On a huge cabinet job my 840 just went out. I had a back up pump assembly that I received from Titan when I purchased and this video got me back up and running pithing 30 min. Thanks, it was a lifesaver!
Your videos are helping me out but I need some insight! Hoping you're still active and will see this! I have a Titan 840 about 3 years old in generally good working order. However recently an issue has developed where when set to pressurize the hose the pump will build and hold perfectly but when I pull the trigger I lose about 10-15% of my set pressure, though the pump will maintain at that slightly lower rate. Side note on this point when I remove the gun tip whole flushing the hose the control panel will say "Prime" until I release thw trigger long enough for pressure to build again. Additionally when the pump is switched to prime it will pickup and flow out well enough but some flow will go to the pressure line and the gun is able to spray a consisten volume (maybe .25-.4gpm) while the pump is priming. Ive checked the packings and piston and theyre in fantastic shape, i replaced the prime valve and found no deposits there either, i replaced the lower intake ball and seat (upper was in like new shape so i reversed the seat encase there was an issue there) I've run a solution through everything, I can find no major deposits of material causing blockages. The pump will still "work" in it's current state but its not quite how it should be. Pressure dropping (even consistently) makes me either need to have the initial set higher or slow down and wait for it to catch up (which it will also consistently do) The service centers are all closed for the weekend and I'm trying to get a job wrapped up early next week. Hopefully you see this and I've provided enough info. Thanks a million for your time and effort, even just the videos I've seen have already helped a ton!
What an excellent video, thank you very much Should you take any of these parts apart, just to clean it out once or twice a year? I just cleaned out some of the fittings that went to the filter manifold, and they had a lot of layers of elastomeric paint on them. Maybe half of their diameter clogged. And I know the guns get a ton of particulate stuck in them (both in the handle filter, and in the nozzle area) I'm wondering if the pump area also collects paint, and it's worth trying to clean it And I think another video said maybe it's a good idea to grease some areas of the piston But maybe it's likely that you'll damage the seals, and it's better to leave it alone until it fails
@@honeyforce996 I do not recommend taking the pump apart for cleaning. Once apart, new packings should be installed. No matter the wear on them. Would be like taking a piston out of an engine and putting the piston back in with the rings. No recommended. To do a thorough internal cleaning, pump the machine full of lacquer thinner and allow the system to stay full for a couple days then pump it out. Lacquer thinner is highly flammable. Do this outside with no flames
Very nice video. Thanks so much for taking the time to educate us. I was wondering, my 440 turns off after several seconds and the reset button on the machine pops. I think I might have an electrical or motor problems? Please advice!
If the machine does not prime, it could be a piece of trash stuck in the upper or lower ball. If the upper and lower ball are clear, do a repack. Check your piston for damage before installing it
That could be a few things. Turn it off and what for a blank screen. When it goes dark turn it on. If it works, then no problem. If there is a power interruption this code will display. If you do what I explained and it works, then no problem. If this is not the case, let me know
I need to buy one of this I am in doubt on which one to buy or a new 440 or 540. has a person who wants to sell a new, modern 840 seme with digital board. would be a good deal? the 840 with digital board is a good machine?
There is not a lot of difference in the 540 and the 440. You will see nothing that makes one better than the other. The 840 will out perform both the 540 and the 440. The 840 can deliver more paint per stroke so that the machine does not have to work as hard or as fast. The 540 and the 440 use most of the same parts. Biggest difference is the motor on the 540 is slightly more powerful. I personally would not pay the difference in the 440 to the 540.
Do you also service Graco's? I'm curious how you'd compare their build qualities and which you'd prefer owning? I have a Graco PC Pro 490 and love it, but am leaning towards buying a Titan also, possibly one of their larger units, like the 640, 740 or 840, depending on which I can get the best deal on. Great videos!
I service all makes of sprayers from most all manufacturers. Each has their own qualities and deficiencies. There is no "one" choice. The comparisons are easily made with specs from each. The warranty and productivity of each is almost identical.

I am glad to help

I would check the brushes first. Pull them and make sure they are not worn too low. They should be a 1/4" or longer
@@Brian_the_repair_guy Thank You Sir! I will check them right away. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for your video and your tips.
Hi Sir.
I got the same 840 Titan
That process its the same if the sprayer don't prime?

Shawn McCarty you are welcome
Great job Bryan !! And do you have any video for repacking kit 287813 graco going on gh230
I do not at this point. I will try and get one to repack for you. Keep watching. Thank you
Alfredo. I just posted a video of a repack from a GMaxII7900. It is basically the exact same process. Take a look.
@@Brian_the_repair_guy thanks for the video help a lot , for my next re-pack buddy

Hey Brian, how's it going,
I have a cuestion, do you know whats the problem in a titan 1140 when the code on the screen is low voltage?

@@Brian_the_repair_guy i ll let you know Brian thanks
Hi brian, can i use a current oil for the piston or do i need to buy the special from lubricate from graco
Thanks at fwd
The oil used for the piston is to prevent over spray from adhering to the piston. Any oil is better than no oil.
