  • Clash of Steel is GF9's new tank on tank miniature wargame, and it is awesome. Featuring the Maus, the Tortoise and other super heavy tanks, this game is the tread head and armor modeler's dream. Clash of Steel is base on the same rules that Battlefront Miniatures have been using for several years for Flames of War and Team Yankee, but despite this, it is a unique new game that is sure to be a favourite for miniature and historical wargamers everywhere. In this video, I am going to do a deep dive into the rules & background of the game so you can understand why Clash of Steel going to be the hot new title when it hits the shelves at your friendly local game store.
If you like miniature wargaming of any type including Warhammer, 40k, dioramas, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (D&D), Black Powder, napoleonics, historicals and Bolt Action, I suggest you watch as this video.

I picked up the US vs Soviet box. The models look great, the mechanics look interesting and there's actually DECALS for the vehicles included! It irritates me to no end that many of the FoW and TY boxes do not come with decals. Instead they want you to go and buy their extra decal set(s). Always feels like I'm getting nickled and dimed without the decals. Anyways, good review!

This game exists because sometimes I just want to put some tanks down, not need any effect cards or upgrade cards, and jsut blast my opponent.
And because I already have E-100s, Maus, and T95s and more Pershings than I know what to do with. So yeah let's go Clash of Steel!

    Thanks, this was informative.
The starter boxes are so well priced they seem to worth picking up just for the WWII models.

They sure are. With the upcoming late war leviathans these tanks will have even more use (if that if your thing).

Now, Im just wondering, since i own 20+ World of Tanks Minitatures tanks, is it possible to play Clas of Steel with World of Tanks miniatures?

As long as they have unit cards for those tanks in Clash of Steel, the answer is yes. The models from world of tanks are just assembled / primered kits from Flames of War / Team Yankee. Just know going in that tanks in this game are usually bought in units of 2-5, and are priced accordingly.

As a Flames of War and World of Tanks player, do I really need more tanks? Absolutely!

Yes 100% compatible provided you can find the COS rules for the tanks you have.

No these are for the same scale as Flames of War and Team Yankee, which is 15mm (1:100).

Yes indeed. All the things that make WW2 gaming so fascinating. Still, if some gamers have issues chewing gum and climbing the stairs at the same time...

If there are 4 factions it should be 2v2 not 3v1.

Hmm, an alternate history game with no realism.....not for any serious wargamer, IMO. Games like this appeal mainly to kids. If the game had some really unique game mechanics that made it a great game tactically, it would be another story, but I can't imagine any mature, serious historical wargamer bothering with a game like this. It may serve well as a gateway for younger folks to engage in a more serious wargame or simulation.

WOT is a game you should NOT be giving any money to! They have strong connections to less than savory organizations within Russia.
