Thank you for explaining the service aspect of fabrication a bit. I might be a bit biased as I often do service on these kinds of things, and have some friends that enjoy fabrication. But seriously. Whether you're doing it yourself or outsourcing the fabrication to someone else - always keep in the _front_ of your mind, that this bit will be a piece of a whole, and its almost guaranteed to be coming off a good bunch of times. Those few extra handfulls of rupees in some extra flanges, a tiny bit of extra welding, a bit of extra beating or shaping (depending on what kind of part it is you're making), are gonna be worth their weight in unobtainium when you, your mates or your go-to mechanic/service guy need to have it off. If you're looking at having to pay people to work on/service it, you'll likely break even just on the worktime-billing for your first service.
Another aspect, is later revisions and changes. If you want or need to do a change eg. Further down the line/piping, it'll likely be both cheaper and a lot less hassle, reworking or replacing a "smaller segment".
