  • Hellooooo! Title says it all - I used Paula's Choice SKIN PERFECTING 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant for 30 days to try and sort out some acne that's been popping up on ma face and my existing acne scars. I definitely noticed an improvement in my overall skin quality (peep that glow (or maybe it's just oiliness) and baby soft skin) but I did continue to experience the most acne/breakouts I've had in a good while (not sure if it was related to this product or from face mask wearing). Any who, I hope this helps someone out there who was thinking of giving this a go!

    Just know you should never use it everyday if you have sensitive skin. It can dry up your skin badly if you do. It’s recommended every other day or 1-2 times a week.

    seeing how much your skin had transformed has given me so much hope! i recently went to a dermatologist and when i took of my mask he made a noise and cringed at my acne. he automatically jumped to accutane (refuse to go on it bc family members have had horrible experiences) and i was really discouraged and his cringe has stuck with me. your skin looks so good!

      edit: it makes your skin texture SO smooth and better, effective against white comedons and small bumpy areas.
      BUT it makes your cystic break out WAY more if you do not properly moisturize.
      It's a balance and different for everyone:
      for some 2-3/ week is the limit
      for other 1/day
      for others, twice .

    • @yulian7435

      edit 2: it wasnt bha that made cystic acne, but another product i was using lmao (yeah what a story).
      Now using only bha twice per day and not needing moisturizer cause my skin doesn't need anything heavier than lightweight serum in summer.
      If and only if i have a bad day and for some reasons i have a skin drier than usual, (lets say i go to the pool, then beach, and showered 3 times that day), then I'll use a moisturizing serum but it's really exceptional

      @jenniefurby6927 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Yes niacinamide can too. That's why you have to keep using the products for 2-3 months to see results. People generally get worried and think the products aren't working when they start to break out, but it's just your skin purging out all the bad stuff. If you break out in the places you would normally break out, it's purging. I've been doing my routine since October and my skin is so much better. It's smoother, tone is more even, pores look reduced and not as oily. My cystic acne around "girl time" has definitely reduced and I've had quite a few comments recently about my skin glowing. My advice is to stick with it, appreciate everyone's skin is different and you will see results

    • @enidedej
      @enidedej 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@solealucchini4890 girls niacinamide isn't an active, it's not supposed to cause purging. Purging is term that's being used too much nowadays when in reality it happens very rarely (even woth retinoid). Actives CAN cause purging, but it isn't supposed to always do so. That being said, if a product with no actives is giving you breakouts, it's just that, a breakout, not purging, so the products isn't working for you. I suggest you find a a product with a different formulation that contains niacinamide. I also want to add that 2-3 months is a lot of time to see if a product ia working for you- if it doesn't have actives in it (aha, bha, vitamin C or retinoids), you can tell within a few days, if it has actives wait 2-6 weeks.

      You would want to do this after cleansing and toning, if you tone. I wouldn’t use a retinol at the same time so make sure you alternate. And if you use this in the morning wear sunscreen. Also I’m pretty sure you shouldn’t use niacinamide at the same time so again, make sure you alternate.

    • @enidedej
      @enidedej 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You should be using aha and bha on clean dry skin, so wash the face, pat dry and after 2-3 min apply the exfoliator, wait 15 minutes for the acid to be completely absorbed by the skin (because the other products can mess with the ph and make it useless or too much to bear), and then layer other products like a serum, moisturizer and the occlusive (like oil) if you use one. You can mix niacinamide with basically anything, it just helps with the results. What you CAN'T mix together is actives, like aha, bha, vitamin C and retinoids. It is ideal to use exfoliators in the pm routine because some of them make the skin photosensitive, so you'll get more damage from the sun, resulting in the product causing damage instead of good . So to wrap it up: use the PC bha 2-3 times a week, at night, and on those nights don't use any other active. Don't forget to wear sunscreen regularly.

      Pores are normal and their size is genetic, so you can't shrink them, but they tend to appear smaller when you use products like the PC bha liquid because it constantly cleans the sebum and the pollution from the environment trapped in there. It takes an average if about 2 months to really see results.
