Pressure washer too hot
Allowing your pressure washer to run without pulling the trigger every few minutes will over heat the pump. The recycling water gets hotter with the constant friction. This is reduced with a n external bypass or a tank. On Banjo style unloaders it is important to allow the hot water out frequently.

Great video! My problem is that I have great pressure when I first start using my washer, but within a minute or less the pressure starts slowly dropping down to basically just the pressure it was before cranking the motor (virtually none). Any suggestions? What’s really confusing me is the fact that it starts with great pressure.

I have this exact AAA pump. It's only been used about 4 to 6 times. Last use was 6 months ago. I hooked up my water hose and the wand. No water is coming out of the outlet, even with the pressure hose disconnected. No leaks anywhere. What should I look at within this pump? I removed the valve assembly and noticed the hydraulic pump is working perfectly. I sprayed a lot of silicone, wd40 and white lithium grease inside the pump and left it for hours, still no water comes out. I checked the filter screen, it's clean, I have removed every part 1 piece at a time and lubricated each component, then went on to the next. I did not see any corrosion inside and all o-rings and seals are like brand new. I removed the unloader valve and made sure it was springy on the end touching the ball bearing. Again, there is no corrosion and all o-rings look and feel like new. I'm totally stumped. What do you recommend I do next?
@@x.x..x.x make sure each valve will open and close. Next remove the high pressure connection on the unloader where the pressure hose connects. Then remove the fitting between the fitting between the quclick connect and the unloader. There is a spring and a valve that looks like a bullet. My guess the small holes are clogged
@Brian_the_repair_guy Thanks for your thoughtful and prompt reply. You sent me thr right direction. It's fixed and running properly now. Thanks again!

I just built a pressrue washer with a Honda GX390 I rebuilt, and a Cat 66DX40G1 pump I rebuilt. Went through the entire pump, replaced check valves, valves, seals, unloader, thermal valve and pop-off valve, ez-start was rebuilt, brass was all de-tarnished and polished, fluids changed, etc.. new frame, hoses, lance, etc.. entirely new, or like-new. Will i adjust unloader and will it take me close to 3000 psi. just to let you now current engine and aaa pump support 3600 psi.. much apprecaite your help.
@@sivucit the engine does play a big role in how much pressure the pump will provide, it is not the only factor. The engine can allow for increased pressure compared to the units factory settings. That is not to say you can always increase the pressure. With that said, I do not think the CAT pump will be able to reach beyond 2500 psi safely. CAT pumps are good, but pricey and parts are harder to locate and more expensive. Your videos are helping me out but I need some insight! Hoping you're still active and will see this! I have a Titan 840 about 3 years old in generally good working order. However recently an issue has developed where when set to pressurize the hose the pump will build and hold perfectly but when I pull the trigger I lose about 10-15% of my set pressure, though the pump will maintain at that slightly lower rate. Side note on this point when I remove the gun tip whole flushing the hose the control panel will say "Prime" until I release thw trigger long enough for pressure to build again. Additionally when the pump is switched to prime it will pickup and flow out well enough but some flow will go to the pressure line and the gun is able to spray a consisten volume (maybe .25-.4gpm) while the pump is priming. Ive checked the packings and piston and theyre in fantastic shape, i replaced the prime valve and found no deposits there either, i replaced the lower intake ball and seat (upper was in like new shape so i reversed the seat encase there was an issue there) I've run a solution through everything, I can find no major deposits of material causing blockages. The pump will still "work" in it's current state but its not quite how it should be. Pressure dropping (even consistently) makes me either need to have the initial set higher or slow down and wait for it to catch up (which it will also consistently do) The service centers are all closed for the weekend and I'm trying to get a job wrapped up early next week. Hopefully you see this and I've provided enough info. Thanks a million for your time and effort, even just the videos I've seen have already helped a ton!

Brian, another great video with extensive step by step details on how to take apart a pump. I have an AR XMV 4G32 and last time that I used the pump I notice the site glass was milky I took the pump apart and found one of the ceramic pistons was broken so I order some seals and a piston to replace. I found that the rear piston guide was very tight I even try the channel lucks pliers like in this video they didn’t move a bit, in that process I end up nicking the top ring. looking at some other videos I saw that they were using reverse pliers to remove the rear piston guides, so I bought some revers pliers after a few tries finally came out and end up nicking the inside ring. I grind the pliers down to the radius of the inside ring to minimizes nicking the brass ring by doing this after an hour I was able to remove the second guide. I been working on the last guide for hours and wont move at all and I don’t want to damage like I did the first one. Any other suggestions on how to take it out
