Well, Maze said in one of the earlier episodes that she feels/would feel left out. So she only has a limited number of friends and when two of them get together, Maze is afraid they will only be doing couples stuff and leave her out, or that they would not have as much time for her any more. Thus she would lose two friends at the same time. Plus, this would also alter the dynamics, closeness and feel of each friendship. She feels she would no longer be a part of the gang but on the outside looking in. One has to consider the timing relatively shortly after she had her "I have a family now and roots" epiphany. Learning that this newfound feeling of connection and security may be subject to some changes of course makes her panic. Since all of these feelings are still new, she has no method to process and cope yet. So she overreacts as usual. Just like Lucifer sometimes when he is faced with some new feelings.
They will explain things better as the show goes on. For your questions today they will be answered in one way or another. The celestials and maze are basically just middle children that didn't have a childhood or an upbringing. Chloe doesn't do well in any social setting where she doesn't have a set task. Lets not forget ger attempt at flirting woth Lucifer. Opened with an ass slap. She over corrects when it comes to that.
Regarding Maze, your analysis is done from a human point of view, and Maze is not human, she is a demon. Chloe must have been a horrible actress, there's no doubt about that, even though Lucifer considers her only film a masterpiece. Chloe rarely expresses her desires, and Lucifer was not going to pass up the opportunity to fulfill Chloe's desire (go to a prom). He was so sweet and so in love with her....which surely left Chloe even more confused about what he feels for her....
People sometimes do things that are completely out of character. Case in point, my Dad, a farmer, no nonsense, fire and brimstone Catholic. Ends up getting hooked on a soap opera. Started in the mid 90s and still watches it to this day. If you'd told me that would happen before it did, I'd think you were off your meds.
It might be a generation reaction, but you are one of the few female reactors I don's see going "Maze is right, your friend should never dare your ex". Thank you for taking a more rational stance.

So reliving it through the books is like reliving it through a character and not being able to separate yourself from the character 🤔🤔 not as far of a stretch as one might think. Subconsciously she's reliving the days that she wasn't involved in the high School drama like she wished she could have been 🤷♀️
Surely every story is based on the seven sins with genres and locations mixed in to add flavour, colour and taste. I like the stories where the location is a character and the events couldn't happen quite exactly the same anywhere else. Which doesn't narrow the field at all. Gaslight film is an example. Messed up. Star Wars is a pirate buccaneer story with lasers and Buffy The Vampire Series is top tier in many genres. Honey Jack Daniels and a wonderful Chinese Takeaway of Special Fried Rice, Special Curry, Spring (Pancake) Roll, and Prawn Toast. Or bread coated in sesame seeds as I couldn't tell otherwise. I never knew the Lucifer comic series was available on Kindle
Re endless writing ideas... "For now! For now!", an episode of 'The Sandman' sees Dream curse a writer in a similar way to one who wishes for immortality and gains it :-)
Misdirection is in the writer's quiver.... there are other ways than time travel in Lucifer's mind to undo the past.... And there is a reason they introduced Dr Linda and Amenadiel in a romance, but I can't tell you as it would be a massive spoiler. And really, Chloe can't have a time or two where she is the one who let's her personal involvement influence the case? I thought it was a great mirroring or swapping of Lucifer and Chloe's roles for a change - like he said, "I like it better when you are the responsible one and I am the fun one going off on tangents"..... And without Chloe getting caught up in the high school poppycock, Lucifer would not have realized she missed her own Prom and gave it to her in such a sweet gesture demonstrating he has feelings for her.....
This might be my least favorite episode. To me, this one screams "network interference!" The network was, so I've heard, desperately trying to make the show appeal more to men - the most lucrative audience. This seems to be why the characterizations were all wonky this season, and often made no sense. The network was demanding changes and inserting scripts with little concern for continuity or consistency. I think it's amazing the season ended up as good as it did, and managed to have a few of the show's best episodes! But _this_ is absolutely _not_ one of those best episodes! 🙄
I work in IT, so whenever I see a TV episode that has computer stuff, it usually makes me cringe and squint like that too. I can imagine as an author this episode has that same effect for you.
This is one of the worse episodes but is still a hundred percent better than the horribly written soap opera that the series degenerated to after Season 4.

I always assumed the chunks in the melted ice cream were mini marshmallows or something horrid like that.
