If only this was shown to every new player as they start their climb up the ranks. Can you imagine how good it would be?? Random matches would be like tournament games!!! Let's hope this new roadmap with tutorial does as good a job as you have here. I'm level 157, level 10 on squad lead, engineer and suppprt, level 8 on rifleman, anti tank and assault level 7 on tank commander, crew and level 6 or 5 on everything else (i dont play sniper tho) and I just learned something new from this video!!!! 😶 I didn't realise the capture in the two game modes changes!!! No-one ever said lol There's me telling players to build around the black circl and NOT inside it but I always assumed the distance had to be the whole 4 squares not more close in one of these modes. Still I'm glad I was correct to keep garrisons outside that circle. I have been guilty of a constant reaction of a squad spawn inside that circle as the position is being overun tho to try to get my whole squad to occupy the circle for double the manpower score. Thus, it has worked to save a capture but now I might reconsider this in warfare mode.🤔 Thanks for this and all the other videos!!
Thank you Monospatial for your ‘How-to’! I watched everyone of your videos on YT before I started playing on Xbox two years ago. I am now a 376 rank, and thank you again for helping me & my friends learn HLL. Outside some questions about your statements, specifically numerical statements i.e. blue garrison locked at 50 meters? I would like to talk, via email to explain some more shortcuts that my friends & I have figured out to help your team win?
I love how you basically said that if somebody doesn't have the patience for a 30-minute video they're not going to have the patience for this game because that is probably the most accurate thing ever
@@Fr3delyoure struggling if youre not working with a team. Id be happy to play with you a bit ive figured some of it out. Ill tell you my name if you resoond and want to play.
Medic is a good class to start with. Got me used to the game and I felt like I was accomplishing a lot, plus people were so happy to have me save them!
Agreed. I learned a lot from just talking to my squad while contributing basic support and listening to what they had to say. Nine times out of ten when they see the medic coming for them everyone immediately falls into RP mode and it’s just a lot of fun.
im new af and it helped me branch out to other classes and gave me more confidence in communicating with the whole team shit can get so intense i loved it lmao you just have to not mind getting killed alot....a lotttt
For all the new people coming in. Dont get hung up on all the information. Its still a game. You will learn as you play. Im a level 140 and never watched any of these videos and learned all this on my own. Just play what class you want, use a mic, and you'll be ok.
@@61r89w2 usually not on community servers (if people cant behave in comms, they get banned pretty fast to what I witnessed). But the most important part is, communicate. If you don't want to talk with strangers and play together, don't bother playing. You won't have the experience the game is offering and simultaneously ruin the experience for your team/squad mates. Then its just not your game.
@@Tgunnz70 i can assure you nobody will bat an eye (at least i never witnessed someone that blamed another one for not seeing an enemy). Even contrary to this, a good squad will share enemy positioning info.
@@avalonjustin it's kinda intimidating when everyone around you just seems to always know where the enemy is and what's going on, and you're just stuck there lost trying to figure out where they shot from I had a game where there was an enemy FOB right next to a friendly spawn and I kept respawning there tryijng to shoot them but kept dying, and I hoped atleast my squadmates would realize and destroy it because I was too shy to tell them in VC they didn't realize until after like 10 minutes and after I had died like 10 times over to the same enemies spawining at that FOB
In my experience, medics are necessary or at least very helpful. Yes it's true that waiting for a revive takes longer than just respawning. Yes it is also true that waiting for a revive takes a lot less time than respawning then running 1000 meters back because nobody has set up a spawn point which has been my experience in most of the games I've played so far.
I feel like the comment he made wasn’t actually reflective to the reality of most casual games, he’s thinking of very big groups that all play together
Even with 700+ hours into the game, still learning new things! I had no idea the satchel reticle disappears if you're outside the blast zone! Thanks for the video!
Honestly it's so hard making these videos because there are SOOOO many things to mention that the video should be an hour and a half long to cover everything, and that's not even going over commanding or tanking. I guess it's why I have 70 videos out on it already, but yeah, it's hard to select what information to go into a "beginners guide" because it always feels like I'm leaving lots of crucial information out.
700 hours is the equivalent of like 21 full matches. I’m exaggerating obviously but it makes me giggle thinking that the equivalent of “I played the f**k out of that game” in most other games is when you start to transition from advanced beginner to competent in HLL lol
Agreed. I was thinking the same thing. This video and gebatron gaming (His emphasis on behaviour is brilliant) mixed together !! Wow that would solve EVERYTHING.
I see medics as super helpful especially when the nearby spawn points are destroyed as ive seen where an entire squad is taken down then the medic comes by revies all of them saving critical time if they had to walk back from a far out location. It's more a strategy, if you have only a couple of medics for the entire side then it will make no difference but if each squad has a medic, believe me they will be nearly impossible to overtake.
I think ive only been revived by medics 2 or 3 times total in this game, even if there's one within 30m of me. I usually end up wasting time laying on the floor, like he said
@@ConfidentMelon Well before all these videos starting popping up saying medics are useless i used to see lots of medics doing as much as possible to get to downed players but seems a few youtubers probably got frustrated they weren't revived immediately, created these videos influenced mindset and now nobody plays that class.
@ConfidentMelon I've been playing for a few weeks and, while there are not many competent medics, some of them completely turn the tide of the game. It's when medics just use their class for extra bandages and a rifle that it becomes pointless
17:04 MG can be essential for attacking- surpressive fire can totally deny enemies from peeking and hitting your teammates, along with providing a safe angle of attack as you will shoot anyone that tries to peek anyways. The difference between having fire superiority and not is winning or losing, and 2 MG's opening up at the same time can flatten a defense for a long time
Mgs can go absolutelt crazy. I tried one on my second game and got a good flank in a tree line and smacked 20 people before they eventually air striked me. Came back and got 25 ish more before I died again. Hell of a game.
This game just came out on xbox game pass so this guide is very much helpful so thank you! As a regular enlisted player I love anything WW2 related so I'm so excited to play this
I bought this game a few hours ago because I WANTED a decent WW2 game that ISN'T like COD or Battlefield. I don't like the rushing about, shooting anything that moves. I want it to feel like a real war in which tactics, strategy and great teamwork will win the battle.
As someone who was thinking about buying the game, this guide is amazing. I definitely will be buying it, and ill know enough to not be a hindrance to the team. Thanks for making the guide simple
you had mentioned once that you are from South America and just wanted to give you a shoutout that as a non-native English speaker you are more articulate and well spoken than many of the native English speakers I know.
holy fuck i had no idea it was this difficult... i want to play this game so bad, but I also dont want to let my team down- fuckin anxiety while gaming now... great
Don't start with medic unless you learned what you are even looking at bro. Play Skirmish and do rifleman or something. You will get it. Use mics. Don't be shy. You on the internet so. We all nerds. But yea. Start with rifleman type basic combat pawns. 😅 I enjoy Officer and I am still new. They lead by placing nodes for spawn points. Most people actually don't like playing Officer because the smg is shit for long range but bruh. You create spawn points. Literally a very big part in winning and you really don't need to tell people what to do unless they really that clueless. 😅
@momsspaghetti4064 once you get officer to level 6 you get gewehr for Germans, M1 grand for yanks and other rifles like the SVT for Russians just check the pictures on the right when you pick loadout
Just started playing this game this weekend, I didn't realise it had so much depth until I played it. I also heard the trope from friends that it's just a game where you run and die repeatedly, but now having played it myself that is obviously such a superficial and ignorant take. I'm loving the passion for teamwork and coordination, so far people have been very helpful to me over VoIP. I've jumped onto Support, Recon and Armor positions and been promptly yelled at for not doing my job, but once I told people I'm new they were quite happy to chill out and teach me. It's really satisfying to be thanked for carrying out an order or providing important intel (it almost makes me think that the only way to rank up should be via people commending you, like, you know, how it works in real life) In my limited experience, however, I do think you glossed over the Recon squad. It was very unintuitive to me that Recon is supposed to literally venture deep into enemy territory. While yes I was asked once to harass their artillery, I was taught to gather intel on enemy vehicles and infantry, take out garrisons, build garrisons from supply drops in enemy territory, take out resource nodes, and work with my sniper. I find it to be a very interesting role despite rarely engaging in combat. I suspect it is a better introduction to being an officer vs having the responsibility over a 6-man squad with the stress of fighting on the frontline.
I just found it on Gamepass on day bored af and tried it. Played. Kinda liked it. Quit. Some months later just recently installed it again 2 nights ago and now I absolutely love this game so much. Once I learned it. It quickly became one of my goated shooters. I enjoy being an Officer. Being good at placing nodes and keeping up with nodes is champion status. Players absolutely love Officers keeping up with spawn points. It just feels good to be one of those important players ya know. 😅
I am new to the game, but I want to properly play it! How do I get people who actually play the game properly so I can use the tips I am getting from those videos?
Heavily looking into getting this game and taking it seriously, I have been watching a few videos of yours and they are very helpful. I'm excited to watch this one! Thank you for putting these videos out
Would definitely recommend, esp on pc, as long as you use comms and move carefully, you can get a huge amount of fun out of this game, esp tanks like the panther imo
So in my second game ever I just happened to have you as a squad leader (I was krunkin), and you recommended me your video. I had a blast playing with you, and the video was extremely helpful. Hope to see you in game again soon.
Thank you for being one of the reasons I got interested in HLL on console, and for the pointers that helped me be a good SL and Commander. Always enjoy the videos
I’m absolutely ready to sit through as many hours as I need to get a grasp on this game. Haven’t even gamed in 3 years but this shit is so fun idc how many times I die
I think its good that you do it every year again. People looking for current videos and if it helps to bring morge people to this game, its a win win situation for you as a content creator and for the developers/publisher/for the game.
Thanks for this, I gave this game a go about a year ago on console but was really struggling with what I was supposed to be doing beyond running round shooting people and dying a lot. I have recently taken an interest in Milsims I think I’ll jump back into this hopefully with more purpose thank you again
As someone who's newer to this game, but still well versed in FPS.. Go Machine gun class. The heavy effect that suppression offers in this game is insane, and all you need to do is put down a bipod and shoot in that direction.. its not about kills (sometimes) but it gives your squad mates a chance at pushing a position with less issue.
Ama new player, first time played for HLL and bounced from it, did tutorials like for 20 minutes and that's not even 1 percent of the knowledge I need to achieve to understand the gsme. Second frame drops was so terrible I've struggled to play. Finnaly, found some good tutorial about setting game properly and now it works cool. I'll stay for longer, also hopes for polish AK forces to hop in and play in my beautiful polish city defending Post building and sightseeing beautiful buildings 🙂
Honestly I've always found that just jumping in, getting your feet wet. Then go look up specific information about questions that arose from the gameplay helps me understand faster than trying to info dump all at once.
It’s like any new player to R6 Siege too, don’t understand the basics and you’ll be Swiss cheese very fast! But HLL and Siege are very rewarding when you get good at them, team play and tactics become important.
I think the problem is a lot of new players get overwhelmed especially when they have teammates who have 1000s of hours in game and expect miracles from them straight away. Then if the player is struggling they get kicked out etc
Great job as always Mono, the only thing I disagree with is the use of the supply truck at the beginning of the game. I believe squad leaders should use their support guy to get blue zone garis as they rush the middle. The truck can then be used by the engineers which saves fuel for the tanks. Just my thoughts. You're a great help and thank you from the 15th panzergrenadiers
With a support truck a Squad Leader and a support can build 3 garrisons at the start. It's also a best/worst case scenario situation. Best case scenario of Engineer taking truck is you get nodes + 1 garrison. Extra lucky if you get 2. Worst case is you get no garrison at all, which is FAR worse than the benefit of having nodes early is. The best way of avoiding this is for the engineer not to take the truck. So it's a "might get a slight benefit vs a massive blow to the team" or a "guaranteed good situation" with the SL taking the truck.
@@monoespacial I understand completely, My scenario is mainly with an organized team that will build garis at the start and swtich out support guys to get the job done. We aim to have our nodes started and 3 blue zone garis before reaching the neutral zone. I've learned almost everything I know from your videos, I'm so thankful for them. You've really changed the mindset of so many players in here and everyone who loves this game should thank you for it. Keep up the great work sir!
@@Peanuttts660 A well organized team will just cycle support during the warmup and build all of the nodes in HQ before the wall drops. I'm with mono on this one. Garrisons matter at the beginning of the match infinitely more than nodes do at the beginning.
Just got hell let loose today but on console and lets just say it’s been a learning experience haha. This video helped a lot though I appreciate it 👍. Some people in the game are just dicks when you try to ask questions as a newbie 😂. Was a little bit shocked there wasn’t any kind of in game tutorial. I think that would help new players get into the game faster and easier.
They are about to put in a "practice mode" supposedly... As a new player as well I'm looking forward to at least learning the ropes of being commander through that. Seems like a a lot to try to learn in game
I’ve been watching for like 2-3 months and never subbed hope ur happier now bud thx for helping me learn this game bc I definitely would of tried to treat it like battlefield
Great Video! I wish the Devs made an option for Games you can join only when you really talk. When a squad leader isn’t talking with the team and the commander you‘re having a bad time on the Battlefield
I had one game where I went against a German garrison alone, and I won. I killed ten people in maybe two minutes, and destroyed the garrison. This is probably one of the best games I have ever played. And I just unlocked the shotgun for the Assault class, so I’m gonna have some fun with this game. Also, turning off the HUD is the best setting to change.
I jumped in with no knowledge just for the hell of it. Got yelled at and a teammate (the commander apparently) killed me yet was still mad. Not even sure if it was on purpose but I was super confused. lol. But I’m not sure if I’m willing to dedicate to this game. But I can see how it’s fun when u understand the game
@monoespacial yeah he bought the game then refused to play as a conscientious objector!! 😂 (he was so traumatised by your videos of war he couldn't face it!!) Your videos were so effective people refuse to fight anymore!! 🤣😝🤪
@@hazed1009 was interested before the game came to console and learned about it. Loved it when it released on PS5 and recently built a PC due to the wide range of games available I didn’t know about previously.
@benchurchill2208 well you have fun with that pc , the ranges of games and the sheer number can be overwhelming but you'll love it. I only wished the games on pc were all brought to console , I don't like this idea no-one on console will learn to play like pc players , I think it's a smaller group than we think that play a certain console way. Given the types of games we see on there things will never change. HLL has shown there's plenty of console players who want the milsim approach I had a pc for years and only went to console for convenience . Glad you're enjoying a new system tho. You will love it I'm sure
@@hazed1009 The thing is, while there is an audience for "all games" on console, console players tend to favor some types of games over others. That's just the way it is. Nobody is leaving money on the table by not porting games like Europa Universalis to console. It's the same with every other market on the planet. The guys spending $3.000 on a bike and the people spending $500 tend to use bikes for different things. Or the people buying a work truck vs a mini cooper. They are different platforms that focus on achieving different things.
Got the game 4 days ago. Today I got my first non artillery kill. Felt good. The you will die alot tip is the best. Once you figure this out the game gets better. My only issue as a newbie is location callouts. I dont know where a thing is.
I learned a huge amount from these videos. Thank you. I have 900 hours now and feel pretty confident, thanks to good TH-camrs like you. Things that still confused me though: What munitions are required to destroy what features... I.e. engineer defenses, nodes etc. What are the exact timings for deploying strafing and bombing runs versus air heads (to defend them as they land). Exact enemy radius to highlight (red) and then lock spawn points. What are the optional map by map strategic points for holding with each unit type. I.e. high ground for tanks, vantage points for snipers. Maybe inspiration for advanced play videos???
Firstly *subscribed*. I always play a game first so I can understand what the game mechanics are then go look up a beginners guide if I'm having a hard time. About 100 hours in and I'm still a noob but this video really helped me understand the game on a deeper level. I'm gonna have to go through your other videos as well. I am having a blast in HLL so I need all the edge I can get!
Quick suggestion to any newbie. When you're ready to try squad lead, start a recon squad for a few games because snipers usually don't care if you work with them or not and you'll have access to everything that a normal squad leader has without the pressure of a bunch of squadmates on your a$$ because you aren't giving them orders.
Subbed, this is a fantastic video, you’re not the issue your content is great. Take it from someone who just found out about this game 3 days ago… no one knows the game exists I think. I haven’t heard of it and I play mostly FPS, I haven’t been able to stop playing this one or got me off my apex finals binges. So give it some time to spread.
Oh my, 29 minutes and every sentence is packed with information. So much to digest! Had my very first game recently on console and couldn't figure out how to chat back lol. I could hear the frustration of my team leader. Sorry mate!
Thanks for this video. I loaded in expecting to struggle but I was like a lost puppy. Couldn’t figure out what to do besides run and die. This video helps a lot! Thanks again
21:02 This is too true. Me and a buddy were on SME and ran all the way to the opponent's Artillery spawn, threw an OP down as far back as we could and then literally watched their team spawn in front of us. Their Commander was also spawning tanks and supply trucks there but we were killing them before they could even move. Kind of nuts that something like that is even allowed.
It's true , sometimes it can be about fun not just winning winning winning. That can get a bit too much when you just want to role play a bit and have a good laugh. I too "get it" tho , others might not agree with casual play if they're trying their best to be a winner.
thanks man - i've got about 70hrs under my belt but still confused by quite a lot of stuff tbh. This should be useful! Also, i hope one day this year to get a gfx card that can make my game look as good as yours ;)
Since I started to play this game (2019) I always play as the Automatic Rifleman, preferably as the US team and BAR is my favourite weapon 😂 so if you're a new player, try it! Don't avoid it just because this video tells you it's a bad weapon. I think it comes down to personal preference.
Just bought it this week on sale (on a whim mostly) and already had a blast in my first game. Took me like 15 deaths to even see my first enemy, but i really look forward to learning more
This was really useful. I played officer for the first time yesterday and pulled the pocket watch out and thought wtf is this for ? Telling the time whilst I’m being mauled by the enemy ? Now I know it’s one of the most useful pieces of equipment in the game 😂
I last played this game 2 years ago, I've reinstalled the game but before playing it I thought I would watch this video. Thanks for this video mate, I found it really helpful. So I've sub'd and left a like and all that good stuff, I thought it's the least I can do for a free tutorial. Cheers mate, have a great weekend.
Thanks for this video man. I recently started playing this December and I already had a good idea of everything that's mostly important but I'm still learning things. I took out my first Garrison and Outpost on my own recently and I felt so important lmao I don't know when it comes to helping out in this game it feels so great knowing you're helping your team compared to others. I only play as Rifleman, Assault and Automatic Rifleman I'm not confident enough being anything else yet just afraid of pissing off my platoon.
Honestly if you go commander and just say "hey is it OK for me to take a stab at commander?? I know how the game works but might need some advice as I go" You'll be blown away 90% of the time by how much EVERYONE helps you out! Just try it and if you get negative feedback don't think that's the norm. It's actually a rarity. I can't tell you how many games I've heard entire squads encouraging their squad leads or commanders and there's almost zero complaining. You'd be very suprised .
Yo, thank you for putting this together! Tried the game on Game Pass and ABSOLUTELY did not get what I was supposed to be doing, watching this gave me a much better understanding! I'll give the game a second go now and see how I feel
Great video. I started playing on PC since it was added to games pass after having it wishlisted for ages and I'm having a lot of fun. Once it clicks for you, it's satisfying in a way other shooters aren't.
Did my first command post last night. It was an eye opener thats for sure. We did well. A 5-0 Victory but so much to consider as well as staying alive and being able to command a unit give direct instructions and most importantly supply your unit with resources 😊
I got this game on sale. Was so excited to play it watched this video like 6 times. After 3 hours I have not had fun. I wish I could return this game. I got smacked with 30 second respawns, toxic teammates and lots of spawn kills even when I spawn way behind the front. So there goes $40 I’ll never get back
Yeah, I started playing this game a couple of days ago and I can confirm a good squad leader defiantly helped me learn the most along with a good squad. They answered questions and taught me many important mechanics along with how to play multiple roles.
*Calls the medics useless* not me running around the battlefield following the Hippocratic oath reviving every single downed teammate I see while channeling my inner Desmond doss saying "Please lord, let me save one more." to the point where my teammates are yelling "ANGIO GARHAM, IM DOWN!" I may get maybe one kill, two if im lucky. but gods be damned i wont do my best to keep the best of my team in the fight XD
Lv0-15 clueless Lv15-watched a ton of videos Lv16-25 played rifleman/autoRm. Learned how to play in squad Lv 25-40 played squad leader Lv40 - 60 played commander Currently lv67 on a 12 game win streak with commander. Keep playing this game is insane fun
The sights are so much worse than the garand though. Also the damage scaling is different. Garand is lethal at longer distances than the BAR, so for me there's no comparison.
@@monoespacial sights are a preference and to some the bulky circle of the Garand is worse. BAR also has less recoil as a semi auto than the Garand which kicks like a fucking mule.
@monoespacial If you ever feared to waste your time, I just come from a match that may've come right from your Commander guide/gameplay: well placed garrisons, even with halftracks that saved our defense once or twice and a full 90min fight over the middle point (we won, but the enemy team put up a really tough fight, so they did a good job aswell). Keep it up... even you may get "unemployed" when the tutorial comes 😄
That's assuming they do a good job with the tutorial. I have NEVER seen an in game tutorial cover all aspects as well as some of these videos like monos , or gebatron gaming's etc. If only they would hire these guys for a month or two to help make a proper guide. That would be superb
The first 9-ish mins of this vid and eventual 3 hours of game time, entirely spent as a squad leader, was enough to learn the game fast, I actually died a lot less than I expected, defended a lot better than expected and helped entire team flanks a lot better than I anticipated too. Prior squad leader knowledge from similar games helped, but it's so satisfying to learn things properly and get it done right to help your team.
As a brand new console player, I’m thankful for this video. This game is extremely cool, but I wish the devs would put some effort into streamlining and improving menus, icons, and in-game info.
If you don't speak the primary language on a server then please do not take the Commander or Squad Leader roles. You will be utterly useless and a detriment to your team.
Gonna go over a few things I think could make HLL even better with balancing changes or small features. Main thing is making comms easier. Good squads make the game way better, unless you're just hopping into a match for a quick second and are too tired to play seriously. That's OK too and its the reality a lot of HLL players are in. Once people learn the game, you can give good comms half asleep. You can build a Garry and set an OP. All Milsims seem to suffer from the same Paradox: the squad leader who volunteers and plays the role well is going to feel like they could do more by playing a different class. So they feel no reward for SLing for a bunch of guys who don't even talk back. It isn't your skill level, it's whether you can follow along with what they're planning. Squad leading is extra work and it requires a lot more effort to also get kills and play normally. But sometimes even in HLL, a light milsim, the squad leader is going to be required to hang back and babysit an outpost or spot enemies because no one else will. The good SLs are people who want the job done right, but it's hard to do that when no one else around wants to participate. The devs need to watch the comms issue closely because I think it's the community that makes the game feel fun vs. not fun in milsims. Win or lose, you want to be able to say gg. That's what makes the genre more forgiving than games where your progress is based on your MMR (like ELO system). In HLL I can lose 3 in a row and not feel any discouragement from logging in the next time and just having another go at it. The game is fun when the community gets into a match on both teams. Comms! So important to preventing this game from becoming like Battlefield. There is an awesome middle ground between the older BF games and Post Scriptum that could have HLL running for years to come. I think the game is in a pretty good spot as a game, it's the community that really needs to somehow get more into making good comms. For a game with so much aid from the UI, you get a really hard to read compass and your map doesnt default center on you when you pull it up while alive. Other milsims won't show the zoomed out overview except in the spawn/class select screen. Being able to pre-select loadouts would be great. Also more focus on Rifleman ammo would be good. Respawning on OPs shouldn't refill all ammo. Airheads either. Those are tempo and fallback spawns. It's really quite imbalanced to have AT being a class you just respawn as when a tank appears. I'd like to see them add zeroing too. Really wish the devs would find a way to make a "mic" / comms squad option. Making the opposite may encourage people to be lazy. I get it. One of the best things about HLL is that you get like three quarters of a milsim experience with a quarter of the effort. It's a simple game mechanically. I can complain a bit about map design and some of the choices about artillery. They should do more with the building aspect, but also maps feel very boxy with too many forced chokepoints that feel odd when youre like "which one of these identical houses is actually occupiable? I need to know where to check for enemies." The main thing is just getting good info out to people and making it really easy for people to get into the game. Which is HLL's main strength. I'm a Post Scriptum test weekend player. I saw the mistakes those devs made. If Post Scriptum launched today it might have a healthy chance at dethroning HLL. But the community is down to a thousand or so regular players meaning you have a couple servers full at any time. I like that HLL is casual but feel like they could seamlessly incorporate a lot of the positives of PS, which is arguably a much more faithful simulation. I think HLL mainly suffers from the lack of comms in the squads though. That makes the game a lot more fun. It's "are we attacking or defending" and you set up OPs. What's tough is that some SLs need to be building garrisons and managing the map. It feels sometimes like no one wants to draw straws, but maybe HLL could improve match quality in the games current state simply by focusing on teaching the community how to play. I am mixed about the armor system and the feeling of a 200m rifle shot not dropping someone in one shot. The 10 second of no-interaction with the map or loadout selector is weirdly more hard-core than games that are slower and have more required knowledge to play well. Maybe the bandage system overcompensates this.
I just started this game and it's rather intimidating. I played a lot of BF2 back in the day And that's the only FPS I've ever played. I'm still too chicken to join a squad in HLL So I'm watching a lot of TH-cam videos and practicing on an empty server. This video is fantastic for beginners, thank you very much
The other day I was trying to pop some smoke so to cover a fellow teammate climbing a Stuart tank as he was trying to destroy it. I didn't play HLL in a while and had some things forgotten. In all desperation of the action, I got with a blue grenade at hand and thought with myself: "blue simply cannot be HE".
I have only played one match so far, because no one let's me join their squads and they kick me the moment they see a lvl 6 who wants to learn. Thank you mono for these guides
My biggest tip, although I’m fairly new to HLL, is to be patient. When i first started I hated the game, because I would run for 10 minutes then be shot and have to do it all over again. But to the new player, just keep playing. Use your mic and you will learn how to play the game with the help of others. Once you start actually using tactics with a full squad, taking down tanks with AT, and just overall gameplanning with a full squad is what the game is about.
The nemesis of the tanks and all wheeled vehicles...... TRENCHES and BUSHES. Btw you are the only guy i watched when i started playing and still do you really helped me out. Keep doing what you are doing brother.
Yes, I've been trying out different thumbnails.
“Beginner’s guide..”
Mono, you are anything but a Beginner ;)
If only this was shown to every new player as they start their climb up the ranks.
Can you imagine how good it would be??
Random matches would be like tournament games!!!
Let's hope this new roadmap with tutorial does as good a job as you have here.
I'm level 157, level 10 on squad lead, engineer and suppprt, level 8 on rifleman, anti tank and assault level 7 on tank commander, crew and level 6 or 5 on everything else (i dont play sniper tho) and I just learned something new from this video!!!! 😶
I didn't realise the capture in the two game modes changes!!! No-one ever said lol
There's me telling players to build around the black circl and NOT inside it but I always assumed the distance had to be the whole 4 squares not more close in one of these modes.
Still I'm glad I was correct to keep garrisons outside that circle. I have been guilty of a constant reaction of a squad spawn inside that circle as the position is being overun tho to try to get my whole squad to occupy the circle for double the manpower score. Thus, it has worked to save a capture but now I might reconsider this in warfare mode.🤔
Thanks for this and all the other videos!!
I would like to talk, via email to explain some more shortcuts that my friends & I have figured out to help your team win?
what's wrong with your original ones?
were yo born with thumbnails??
that's gotta be rough, i'd imagine thats aa pretty weak grip strength.
🤣🤣
i need your settings cuz normal one sucks
I love how you basically said that if somebody doesn't have the patience for a 30-minute video they're not going to have the patience for this game because that is probably the most accurate thing ever

Medic is a good class to start with. Got me used to the game and I felt like I was accomplishing a lot, plus people were so happy to have me save them!
Literally one of the least rewarding classes in the game that has so many problems it's more likely to frustrate new players and not encourage them.
It is not good. It's useless. Bring a real gun with some ammo. Medics are useless. Just because you enjoy it, doesn't make it good
I also like to take the loadout with a ton of smokes to meme with. With nothing but a pistol, I run into enemy fire to save my brothers!
For all the new people coming in. Dont get hung up on all the information. Its still a game. You will learn as you play. Im a level 140 and never watched any of these videos and learned all this on my own. Just play what class you want, use a mic, and you'll be ok.

@@avalonjustin it's kinda intimidating when everyone around you just seems to always know where the enemy is and what's going on, and you're just stuck there lost trying to figure out where they shot from
I had a game where there was an enemy FOB right next to a friendly spawn and I kept respawning there tryijng to shoot them but kept dying, and I hoped atleast my squadmates would realize and destroy it because I was too shy to tell them in VC
they didn't realize until after like 10 minutes and after I had died like 10 times over to the same enemies spawining at that FOB
Same!!! Another thing learned.
@@monoespacial hey if you made an hour and a half video, I’d watch it!
700 hours is the equivalent of like 21 full matches. I’m exaggerating obviously but it makes me giggle thinking that the equivalent of “I played the f**k out of that game” in most other games is when you start to transition from advanced beginner to competent in HLL lol
Thanks for supporting the community Mono. Devs should hire you to help build upcoming tutorials.
Agreed. I was thinking the same thing. This video and gebatron gaming (His emphasis on behaviour is brilliant) mixed together !! Wow that would solve EVERYTHING.
Misleading. New players can't join matches.
@@greyfox4577 this is so true the medic hate is dumb
17:04 MG can be essential for attacking- surpressive fire can totally deny enemies from peeking and hitting your teammates, along with providing a safe angle of attack as you will shoot anyone that tries to peek anyways. The difference between having fire superiority and not is winning or losing, and 2 MG's opening up at the same time can flatten a defense for a long time
Mgs can go absolutelt crazy. I tried one on my second game and got a good flank in a tree line and smacked 20 people before they eventually air striked me. Came back and got 25 ish more before I died again. Hell of a game.
That feeling when you set up in a good spot with an mg is so good.

Just don't play squad lead
Don't start with medic unless you learned what you are even looking at bro. Play Skirmish and do rifleman or something. You will get it. Use mics. Don't be shy. You on the internet so. We all nerds. But yea. Start with rifleman type basic combat pawns. 😅
I enjoy Officer and I am still new.
Don't be a squad leader, be patient, follow orders. Should be stress free. Medic can be stressful when everyone is yelling for help.
I started as squad lead
Just started playing this game this weekend, I didn't realise it had so much depth until I played it. I also heard the trope from friends that it's just a game where you run and die repeatedly, but now having played it myself that is obviously such a superficial and ignorant take.
I'm loving the passion for teamwork and coordination, so far people have been very helpful to me over VoIP. I've jumped onto Support, Recon and Armor positions and been promptly yelled at for not doing my job, but once I told people I'm new they were quite happy to chill out and teach me. It's really satisfying to be thanked for carrying out an order or providing important intel (it almost makes me think that the only way to rank up should be via people commending you, like, you know, how it works in real life)
In my limited experience, however, I do think you glossed over the Recon squad.

Was good to catcha yah in USRangers squad man, even thoough it was 5mins, the flame thrower supports clips you captured turned out really dope! 🔥🔥
Lol, yeah! Glad it didn't take much longer to get decent footage.
This is a VERY good, very spot on guide. Well done, sir. Unfortunately most new players won’t spend the time to learn all this lol but give ‘em time
Ama new player, first time played for HLL and bounced from it, did tutorials like for 20 minutes and that's not even 1 percent of the knowledge I need to achieve to understand the gsme.
@@devinaschenbrenner2683 absolutely. Most people just don’t do that though
Battlefield has been my favorite multiplayer game for many years.

HLL has shown there's plenty of console players who want the milsim approach
I had a pc for years and only went to console for convenience .

Just got this game and a mic is a must, Communication is key.
I learned a huge amount from these videos. Thank you. I have 900 hours now and feel pretty confident, thanks to good TH-camrs like you.
Things that still confused me though:
What munitions are required to destroy what features... I.e. engineer defenses, nodes etc.

About 100 hours in and I'm still a noob but this video really helped me understand the game on a deeper level. I'm gonna have to go through your other videos as well. I am having a blast in HLL so I need all the edge I can get!
Quick suggestion to any newbie. When you're ready to try squad lead, start a recon squad for a few games because snipers usually don't care if you work with them or not and you'll have access to everything that a normal squad leader has without the pressure of a bunch of squadmates on your a$$ because you aren't giving them orders.
I’ve been waiting until everyone I settled and then create my squad and I never have anyone join in while I’m learning the game
Subbed, this is a fantastic video, you’re not the issue your content is great. Take it from someone who just found out about this game 3 days ago… no one knows the game exists I think.
That’s the primary purpose of recon. Shutting down artillery is critical. Artillery can win games
Some servers have rules against that but I think it’s fair game
Thank you very much for the tips! First game after this video and I had 67 kills with 21 deaths, 3 garrisons and 8 outposts destroyed!

Best current video guide out. Covering a lot to get started. Stop hating on medic though bro it's fun to play in casual games. I get it though
Thank you for a good video and links to more unit guides. As a new player, I'm very eager to learn what i need to do.
Since I started to play this game (2019) I always play as the Automatic Rifleman, preferably as the US team and BAR is my favourite weapon 😂 so if you're a new player, try it! Don't avoid it just because this video tells you it's a bad weapon. I think it comes down to personal preference.
All you gotta do is anticipate recoil and rise. As soon as you get used to that and the iron sights it's not bad

Capping a point does give 1 advantage. Garrisons only need 50 supplies instead of 100(in enemy territory)
That and any enemy spawns in the area get destroyed.
This was really useful. I played officer for the first time yesterday and pulled the pocket watch out and thought wtf is this for ? Telling the time whilst I’m being mauled by the enemy ? Now I know it’s one of the most useful pieces of equipment in the game 😂

If you talk to them, they won't be pissed
Honestly if you go commander and just say "hey is it OK for me to take a stab at commander?? I know how the game works but might need some advice as I go"
You'll be blown away 90% of the time by how much EVERYONE helps you out!

*Calls the medics useless*
not me running around the battlefield following the Hippocratic oath reviving every single downed teammate I see while channeling my inner Desmond doss saying "Please lord, let me save one more." to the point where my teammates are yelling "ANGIO GARHAM, IM DOWN!"
I may get maybe one kill, two if im lucky. but gods be damned i wont do my best to keep the best of my team in the fight XD
Lv0-15 clueless
Lv15-watched a ton of videos
Lv16-25 played rifleman/autoRm. Learned how to play in squad
Lv 25-40 played squad leader
Lv40 - 60 played commander
Currently lv67 on a 12 game win streak with commander.
Keep playing this game is insane fun
Disagree about the BAR. Single fire that thing and it’s as good as the garand at distance. Close quarters you have a full auto 308
Thanks for this video just getting into the game with only a couple hours. Feel a lot more aware of what to do now thank you !
Glad I could help!
God bless you, lots of blueberries recently.
Just installed the game. This was an excellent intro video. Thank you
medic is too much run role playing and def helps when i’m doing sneaky squad things behind enemy lines mmm
Its a good watch even if you already know how the game works, its very important for new players to understand the game
Tictak best beginner
straight up
As a brand new console player, I’m thankful for this video. This game is extremely cool, but I wish the devs would put some effort into streamlining and improving menus, icons, and in-game info.
Camp, die. Get up, run and die, crouch, die, prone die, prone at re-spawn, all other players leave, you- die. I tried to like it, I really did.
Just started playing yesterday, amazing game and thanks for the video!
It should be a requirement to watch this video before u play
The community is so welcoming and helpful. One of the lest toxic multi-player game I've played in a while
If you don't speak the primary language on a server then please do not take the Commander or Squad Leader roles. You will be utterly useless and a detriment to your team.
This
3 days in and learned alot , but this video is very detailed and gives a better gamesense 🎉👌
I need to know where to check for enemies."
The main thing is just getting good info out to people and making it really easy for people to get into the game.
This video is fantastic for beginners, thank you very much
Just join a squad. Dont over think it. if you don't like the squad leave join another.
I started today and im absolutely shocking 😂 hopefully this video will help me out
Loved this video. Recently new to the game and this was super helpful
Comment for the Algo. Love your guides - my first recommendation for new players! Cheers, Mono 🎉
Really glad I stumbled upon this video! Never played it before, but downloading now. Good video! Subscribed.
