I am a Sherman guy, so for me this is the best army box Battlefront has ever made! I picked this up a few months ago and had a blast putting everything together.

About 20 pcs of Pershings saw action at the end of the WW2. Super Pershing - one of two prototypes saw action as well. Look for famous story : "Super Pershing vs. King Tiger - Dessau city" . This Super Pershing was uparmored in Germany with the improvised additional armor plates (hull , additional armor plate in front of turret mantlet = refurbished armor plate from destroyed Panther tank....etc....) Makeshift solution, the original Super Pershing prototype did suffer from a very weak mantlet - an 88 mm shell from a Tiger I’s KwK 36 able to go straight through. It would be even less of a match for the Tiger II’s KwK 43.

The 76mm turret for the Sherman was originally made for the T23 medium tank, you can actually see the old resin "Mid-War Monsters" M27 tank (what the T23 was supposed to become) for Flames of War 3rd Edition, using the same turret...

Really wish I liked FoW. This kit looks fantastic. Well thought out, and stuffed with beautiful plastic. Does not look like a set for a beginner, though. So much variety of how to build platoons.

Probably not a great place to start as a beginner modeller, but I would say if you are starting ww2 US it is great - play a small game with one or two types, then slowly size up.

@@ModellingforAdvantage the super pershing that you can build was uparmored by the crew. They took steel out of destroyed tanks and mounted it on the tank. It saw action late in the war and was scrapped after the war. Sorry for bad english

Qapla' Keiser (unless my aging eyes deceived me 😄)
A really nice starter force, I don't know if there are spare track links included with the E8 kit, those could be glued on that "skirt", just like in real life, it might have provided some extra protection.

    The Super Pershing wasn't Shipped.
It was modified in Europe after comming in contact with germany biggest cats where the normal Pershing didnt match up, like Tiger II, JagdPanther, even panther, they wanted something to have an edge, only 2 were ever made, there are some info that it got into combat, and it's said it mannaged to defeat a Tiger of some sort, but highly unlikely since from german records where this took place no tigers remained, so it might been a Panzer 4 with the armour skirts on the turret, that was often mistaken for a tiger.
The normal Pershing was great against the majority of german armour, remember the BIG bulk of tanks were still Stugs & Panzer 4, or mobile anti-tank guns, mostly with the german 75mm, those struggled to take out the Pershing, so it had the superiority in those situations!

Aye... not only were most tanks PZIV and STuG... most German tanks were lost by mid-January on the West.
