Time Travel is one of the weirdest category, to be honest.
Like, you can literally take as long as you need if it is required to make the in game timer less than the run before it even if the actual run itself takes a lot longer.
Very similar to minimum% runs in other games. (eg in Super Mario Odyssey where a 10 hour run with 4 captures is better than a 30 minute run with 5)
which makes it completely pointless but I guess everyone enjoys something

the test for is it legit is simple
tell your buddies you can beat the game super fast
do your run
if they say dude that took hours you failed
because no one cares what the clock says its about how long it actually took

That’s not anywhere near broken. That’s just a set of quirks with the way minecraft is coded ._.
I mean it's singleplayer so it doesn't really matter much for there to be exploits like this, since you can always just open to lan and enable cheats anyway

You should cover Minecraft CTM speedruns, which are in my opinion the most underrated speedruns on the entire internet. The way the maps are thoroughly broken, the insane skill and strategizing needed to pull them off, and the pure spectacle of the runs is absolutely fantastic. There even seems to be a very small community which will compete for world records on the more popular maps. Definitely worth a look!
What is CTM
@@RoseQuartz692 Complete The Monument. It involves navigating a player made map to retrieve various colored wool blocks, which are then placed in a "monument" to signify that you have completed the tasks. Once the monument is complete, the map is considered finished.

I don't understand, if in-game timer is broken then it means it''s broken, not that a run that's many minute long lasts one second because timer says so.
Yeah, this category is the dumbest idea the gaming community has ever came ul with. "Guys lets not update the timer and call it a 1 second run despite it taking 4 hours to complete!"
I mean, that’s why it’s a separate category. Someone found an exploit for the timer and instead of removing it they kept it around as a joke category because it was interesting enough strategy-wise that a few people thought it worthy to speedrun.

@@galaxi6585 its still a speedrun in the sense that the goal is to get the fastest possible time; its just that getting said time requires a broken timer

Imagine being an enderman, then some guy and a structure just spawns above a newly completed end portal and the dragon disappears, only for that guy to disappear into the portal milliseconds later.
Every video like this says 'Forget everything you know about the game'. Anytime I watch a video like this one I always forget everything before watching already.

Proposition: the ign timer is removed and only the irl timer is counted in speedruns
then you mess over everyone that doesn't have godlike pcs. some of the fastest runs were from people that had pcs that could run on 20 fps max, and needed time to pause for things to load.

This is the funniest speedrun to me because the nature of time travel means they can make ten million mistakes and they all make it into the run, which results in it seeming like a comedy of errors that still results in a world record. 😂
