Yeah. I was watching a video recently that discussed hard factors vs soft factors in games. The "hard" factors are easy to model so these are easy to include in the game rules, but the "soft" factors often have a significant effect that is much harder to address.
Great video. I build and painted two od these so far. I was very curious about BF's Tiger II because there was a very good Tiger II kit in plastic so far. Aslo had BF made this in resin/metal before. Anyway they were able to make this plastic kit that bit better. Even if one has enough Tiger IIs for gaming so far this is a great box to have. Recomended. Just one addition. The hatch at the back of the turret was not made for loading shells. (It turned out it could be used for that.) The main design idea was, that the gun could be removed that way very easily for maintenance or to replace it. You find the same hatch on the "Jagdpanther" which had the same gun for the same reason.
Ah. Yes. I did know that about the hatch, now that you mention it. It’s the same for the hatch on the back of the Challenger turret for the British. But big hatches are also good for long shells!
Wish V4 allowed for more interaction with the King Tiger. Seems like almost every weakness (besides flanking which could be a challenge) has gone away. I suppose the only drawback happens to be less models on the table. The Ferdinand/Elephant pose a similar challenge, but are less capable of being used offensively.
The removal of the limitations in the current King Tiger stats did give me pause. I was also sad that Bulge British removed the halted rate-of-fire 3 and Semi-Indirect Fire rules for Challenger. Maybe I just need a German force.
Kit looks fantastic. I'm still undecided about the way its presented in the game, streamlining out the penalising rules and so on. I guess that's v4 in a nutshell - less granular, more abstracted.
Yeah. V4 did go for streamlining the rules. I can see the appeal, but some of the special rules for this one in V3 made sure there were drawbacks to fielding these things. There's a reason no one built more of these after the end of the war.
Great video and excellent selection of period footage. I remember you did one on the Zvesda model. How do they compare side by side? One of the big miss from BF here are the decals, they could have made the iconic and colourful oversized numbers the tigers II had in the ardennes.
Comparison pics always a good idea. BF tend to over thick gun barrels for the sake of robustness so I suspect the Zvezda one might look a bit underfed in comparison.
Hey guys. I do have a review of the Zvezda King Tiger. I tend not to do comparison videos anymore. Battlefront have proven sensitive to direct comparisons, so I’ve stopped doing them. It doesn’t make a lot of sense these days. Battlefront make great products that stand up to comparisons. But I think they remember the very early days when Plastic Soldier Company had the lead on plastics. Since then, BF have become very experienced with plastic kit design and manufacture. These days I avoid direct comparisons in reviews of BF products as a courtesy.

@@misterballista zvezdas Tiger II 8,8cm gun is about the same size as PF panther 7,5cm guns.
