Idk all companies are headed in the Boeing direction (Boeing has been having a lot of near fatal manufacturing defects with their aircrafts as well)

The economy is slowing down fast. Russian and Chinese are stopping buying them, a huge loss. They will give them to influencers, but after the pandorogate with Chiara Ferragni they will have a hard life too, they will replace them with AI.
Hey Dacob, your video once again sheds light on the harsh reality of the luxury industry. Seeing how Moschino handles its products at TJ Maxx really makes one question the true value and quality standards of these brands. Luxury nowadays seems to have become more about marketing and brand labels rather than genuine craftsmanship and quality. This serves as a reminder to maintain strict standards for quality and to make accurate assessments of value while pursuing luxury. 👛🔍
I got rid of all my bags except one. I want to add one bag this year and maybe 2 next year. One LV, one Marc Jacob’s and one Tory Burch. I also plan on purchasing a new contemporary travel bag. That’s it. I sold 12 bags in 2022 all high Lux and 5 contemporary brands in 2023. I am kind of over it. I plan on spending my money on savings and travel for me and my son.
Wow. The moschino piece is fantastic. I read a great article this past weekend about these clearing houses that sell off excess merchandise and returns. Fascinating.
The whole idea of trying to get rid of luxury goods...I can't help thinking if they would just price things within budget and stop with all of these price increases, they would sell more items and not have to do this at all. Imagine pricing a bag at 10k. Maybe 10 people could afford that. Price the same bag at 5k, and let's say that that number jumps to 100, you've increased your profits from 100k to 500k. And in the case of so many luxury brands, that 10k bag WAS 5k in the past. These are businesses, not 'people', if you know what I mean. If the point of the business is to make a profit, why do they keep shooting themselves in the foot by pricing themselves out of consumer's price ranges? Exclusivity is great and all, until nobody is buying your bags because the prices are mental and all the people who can afford your new prices already have one.
@@majornija That's true. But I recall a video by Justine Leconte, who was talking about starting her own line of bags and she was saying that most factories have a certain amount of leather you need to be willing to buy from them before they will even consider selling to you. And when you go to an atelier to make the bags, you have to order a specific quantity before they'll work for you. Maybe if the luxury brands need to buy/produce a certain amount to keep their suppliers and producers working with them, they can't. Which makes charging so much for them even more silly. They must know they'll never be able to sell as many as they are producing.
I honestly have to wonder, if these CEOs are so smart, how could they not realize that people would eventually be priced out? Even Jamie Chua says she stopped buying Chanel because she can't justify the prices. You know it's serious when label obsessed billionaire adjecent clients are dropping you because it's becoming too expensive! Absolutely insane
I think you have to consider that China's economy is collapsing and it used to be one of the biggest luxury markets. There must a ton of products that were destinated to that market that they are unable to sell.

The consumer is buying Dollar Store quality for couture prices and hopefully people will wake up to this.
Yeah, it's not worth fifty bucks in itself. However, since you made a wonderfully educational video, well worth it. I often appreciate the design and beauty of luxury goods. But what drives me wild is the exorbitant mark up. Sure I understand selling an item for 4 to five times the cost of production, marketing, etc. But twenty times? Although I dearly love my luxe bags, I now am ashamed to wear them because of what they socially represent. I happily look at them because of their beauty. But I have no interest in adding more envy and jealousy in this already fraught world. ❤
Many many years ago when i started working in luxury fragrance, i was handed a hammer and told to smash unsold, out of date perfume and not just dump them intact.

LV remix denim collection is not selling out. It looks cheaply made. Dior had a lot of handbags sitting on a display table this was right after the stores opened back up from the pandemic. I told my friend Dior totes will appear at the outlets and they did. Not the popular colors and prints. Moschino I always purchased from discount stores.
Good. Hopefully we’ll see fewer collections per year again instead of this stupidly fast turnover. Can’t see prices falling though. How can they price things for ‘exclusivity’ in the market knowing the unsold stuff is finally heading to discount stores? Those people they’re trying to exclude will find it there anyway. Not that being monied equals style - usually the polar opposite!
I watched part of your video and you are correct. I believe luxury brands have out priced themselves. In the last one month I was able to purchase two YSL leather purses for 50% and 60% off at Neiman Marcus. I also snagged two pairs of Dior shoes, one at 75% off from Saks and the other one at about 60% off from Saks. I haven’t seen sales like that ever. I’m really hoping that the other brands that do not do sales (LV) will start.
Oh, my goodness! This at a low-level dollar store quality! And to charge several hundred dollars for such poorly constructed item???? We all know that quality has generally declined everywhere, but this is preposterous! Thank you for doing this video, Dacob - it is quite eye-opening.
Times have changed… it feels like its getting harder to find and buy things that feel to me like they are actually worth the money the brands charge for them.
Thank you Jori 🥹🙏🏻💖 and this is a great point in general in my opinion: the fact that we need to understand that we wear the clothes and accessories. They should not be wearing us. 💖
I got a Moschino bathrobe for Christmas from the boutique last year and there is nothing quality about that item. It is a very average bathrobe and then they added 200 USD for the cute bear. Moschino knows that there items are not made to last. The washing instructions of this bathrobe allow only for cold handwash and no tumble drying. I mean it is a freaking towel. What could go wrong washing and drying a quality towel with a machine? So far I have washed and dried it together with all my other towels and it has held up. But washing instructions tell you everything you need to know. If the washing instructions do not match the fabric composition, you know that the brand has zero confidence in their product.
The $50 is probably what it’s really worth especially since it was made in China. These fashion houses hype up the price just to make quick buck. That’s why I try not to buy some things for the full price.
I just saw the new Gucci prices for the iridescent bags reminiscent of the 80s and I just can’t pay $2900 to $3600 (something like that) BEFORE for some small bag I won’t wear that much
Dacob what are your thoughts with Louis Vuitton runway pieces still sitting on the website for months??!! Gone are the waitlist only Marc Jacob’s era. The KimJones ratchet era of sold out immediately (Supreme)
I tried on a nylon parka at LV yesterday. I loved it. I thought it would be something a little over $1000, but it was $3,600. Crazy pricing. What would I have paid for it? Around $120.
@@Cherrysmith2809 I hate the designers are playing with cheap fabrics, No way it’s worth 3600 that prices it should be , leather, fur, suede , cashmere for that price.
The reason that most of us buy luxury is for quality, so if the quality is not there, I'm not buying. If we all do the same, they will need to change their ways. I feel as if these companies have gotten greedy and are trying to make the most profit they could, at the cost of the quality and price. I would be so upset if I bought that Moschino piece full price. lol
That’s why I’m sticking to contemporary brands who have decent leather and quality. Other than that and vintage Balenciaga cities. I’m done with luxury.
I actually do think it is worth fifty bucks. It’s hilarious. I liked it at a thousand dollars… but would never have paid that. But fifty dollars is a solid price for a truly iconic example of fashion pop art. You saved it from a landfill, and gave it a new life. Moschino should have charged fifty for it from the get go. Then they would have sold out, like Chanel does with the fifty dollar purse mirror launches. It’s not a great example of fashion, it is designer swag. Like the Chanel mirrors, the Dior gift with purchase pouches, etc.
Dacob if this isn’t a lesson for Italy about having allowed Chinese factories to work (set up shop) in-Country for luxury brands, then I don’t know what is. Not PC: China would love to systematically erode the Italian luxury monopoly, as it will also erode a major economy in the EU and be generally hurtful. Sigh.
What saddens me in this situation and in general really is that China actually has the most beautiful, intricate and elevated art and design history dating thousands of years back and even before Europe developed its own heritage and yet the way China is perceived today is the opposite of its glorious past. Such a shame. I think China should slow down the money machine and go back to their roots and re discover their heritage and re learn their skills from thousands of years ago. Thats where their magic lays hidden in my opinion.
@@SuperDacob what you say is deeply true. I want to live in a world where nations return to their roots and traditions of art and craftsmanship... and leave all the wars and geopolitical nonsense in the past. Only through creativity, can one’s memory remain behind._ (I’m sure I got that a little wrong, but hope I captured the spirit of it.) When I started working at The Met museum many years ago, _Splendors of Imperial China_ was the special exhibition being planned. The objects were incomprehensibly beautiful!
Dacob! You ARE amazing
💖💖💖
They really said: 5-Minute Crafts
Haha, thats how it feels to me too. 😅
Now it makes sense.....my local TJ Maxx had so much Valentino this season.
Which one Valentino? Mario or Garavani?
The hairdryer bags are still sold at Verstiaire collective for 600$😢
OMG. Just goes to show, do your homework peeps.
Wow 😳
You Had Surgery On Your Fake Hairdryer 😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂 $50 Bucks and Surgery Too Noooo 😂. $4.99 maybe 🤔 Thank You This Was So Funny 🤣
For $50 bucks you can buy a real blow dyer lol
Oh, my goodness! This at a low-level dollar store quality! And to charge several hundred dollars for such poorly constructed item???? We all know that quality has generally declined everywhere, but this is preposterous! Thank you for doing this video, Dacob - it is quite eye-opening.
Times have changed… it feels like its getting harder to find and buy things that feel to me like they are actually worth the money the brands charge for them.
Hilar! The blow dryer - RuPaul’s drag race!
Great find
Thank you 🙏🏻💖
10:22 oh hell no but why am I not surprised it is plastic 🤷♀️
Across your personal body or shoulder, the bag regains worth. You wearing it will make it worthy of the original pricing.
I. Am. Speechless. At. This. Clutch.
It looks exactly like my kid themed Barbie hairdryer from the 90s.
Fenwick of bond street. selling £700 coats is closing down after 300 years. not enough rich people in the world!!
The hair dryer 👛 purse looks real like a real hair dryer wild
The $50 is probably what it’s really worth especially since it was made in China. These fashion houses hype up the price just to make quick buck. That’s why I try not to buy some things for the full price.
I just saw the new Gucci prices for the iridescent bags reminiscent of the 80s and I just can’t pay $2900 to $3600 (something like that) BEFORE for some small bag I won’t wear that much
First video and already subscribed!❤
I’m still shocked about it, but it is cute…. If I need to go and c if in my tj I will find it
I am shocked too haha
At least you can open it and fix it yourself. 😊😊😊😊
Thats thanks to the hot glue gun they used to assemble it in the first place. Haha.
been seeing lots of further reductions at malls and online this January 2024.. time to stk up 😂
Many sales. Been noticing it too…
With the food industry being very westful
Luxury brands overestimated inflation. Thus, luxury surplus.
It's so expensive for this 😳
Love this - and i think 29.99 would be a great price for a perfect one. LOL. luxury is dead -- makes me sad.
The reason that most of us buy luxury is for quality, so if the quality is not there, I'm not buying. If we all do the same, they will need to change their ways. I feel as if these companies have gotten greedy and are trying to make the most profit they could, at the cost of the quality and price. I would be so upset if I bought that Moschino piece full price. lol
38 is probably the units designated number of the quality contro of how many were glued.
That’s why I’m sticking to contemporary brands who have decent leather and quality. Other than that and vintage Balenciaga cities. I’m done with luxury.
It’s an illusion. It’s whatever you want it to be. Cheap or expensive 😊
Dacob! Thanks for lighting our minds ❤
🙏🏻🥰💖
I Goggle luxury sales for 2023 and it say USDA 1.3 trillion. Up 4%.
who is maghda margiela?
Who is Paolo?
I wanted this one
Its a vibe, despite the tragic quality.
Where would you wear that to?
To the clerb, a date in a fun restaurant, to a fun 80’s movie night out, gallery or museum opening, to a day out on the town with friends…
Yeah like a pop fashion novelty piece. I agree. I love this pop fashion bag but they definitely in my opinion overpriced it way too high.
They should give you a Nobel for clarifying the pronunciation of Moschino
🤣🤣💖💫
Shein would look prestigious by comparison.
How sad..
Quite sad. I agree.
As we say in the South, I wouldn't pick this up in the big road.
There’s a Chinese masterpiece with calligraphy that reads, _Among the reds and the blues, it is hard to put down the brush. Only through creativity, can one’s memory remain behind._ (I’m sure I got that a little wrong, but hope I captured the spirit of it.)
When I started working at The Met museum many years ago, _Splendors of Imperial China_ was the special exhibition being planned. The objects were incomprehensibly beautiful! I really fell in love with Chinese art at that time. Over the years, many many lunch breaks were spent in the Asian galleries. Such a feast for the eyes!
It’s heartbreaking what has happened to China… other cultures, too. Sorry for long comment!
😒
Moschino was laughing all the way to the bank.
No its not worth more than 20 bucks but thank you for fixing it
Hermes should onsell stock to saddleries… their goods are fit for purpose
That's like the cheap hot clue the art teacher would use in elementary school.. sheesh.
Hot glued plastic hair dryer toy like 👛 purse
