    By the way, “The Car of the Year” in Denmark 2020 is the Tesla Model 3. The American electric car won on 27 November a reasonably safe victory in the annual Danish car competition. This marks the first time in the 52-year history of the competition that a decidedly American car wins and the first time it happens for a clean electric car.

    14:40 There is a guy in Iceland that crashed his Model S at 180 km/h into the back of a car doing 90 km/h. He tried to defend it saying that he sneezed.

    On ice (almost zero traction) in my RWD Model 3 you push the accelerator all the way to the floor and the wheels barely spin, they only turn with just as much torque as is available from the tires. It's amazing.

      Vita Cola my Performance Model 3 came with Michelin 20” but I put on Michelin 18” MXM4 (same that Tesla ships with on Model 3) for the summer/fall in NY. The car will spend the winter and spring in Florida, which is why I’m not buying snow tires. :)

What's funny, I thought about sending a note to uncle-Björn to test his model 3 in those exact conditions. It's not common that all the tires have totally different traction available and it will change around the next second, so it should be a very good test. Well, I forgot to send the note but you did it anyway, that's my man.

    For all those who wonder how it works the Traction control system is part of the ABS system. The TC/ESP/ABS control module gets its info from the wheel speed sensors. When the control unit senses that one or more wheels are spinning faster than the other ones the system is going to brake them to act like a diff lock because otherwise, the spinning wheels would get all the momentum and the wheels with traction would get nothing. By braking that wheel the momentum will be sent to the wheel with more traction. The TCS would also only allow a precise amount of acceleration if it gauges you're accelerating too much it's going to reduce the sent power so the car can regulate the traction by limiting wheel slipping.

    • @CliffordCom
      @CliffordCom 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your probably mean the brakes. Break would be damage. It makes sense to have a visual inspection together with the change of tyres if you swap seasonal. Tesla should have a certain maintanence plan for the change of brake fluid. Its common to change every 60k.

    Tesla's driving control of their cars is maturing. My Model S was never this good. Also, I prefer the real wheel drive bias of the Model 3, since it is easier to not snake around wildly with a rear wheel drive. Front wheel drive unnaturally pulls the car in weird angles which is really hard to drive, but rear wheel drive automatically prefers to be in the same road dips where other car wheels have been, and you hardly have to steer. All wheel drive can do even better. It looks like Tesla drive control of its motors and wheels has been improving a lot.

    Hi Bjorn! Thanks for all the great videos and information. I
    love the channel. Wonder if you can answer a couple of questions for me
    regarding EVs and wheel sizes. First, if we use the Kona as an example with 17”
    wheels, what effect would 18” or even 20” inch wheels have on the range? I
    assume bigger tyres equals more friction equals decreased range but how much
    less could one expect? Second, would larger tyres cause the odometer reading to
    be inaccurate? Would larger wheels measure more distance that actually
    travelled or less distance than actually travelled? Sorry, I know these question are unrelated to the topic of this video.

If you have an electronic tag for a bridge etc in your country, they might have a collaboration that gives you e.g. 10% off the price (EasyGo/Øresundsbro in Denmark does this). Don't expect the prices you pay to be anywhere close to the cheap price Bjørn is paying, though...
