    Glad to see a grown gravy version. Easier than building a roux and the flavor is still on point. People forget back in the days they threw whatever they had in gumbo. There’s no exact recipe because you use what you have! Great video.

    Great lesson on Gumbo. It looks delicious and serving in your gumbo bowls is the best presentation. Great food deserves a great presentation. 🥰

    Idc where you're from, cooking is subjective.... You're allowed to make changes to whatever you like, based on or around your personal taste and more than likely your health.... I can clearly see that she knows what she's doing, no doubt... This is a little healthier than the, "traditional gumbo," nonetheless it's hers!!! Those who felt the need to be rude and disrespectful in your comments should think of how your ancestors would turn, roll and rumble in their graves at your rudeness and disrespect... If you don't agree, simply move around!!! We gotta do better people.... It's different but I appreciate this twist and I'm always trying to find ways to eat healthier without omitting the thing Iove....

    My family is from New Orleans and are tossing in their Graves over this. I appreciate your effort but this is NOT Louisiana Gumbo!!

      Is it that I didn't make a roux with oil and flour? Or did some of my ingredients toss them? If you heard me say the ingredients I used to make this Gumbo. I most definitely can make a roux from scratch I just chose to show an alternative. Send me your family recipe and I'll do them proud! Thanks for your comment no harm done.

      You're right, and everybody say people make gumbo their way... GUMBO is something you don't change!! Gravy and turkey necks!!! No indeed, my grandma and auntie moving the tombstone off their graves as we speak 🙄

    How is this gumbo without the rhue

  • @wendel5520
    @wendel5520 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Since when is brown gravy mix a substitute for a roux?? And turkey neck do nothing for a gum boundless they are smoked before hand. This gumbo is a waste of those beautiful shrimp and crabs!!

    • @cookingwithpeggyjomann3999
      @cookingwithpeggyjomann3999  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The turkey necks are not the smoked one's. The brown gravy mix worked you should try it. Do you have a Gumbo recipe of your own if so send to me and I'll feature it in a video. If not thanks for your comments but trust me this Gumbo was not a waste at all.

    My family is from New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, I’m so happy you showed your family recipe. Ppl make it differently, you just cut down my time with the browning seasoning/process. You taught me something different, thank you. Condolences to your family regarding your big brother. I’m sure he was in your kitchen sneaking a taste 👅. Blessing to you beautiful. My family also migrated to Chicago from N.O. I visit N.O. Regularly, no place like it. My grandma taught me how to make gumbo, she was a hoot in the kitchen. She used a mixture of ingredients that she had left in her refrigerator or freezer that she didn’t want to go bad. She told that was the concept when ppl cooked it in her day. I miss her and you just reminded me of that a person can be gone but the presence they had in your life last forever. Happy New Year to you and your family.
