Thought I'd share my updated skincare routine while I'm on roaccutane! I'm currently on month 4 (20 mg/day), so my skin is pretty dry & sensitive. So I'm swapping in this gentler routine and saying goodbye to the retinols, AHAs/BHAs and microneedling for the time being. Roaccutane Daily Skin Diary | Taking Accutane For A SECOND Time | Month 1

I have decided to film my skin (almost) every day whilst on Roaccutane (AKA Accutane AKA Isotretinoin). I'm sure many of you know about my skin history since I've documented a lot of it on this TH-cam channel already! I've been on Roaccutane before - back in 2019 I took a 6 month course (20 mg - 60 mg) for severe acne. After coming off the birth control pill a few months ago, my skin started br...

    I researched that 1mm or even 1.5 mm is the depth you need for healing scar tissue. They sell adjustable derma stamps. The professionals of course will say its only safe if you pay them a bunch of money to do it for you but they are only going to do they same thing as you at home. The only difference would be numbing cream and new needles every treatment. It would be much cheaper to buy a new stamp every round than to pay the pros and get the same results

    You can do 1mm needling on your cheeks at home every 4-6 weeks. The 0.5mm you are currently doing on your forehead is deep enough for that area every 4-6 weeks, Any deeper than 1mm on the face should be done by a professional.

    Hey girl aesthetician here. You wanna approach retinol reallyyy slowly. Start with the lowest percentage and use it only once a week then move up to twice a week then 3 times a week. 3 times a week should be the max never use retinol more than 3 times a week. stay on that percentage for about two months then go higher. Keep increasing percentage that way. I would advise the highest you should go would be 1% but of course you can experiment beyond that. Just be careful because as much as retinol is amazing for your skin It can be really damaging if misused. Goodluck! :)

      @@siiyuo1122 yes! Whenever you want to do a chemical peel, just take a week break from retinol then a few days after the peel you can continue. Thats If it’s a light peel. You bought the highest concentration so im not surprised your skin was unhappy after using it daily. As far as i remember the lowest concentration in squalane was 0.2%, I'm currently using 5%. Maybe when repurchasing get a lower concentration if you notice its too strong for you :)

      Thank you, definitely the right advice to share! However, I’d already been a retinol user before trying this so 1% was perfect for someone like me. Also, I only used 1-2 times per week not every day 😃 I’d love to hear how you’re finding the 5% strength

    • @chaeguevara
      @chaeguevara 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No matter how long you’ve been using retinol, 5% is diabolical! You may think it’s fine because your skin is not reacting to it but the long-term effects aren’t good. I doubt whatever retinol you’re using actually has 5% in there. It might just be on the label but I highly doubt that’s the actual percentage in the product. Can’t imagine anyone using 5% retinol with no reactions. I’m an aesthetician.

    • @BriannaJane
      @BriannaJane 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! I've found a great dermatologist this time who supported my decision not to go back on hormonal birth control (so that we can tell once my acne has cleared due to accutane, instead of the effects of hormonal BC). It's still a requirement for doctors to ensure their patients are preventing pregnancy while taking accutane, which is why most derms ask their patients to be on at least one form of hormonal BC. But I'm happy to have found a doctor that listens, and she was happy for me to take a more non-conventional, non-hormonal route!

      It will, definitely. I feel you. I am currently on my 8th month. Started with 20 mg as well, now I’m on 40. My skin was at it’s worse at 2 weeks. Then it only got better and better. It’s important to take them with food containing a proper amount of fat. No salicylic acid cleanser or other products containing harsh ingredients, please don’t repeat my mistake. A healthy skin barrier is crucial. Use the gentlest cleanser at night (in the morning I just wash my face just with room temperature water. It definitely made a difference for my skin’s health). And a mineral sunscreen for intolerant skin, since chemical sunscreens are too harsh. My skin was turning all red and burning after I was applying a chemical one. Be patient and treat your skin with compassion and care ❤️

      Important point: do not use oil cleanser (aka hydrophilic oil) to remove your makeup. It will damage your skin’s barrier. Use micellar water instead (I find the one from Bioderma Sensibio H2O really friendly to my skin), followed by a gentle cleanser (La Roche Posay H Iso-Biome is well tolerated with isotretinoin), and a moisturizer (the one from the same series La Roche Posay H Iso-Biome is great)

    dealing with persistent acne is tough. this video resonated with my struggles after stopping birth control, facing a return of acne. like the content creator, I sought help, considering Accutane. it brings back memories of my own journey with Aspect Health, addressing hormonal imbalances. not an ad, just sharing my story. if you're navigating acne and hormonal concerns, seeking professional advice is crucial. wishing the content creator a positive journey ahead.

    Hi, how often do you use it in a week?

    • @BriannaJane
      @BriannaJane 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was using it once every 1-2 weeks! Sometimes only once a month depending on how my skin was doing

      I have mix of ice pick, round, box like scars on my face. I purchased dermastamp for microneedling. What should be used: 1. before stamping to clean dermaroller/dermastamp and face? 2. same day on face after stamping/microneedling session? 3. next day onwards after the stamping/microneedling session? 4. Can we use Retinol/Tretinoin, Vit c, Hyaluronic acid, Glycolic acid, icing, collagen supplement etc. next day onwards after dermarolling/microneedling? Please recommend generic products instead of something that I can get only with a certain brand. You can suggest the brand along with the generic product. Thanks in advance (: @@katlene6536

    If you get off all those meds (under medical guidence, of course), and cut your daily carbohydrate intake below 20g, your acne issues will resolve in two to three months. You're getting skin issues and PCOS symptoms because your blood sugar is high all the time (a.k.a. chronic hyperglycemia). It's the high blood sugars that cause the insulin resistance and hormone imbalances that result in acne and other PCOS symptoms. Keeping your carbs below 20g per day allows your blood sugar levels to drop down to normal levels and prevents blood sugar spikes. Trying to treat PCOS (acne, etc) with meds is like playing the moving target game at the county fair - you can do it, but good luck dialing in all the moving parts. Trying to treating PCOS by controlling blood sugar levels via diet is like shooting at a stationary target in your backyard. Happy to explain more, answer questions, or address concerns. Happy to help make a custom meal plan with you if you are interested. Peace and love. ❤

      This is very insightful and I do agree that diet plays a big role. But I have tried all sorts of anti-acne diets in the past to no effect. For me at least, diet plays a minimal role in regulating my hormones and therefore symptoms (I.e., acne). But thank you for your advice! :)

      @@BriannaJane Did you try this specific diet? Might be worth your time to try it. 60 days isn't that big of a commitment compared to possibly actually reverse the acne, yeah? If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Just be ready to go through sugar withdrawals during the first week or so. It's like suddenly cutting out caffeine or nicotine - expect headaches, low energy, intense cravings, etc for a week or so. After that, you should notice rapid improvement to many of your symptoms.

      It might be that it just loses efficacy over time, but as long as the formula doesn’t seem expired or contaminated and you’re not having a reaction I think it should be fine!
