me, 3 amazing finds on a permission I've hammered for 18+ months. Thanks again and I hope to see you on the next episode. Gareth
Haha, Ash was a long way from home on unfamiliar ground, he's not used to this land and I don't think he was using the best settings. Whenever I bring people onto my permissions, I always seem to do better than them. Although I have 1 friend who is a complete amateur, yet every time I go detecting with him, he absolutely kills me!! Thanks as always for donating 20 minutes of your life to watch this video :) G
Again a very nice upload from Hardcore Gareth! This time he demoralised Ash. He finally found something, he is good At. Improvement instead of poor Paddy! Very old tudor horse decoration. Think youre right about the Silver thimble 1700-1750?! 10k subs Before summer? 👍😜🔝❤️🐣
Hello there Toni, haha demoralised Ash, he was a long way from home on my turf. There are not many people who can match me when it comes to hillside pasture metal detecting. Stick me on a ploughed or arable field and I am like a cow with a gun and have no idea. The silver thimble is absolutely stunning, perhaps my favourite silver find of 2023 so far. 10k subs will be a nice milestone in the next couple of weeks. I had hoped to do a giveaway and give away a metal detector, but I don't think that will happen. As always thanks so much for supporting a real metal detecting channel. Gareth
First one looks like one of the roses which represented various affiliations over time throughout English history. The three most famous being the London mint rose on hammered coins, and the Yorkshire/Lancashire roses...there may well have been a Mercian Rose...not sure 🤔 There was a war of the roses back in the days of yore too
Hello, yes I think you are along the right lines there, a few others mentioned the Tudor rose. Its amazing the things that this permission throws up, even after 18 months of metal detecting on this site. Thanks as always for tuning in, taking the time to watch and for supporting my channel. G
Hello, thanks so much for taking the time to watch this video. I do not have many days like this, hammered silver, milled silver and the most beautiful silver thimble. Thanks again and i hope to see you on my next episode. Gareth
Another cracking day for you as you said previously. The scenery still is outstanding and having a day like that made it memorable.Have you managed to try out my silver cleaning method yet?
Hi Dave, yes this place is magical, the views from the drone are breathtaking, they make the terrain look like astro turf. Its an amazing place to spend a Sunday morning fir sure. Yes I have indeed tried your method in a hot pan, I tried it on an old battered silver William III and it cleaned up like a dream. Thanks as always for tuning in. G
What I'm thinking with the 1964 penny and the casing for it is that it puts the imprint on the penny to make it but it got stuck in the printer so the factory chucked it and it landed there
Hello there Shaun, thanks so much for taking the time to watch this video, I love your theory there. But I'm quite sure there were no coin factories on this hillside in the 1960's :) Thanks again and I hope to see you again on one of my many other metal detecting videos. Gareth
Hello there Jillian, thanks as always for watching another of my videos. This was a really good day in the office for me :) Hope to see you again on my next episode. Gareth
Hi Tommy, thank you for taking the time to watch this video and for offering your thoughts. Would trench art kinda stuff still took place in 1964 and onwards?
Hi Robert, I still have no idea what that thing is, but it is really lovely. 1 guy commented and thought it could be a Saxon brooch, but I'm doubtful as I never ever find anything Saxon round my way. Does yours look the same?? Thanks as always for coming along and watching. G
If you're on about the "button" I was thinking it could be a furniture fitting from the back of a sofa or settee. Unless it's one half of Boudicca's chest protector😮😮😅😅
Hello, where are you from? I am always happy to try and help people and answer questions etc. Finding the time to take someone metal detecting and try to teach them though is another matter. I have very limited time each week to go metal detecting. I would suggest burying some coins at different depths in your garden, a tin can, a ring pull and other bits of metal. Then scan them with your metal detector and learn what sounds/tones to listen for. The first few months of the hobby are difficult and frustrating. You could knock on the door to a farm in your locality and politely ask them for permission to detect on their fields. I hope this helps
Hi buddy, thank you for watching another of my videos, I really appreciate your support for my channel. This really was an amazing day metal detecting. I hope to see you on my next metal detecting adventure. Gareth
You know what...I discovered them Max strong Walkers crisps last year... they're proper good and just the right amount of spicy too! I mean, I like my hot food, however, I also appreciate that they gotta sell them things too. I reckon we need to send a pack to Mr Johnny Scoville at the @ChaseTheHeat TH-cam channel maybe. Or, petition Walkers to do so instead?! 🤔
Hello again, haha yes these crisps are so nice! I absolutely LOVE spicy food. In fact last night I went for a curry with some of my work mates. Haha feel free to start a petition, I'll sign it for sure :) Gareth
Hi David, I always try to be neat with my hole digging and filling. Digging bigger and heavier plugs means there is less chance animals will pull them out. Respecting landowners and the countryside in general is something that is high on my agenda. Thanks as always for watching. Gareth
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire Here the plugs do not hold together as it is mostly sandy soil but what plug I do get is totally back where it belongs, and it is hard to tell I have been there.
Hi guys, I am yet to get a positive ID on that item, was hoping someone could ID it for me. I never find Roman or Saxon, so that is highly unlikely, but then I am no expert!! I thank you both for taking the time to watch. G
Hello, thank you for taking the time to watch this video and for asking me a question. YES, I will always always detect round a tree trunk and then spiral out in circles. Gareth
awesome finds Mr G, especially the Elizabeth I hammered. i dream for anything so pivotal in our country's history!
Hi Ian, thanks mate, I've been detecting this site hard for 18 months now and this was my best ever day here!! Just goes to show a great permission is never done. There has to be gold on here somewhere, I just know it!! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and for supporting my channel. G
Some great finds there Gareth. That was some size of a thimble. Silver special episode. Glad you enjoyed it buddy 😉
It really is a great place to go metal detecting and I'm sure you now know why I keep on heading up there, it really is becoming a special place for me
@TheDukesOfDerbyshire it was a stunning place mate, a cracking spot for an ale and packet of flamin hot wotsits 🤣
You have some lovely fields to detect on, the scenery is amazing, some lovely finds there
Hi Sandra, because of where I live I am surrounded by places like this. When I am looking for new permissions, one of the key attributes I look for is how scenic / beautiful it is, as I figure if I like a place, chances are so will other people and people through out the centuries :) Thanks so much for taking time out your day to watch, hope to see you again. G
What a fantastic triple silver 👍👏 congratulations
Hi Karl, thanks mate, it really was a crazy 30 minutes on a permission I've hammered over the last 18 months. Love this hobby, you just never know what you are going to uncover. Thanks as always for tuning in and taking the time to watch. G
Excellent well presented video as always mate topped off with some lovely silvers 👏👏keep up the great work 👍👍
Hi Rob, great to hear from you mate.
Absolutely fantastic video thanks, regards Kelvin 😮😊
Hi Kelvin, thank you very much for watching and for the kind words. I really enjoyed making this video, had some amazing finds on a permission I have hammered for almost 2 years!! I'll be back on here again next month with a friend and we'll be stopping the night in hammocks. Watch this space haha
great finds buddy awesome lovely views and love the thimble
Hi mate, thank you for the kind words as always and for tuning in and watching week after week. I am really struggling to upload content at the moment, I feel like I have no time for my channel any more :'( I will keep trying though!! G
hello a great day out again and a lovly thimble a great find and a hammy🔨 too well done all the best Anne 🌈
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire You will be very disappointed, I think. Looking forward to your next video
Another great video brilliant finds well done
Hi Peter, thank you very much for the kind words and for watching another of my videos. I look forward to seeing you on the next episode. G
Two silver coins and a thimble topped off with a few copper coins, another dream day detecting, another Fabulous episode ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I can't believe that giant thimble mate. Huge. The lizzie was a beauty. Loved the kiddie cuteness at the end. Great vid as per 😊
Gareth
Excellent getting such a mixed bag of goodies, in such a short time. Made for interesting watching.! Appreciated. Bless up bro 👊
The Deus2 is on fire right now 🔥🔥🔥
Wow what a day cracking finds well done bud ,top video 👍
Now then Shawn, cheers mate, amazing to think I been hitting this place hard for almost 2 years and I have a day like this. I'm tellin ya there's a gold ring on there somewhere!! Thanks as always for tuning in and supporting the channel.

Bobby 🌺 🎶

Wow you’re having the detecting gods smile on you lately mate 😮 Great finds 👍🏻
Oh and I went back in and learnt how to layer music and SFX onto that video of mine.

Hardest part of metal detecting is finding good land and getting permission. a found a roman one a those horse harness loops years ago along the Antonine fields cracking finds well done

Hi mate, thanks for watching this video. That huge silver thimble is one of my favourite ever finds as it is in the most perfect condition, not even slightly out of shape. Thanks again for watching, I hope to see you again on some of my 300 other metal detecting videos. Gareth
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire I am already in the hobby and I’ve got some amazing finds
Gareth
Jungle Jim, battling the brambles and swamps. No hat tossing :( Thanks for the video.
Hopefully find a silver Roman 🙏
Great video as always.
So excited 😊 🤗
Take care 🙂
@@danielt879 I've been on a couple of Roman roads, and found absolutely naff all 🤣 But Oxfordshire is much more historic than Derbyshire
@The Dukes Of Derbyshire I will definitely let you know if I find anything. A nice Roman broach would be nice.. or a ring 😀

You should have let Ash have a good find or two. See you next week too, Mila!
Think youre right about the Silver thimble 1700-1750?! 10k subs
Before summer?
The three most famous being the London mint rose on hammered coins, and the Yorkshire/Lancashire roses...there may well have been a Mercian Rose...not sure 🤔
There was a war of the roses back in the days of yore too
Hello, yes I think you are along the right lines there, a few others mentioned the Tudor rose. Its amazing the things that this permission throws up, even after 18 months of metal detecting on this site. Thanks as always for tuning in, taking the time to watch and for supporting my channel. G

Gareth

Hi there mate, ah thank you for your red heart :) This was such an epic day on the big green hillside, I cannot wait to get back on here!! G
The coin imprint in casing iron could possibly be a world war trench art lighter?
Hi Tommy, thank you for taking the time to watch this video and for offering your thoughts. Would trench art kinda stuff still took place in 1964 and onwards?
Ahh, I didn't pay attention to the date just the iron round the edges, the shape of it reminded me of my friends trench lighter he found. 😃👍

I’d love to come out with you searching. I’m brand new to detecting and could do with someone who knows about detecting to help teach me 😅
Hello, where are you from? I am always happy to try and help people and answer questions etc. Finding the time to take someone metal detecting and try to teach them though is another matter. I have very limited time each week to go metal detecting. I would suggest burying some coins at different depths in your garden, a tin can, a ring pull and other bits of metal. Then scan them with your metal detector and learn what sounds/tones to listen for. The first few months of the hobby are difficult and frustrating. You could knock on the door to a farm in your locality and politely ask them for permission to detect on their fields. I hope this helps
Ripper!

The plugs I dig here in Florida are never nice like that way too sandy here.

Do you ever go detecting specifically around trees? If I was to hide and bury gold coins that's where I'd hide them.

Hi mate, thanks for the very kind words. This permission just seems to get better and better the more I detect it, its normally the other way round haha. I've had 4 silver hammered off this place now which is crazy for my permissions!! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch. G
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire that's amazing. I love how an old permission can constantly gift with finds if your willing to put the effort and time in. Sometimes it's the little changes in settings, weather and perseverance that can be a total game changer. I'm from Bolton and to find a hammered on my permissions is a big deal. Not short of Georgian finds though hahaha. There'll be more in them sloping hills I'm sure. Good luck buddy🤞🏼👍🏻
@@Swing_away_uk_detectorist finding hammered silver is usually quite rare for me on the Derbyshire pasture. On a very good year I will find 3. I agree, weather and other conditions affect the ground and the signals etc
Hi mate! Great film again! 😃🙏
But what with Ash?🫨 He needs to trim that D2! 😝👌
Hi buddy, thank you for the kind words and as always thanks for dedicating 20 minutes of your life to watching this video :) Ash was way out of his comfort zone, this is my land, home territory, I know the land like the back of my hand, I will always destroy people that I bring here haha
