Why is Oliver purple? Poor character design. He was originally a comic character! It wasn't like they had animation complexity to consider. I imagine convienence for letting him blend in on Earth was a big factor. Good luck determining power scaling in this show. (Hint, it doesn't exist) This season is off to... a start. It'll be interesting what they decide to cover. They keep putting off a certain plot point I expected to end the last season on, so I am nervous they are going to drag some things out.

Mark's narrow view of 'justice' needs to get straightened out this season. If he doesn't want to kill, but won't allow room for rehabilitation or reparation, then the only option is the eternal imprisonment of all transgressors... which is untenable.

Teach's refusal to die turned the tables on Rogers. No one who survives that day will speak about how you shouldn't mess with Rogers; instead they will say what a badass Teach was. I do love the symbolism of the old king (Teach) dying as the new king (Silver) takes Nassau. Both men were "crowned" by Israel Hands slitting someone's throat in the streets.

Jack didn’t really have a plan for this one. Both him and Teech were over confident,and too focused on vengeance. They should never even have gone aboard that ship, should have just stayed, and blasted Rogers and the boat to pieces. But they wanted to kill him themselves and take the ship as well. They were stupid and proud and paid the price. In terms of Jack surrendering when things started going down, again, this would be the time to simply sink Rogers. But he cant, he simply cannot because Anne is onboard. So insted he surrenders not really having a plan but temporarily saving Anne (and Teeach). He did read Rogers's book, but this part of him is not in it, so Jack didn’t really know the extremes Rogers would go to. Jack simply couldn't see Anne die, so he stopped the fight, and that's as far as his mind went, I think. This is why you should not go to war with your love. It makes for bad emotional decisions 😅.

This is not a historically accurate depiction of Teach's end, but the broad strokes are there, as they were for Vane (same method, different locale). Teach was captured, shot and beheaded, though not by Rogers. The show does pay sort of a grisly homage to the history. There's an account of Teach's death that describes how, after the beheading, they "swam" his head around the ship three times. In the episode, Teach is keelhauled three times, then shot and beheaded.

There is no powerdynamics problem between Sam and Rebecca. He's a superstar while she's immensely rich. He's an asset she wants to keep, not an employee. And not all agedifference is automatically bad. Only when the older partner is toxic.

To be fair, Godzilla often had a healing factor. In one of the older Showa Era movies, he takes a... Missile in his chest from Mechagodzilla, which not only penetrates, but he coughs up smoke from it before seemingly dying. And he still comes back from that.

Two interesting thematic points in this episode: 1) the most brutal scene we've seen in this show so far was carried out by Rogers, the champion of England and civilization 2) continuing his twisted mirroring of Flint, Roger's brother, the man whose death turned him into a brutal killer who massacred nearly an entire Spanish ship out of vengeance, was also named Thomas. But because Rogers is a wealthy man from a good family he was able to sweep his crimes under the rug and simply keep that part out of the book.

Ah the story doesn't truly advance until Mr. Said-out-b*tch shows up. He's growth as a character is amazing as he goes from being a repeatable joke to one of the most influential character's in Lucifer's growth. And those who have seen the full series know what I'm referring to as it's not a joke. He reshapes Lucifer's view on what is possible..

The best part about it is how al and apparently everybody else never realizes how many slurs wu is throwing at them in frustration when they have difficulty understanding what he's saying. Probably a good thing seeing as he'd have probably got himself into a bad situation if anybody happened to understand a bit of cantonese

Mr said-out-b*tch is one of the best recurring characters in television. They repeatedly bring him back to make a joke. But its not the same joke over and over, which would end up getting stale. It changes every time to be fresh and new and hilarious. And while he starts out as a nothing character only for a joke, he gains depth and actually secretly has some of the most meaningful impact on the story. Great way to recur a character.

Season 5 is one of my favorite seasons. Though I forgot how bad Chloe was at being undercover... it tracks, though, given her history of rubbing her face with olives 😂

I had noticed this before on a previous re-watch, but in Zava's motivational speech in the weight room - he refers to the team as 'you' and 'this team' and not as 'us' or 'we'. I think on first watch - it can be missed because of his idiosyncrasies. But when watched again, you can see he has already checked out and him retiring makes sense.

I'm sometimes surprised by your reactions so I have no idea what you are going to think of this season overall but I'm delighted you liked this episode.

Well, did like i said, bought that videogame tie-in cocktail book, honestly a little underwhelmed. with only 15 recipes (at time of writing), only 9 of which contain alcohol. There's like 5 I would consider different that I've never heard of before (seemingly most of the virgin ones). You got all the standards, mojito, cosmopolitan, margarita, bloody mary, etc in here. But, for $4 on top of the $20 game, I can't say I really regret buying it. I just wish I knew what a "CL" is as a unit of measurement since most of the recipes use that. Ok, I've rambled enough, let me actually get a recipe down here. I start with one i've never heard of before. The "Green Garden" virgin mocktail. ½ cucumber, cut into slices 10 mint leaves Juice of 1 lime 1 tbsp sugar sparkling water ice cubes Recipe O Lightly muddle the cucumber slices and mint leaves in a shaker. O Add the lime juice and sugar and mix well until the sugar dissolves. O Top up with ice cubes and shake vigorously. O Strain into a tall glass and top up with sparkling water. O Garnish with a slice of cucumber and a sprig of mint.

To be honest Chloe got her moments, but she never was the over the top detective. The most cases she got solved was because of Lucifers devil talents. Without him she would do ok as detective, but not more and the undercover parts had never been easy for her.

Welcome to S5 A, this season was originally splitted in two parts, each with 8 episodes

I've had these same thoughts about Chloe since the beginning of the show, until the very end. She's never really intrigued me, even by the end of the show. I've watched this show for the character work because the cases, for me were never really up to par with some of the best procedurals I've seen, like Castle (for cases) or Grimm (for a successful pairing of interesting cases and the supernatural) and knowing the comics this character is taken from, the supernatural side and the story arcs were underwhelming for me. But the character work was always stellar. And even then, Chloe was never on my list of favorite characters. I don't know if it's the material, the actress or a combination of both or the other, it just never hit for me, not the way they intended.

This is one of my favorite episodes. I love that they brought back this one random dude, I love how it transitions from Earth to hell to explore the case, I love that they found a way for Lucifer to project his feelings and problems onto someone else once again until he realises it's all about himself, and I love how it ties into future episodes but I won't expand on that.

OMG ..this season is amazing! Looking forward to your reactions. And...who is that !? A doppleganger!? 😁 Btw Mr Said out Bitch appeared in every premier episode since Season 2
