Hey Nugget Noggin. I am 16. I have been watching your videos for 9 years and metal detecting for 10 years. I've had a question for you for a while but never got the response. My family and i are going to the south *Tennessee, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and other states*. I was hoping for you to help me by telling me how you find all these old civil war sites where you're pulling out confederate buttons and muskets. Hoping to find my first civil war relic. Thanks, keep up the good work and God bless!

Before you go just hit google for sites by state or town. It’s all on the internet. Make a list of areas you want to detect. Make a list and check it twice just like Santa and you will be good. It’s hard for some to share an area that’s really hot but there are fields that are turned over every year and things pop out of the ground and if you’re lucky you may find something sitting on the surface. Just some FYI

I was lucky enough to start metal detecting with my uncle around 8y old. And that was around 30y ago, get a simple metal detector and just get into the field, check local aeras of where you can metal detect. Learning the machines and getting into the field is the most important, getting a better machine will come in time, best of luck!

It's surprising that he don't usually answer back when someone does ask him a question, it's people like you that make his TH-cam what it is, just hit some spots where your going to be, make sure you have permissions. Do some door knocking. I have found civil war in Illinois and Missouri in some of the most unexpected places. Do your research on where it is you will be going. Watch Finding america on TH-cam, ask him questions, he almost always answers back. Good luck

Mike I bought a shovel with a loop for a handle and it’s on the heavy side. My wife tried to claim it after she used I once. Was out the other day and another detector operator made the same remark of that shovel but within 10 minutes “ could i borrow your shovel for a minute?“ it was needed to cut roots his shovel couldn’t. Plus i sharpened the teeth and the tip. It’s heavy compared to other ones but it makes a statement when it cuts!!

I’m always amazed by the cool things you find. The 18th century brass handle @ approximately 8:59 were often used on door locks before door knobs became popular. Those really are some wonderful finds -including the broken bottle. Nice work, Michael !!

Nugget, you should check out Blennerhasset island in Parkersburg WV. There’s a museum there with all kinds of cool artifacts found on the island after various floods over the years. Lots of history there. Would be cool to see what you could find.

Is that a 1 or a 4 reale? I thought the 1's were more the size of a dime and 4's more like a quarter. I know the 8's are half dollar to dollar size.

The musket brass and trigger guard look like they are off a pistol...... the shape of the lock plate follows the curve of a early pistol lock. Rifle lock plates are straighter than the pistol locks....
