Hi, I'm the guy who set the fireball record at about 9:20, just want to say my record was for the farthest distance on the hypixel fireball jump practice mode using only fireballs, which I set to 65, beating 63. On hypixel you only get 5 fireballs and in his video he uses many more, which makes our runs not the same things at all, plus he didn't even beat my distance he only tied it, lol.

I’ve been very surprised at the fact that some of Mr. Beasts most popular videos are concepts that people like Preston did first back then, I used to get recommended “1$ vs. 1,000,000$” videos and “Boys vs Girls” type videos from Preston all the time. Though I can’t really speak to the quality of either creators take on the concept, never watched them personally.

when 100 days [blank] hardcore videos first got popular, i remember watching one series by socks4one, i think, where the gimmick was just a metric ton of mods, and a few videos into the series …he died. i expected it to end right there, and realistically it could've but he decided to just reload a backup, and he was honest about it. i did stop watching the series after that episode, but looking back, i respect him for being honest about it, and he did lose some progress at least, so there were some consequences i guess. i know my random comment won't change the minds of infinite different youtubers, but i think all their videos would be way better if they were just honest about they're failure, because it's been proven that those videos still work, not just by that random example, but also by the challenge run community. any time their "can you beat [blank] without [blank]" runs fail, they change them into minimum possible runs (unless you're gamechamp, but she's actually insane and a hazard to her own health) and those videos come out great, and actually have some suspense since the question isn't answered by the video itself existing.
My young niece watches Preston and maybe for the most part he’s harmless but it did break my heart a little bit to have to be the one to explain to my niece that he’s lying about the “scary” seeds, she really wanted me to set it up for her so she could experience it. When I explained that it’s not vanilla minecraft, probably mods, she asked for that and I searched for the mods he might have used and found that they didn’t exist publicly, probably to make it less possible to prove that he’s lying. And with records it’s not great to lie but I can understand it more than lying about seeds and downloaded worlds, like will you really lose your audience if you do admit to using mods? Or even hell if you don’t admit it but still have the mods or worlds accessible to the public.
Replying to myself but I remember how upset young me was when finding out the yogscast minecraft was all scripted but at the time there wasn’t really a feasible way for kids to have that experience so it’s not like they were doing it to gatekeep the experience. Whereas the fake seeds he does could be experienced by all his young fans, with the right help to set it up with the mods, but instead he just covers it all up with fake stories. And yeah it really does not matter in the long run, I just think it’s annoying and unnecessary

I study mathematics, so I wanted to dig a little bit into how this works. To be honest, I am not confident that I have a good grasp of the situation, but I think that due to the fact that Minecraft uses a pseudorandom generator, that it is, in fact impossible. If you leave the seed box empty, Minecraft uses a linear congruential generator to find a random seed. This uses a previous random number, to find the next one. Crucially, this means that if you generate the same number twice, you get a loop. Meaning; if he has truly generated the same world twice, he has exhausted all 2^48 possible random numbers. Suppose you generate one random number every nanosecond, that would still take 3,25 days. There's still quite a few questions, which do not make this argumentation flawless. I for example do not know how the first number is generated, does it save the number from the previous session? Perhaps he can have restarted the game, possibly causing a different algorithm generated a number based on the computers clock timer (which is a common practice). Additionally, it might be possible for two different seeds to generate the same world. Seems weirdly common with Minecraft TH-camrs, I worked as an editor for RageElixer (8mil subscribers) and had somewhat of a similar experience. $20 for Lixian-style edits, had to frequently REMIND them to pay me, removed credit from videos I made for them. Weird how common of an experience this seems to be.

That last segment of the video was really interesting to me and honestly you earned a subscriber. The ability of someone to tell the truth aftering lying is what matters. As a small creator myself I understand what you did and why you did it, so don't feel ashamed. You fessed up about it and you needed to capitalize on that opportunity.
I completely understand why people cheat in 100 day hardcore videos, because of the amount of time put into them and the pressure to succeed. Not wanting 15/33 hours of recording wasted and all, and the fact that it's hard for a viewer to see would make it more tempting. I appreciate you being honest about you cheating in yours, and i think that as viewers we all need to be a bit less trusting of what random men playing minecraft tell us. Don't just think that everyone is a liar, but media literacy, taking a step back and asking "Would i a v know if this was dishonest?' 'what reasons would there be for lying to the audience?" "how does these lies affect the story told and our perspective of the narrator?" are important. There are no videos online that show the whole truth, and it's important to be aware of it, like way beyond Minecraft. All ways question the things you are shown, and then make a choice to believe things or not. And i feel there are a lot of "lies" in minecraft videos, especially Lifesteal, because who cares about the full story? If one person can make an engaging story using mainly the facts that benefit him, and streamlines it by stretching some truths and not elaborating on other parts, does it matter? Do good stories NEED honesty? Not really. But we just need to be more aware of how easy mistruths are to depict in videos.
Another reason why the 100*100*100 emerald block from 8:50 can't be real: There are 60 double chests shown in the video. If you assume they're all full to the brim with emerald blocks, you would have 60 * 54 * 64 = 207360. The actual number of emerald blocks someone would need to build a 100*100*100 emerald block(assuming they even actually built the whole thing) is one million. I mean you could say that there are chests under the platform, but it just seems really unlikely that they would put chests down there when it would just slow building down. It would be much better to build more layers of chests up to the the sky.

Man, it blows how far Preston has fallen, I used to love his content. If you go back 6-8 years ago you can actually find good content, like when he was actually good at parkour, did an advent calendar with his friend Woofless, played "money wars" (knockoff bed wars.) It's not one of those "just grew out of it" things either, because those old videos still hold up and not just for nostalgia- the new ones are just completely insufferable. He is the living embodiment of that meme that goes: "Me building up the courage to unsubscribe from a youtuber who I've watched grow and progressively become more annoying."

At one point curiosity got the best of me and I did watch a couple of his among us videos. While his videos are undeniably kids clickbait cringe, the actual mods he uses are very well made. He clearly has a very impressive mod team behind those videos, and I can respect that. When his thumbnail shows something in it, the video actually has that thing in it- and it’s not just a simple retexture, generally an entirely new gameplay mechanic. (No, I wouldn’t say it’s worth watching still, just wanted to give praise to the mod team behind it)

My ten year old nephew used to watch Preston constantly, only his pokemon content. It’s pretty clear he has no issue with hacking and cheating to make a big show for the kids. Only thing is that it does mislead kids pretty heavily, to the point where my then 7 year old nephew was super bummed out when I told them that Shadow Mewtwo could in fact NOT be caught in any Pokémon game. I sat down and explains what a “mod” was, and that he had to have messed with his games to make change how mewtwo looked. Then when he asked to have his switch modded, I had to tell him no sense it risked banning his account from playing online. Had to explain him altering shiny odds, how randomizes worked, and even how opening Pokemon cards can be faked. I felt like a massive buzzkill, but this kid was begging his already poor parents to buy Pokemon cards when he would get a lot more joy out of buying games themselves. If you don’t know about the mechanics or don’t pay close attention, you’ll gonna be mislead regardless of age. Had a chat with his mother and she ended up limiting his watch time on that and similar creators. His mom had no clue about Elsagate either, so you could imagine how many times I’ve had to run in and update her knowledge on what is and isn’t very safe for her kid to be watching. (She’s a former drug addict and has only been sober for around four years now. Granted that she was a user since 16, that is a MAJOR accomplishment. Regardless she’s mentally stunted and forgot/missed out on a lot of the key changes in online media during that large period of time. ) Trying to be a good pibling but stuff had been crazy recently and I just think it’s a bit unfair for the kid. It’s not like he wants to love a content creator that posts faked content, he just loved how loud and over the top the results are. Not a lot of good content has those features, and most of which would give parents headaches anyway. He and his baby brother are both living with us now after his mother discovered a camera hidden in his room facing his bed. So now the kid’s on lockdown since we have zero clue who it was that put it there, so he just ended up begging to watch TH-cam all day. Which fine, you know do what you can, but sooo much of the content is just horrible. I grew up watching stuff like family guy in secret, I doubt words are gonna limit this kid from watching anything. Regardless I just wish there were better options for them, must be mind numbing not to have creative skills…
Got this video on my recommended feed. This ordeal is quite funny to me because I actually hold one of these records (Most 2 block jumps consecutively) which I uploaded a year before @PrestonPlayz video and it's not even close (WR is 10000 blocks took about 100 minutes). About cheating death in hardcore. I think it's way funnier and more tense when you die in survival since usually all of your progress is at risk instead of just "welp, that was a waste of time."
At 6 mins jaron is proud of himself for figuring out the thing with the ruined portal, however when the speed runner kills the ghast it literally says “unlocked ghast identity”

when 100 days [blank] hardcore videos first got popular, i remember watching one series by socks4one, i think, where the gimmick was just a metric ton of mods, and a few videos into the series …he died. i expected it to end right there, and realistically it could've but he decided to just reload a backup, and he was honest about it. i did stop watching the series after that episode, but looking back, i respect him for being honest about it, and he did lose some progress at least, so there were some consequences i guess.
i know my random comment won't change the minds of infinite different youtubers, but i think all their videos would be way better if they were just honest about they're failure, because it's been proven that those videos still work, not just by that random example, but also by the challenge run community. any time their "can you beat [blank] without [blank]" runs fail, they change them into minimum possible runs (unless you're gamechamp, but she's actually insane and a hazard to her own health) and those videos come out great, and actually have some suspense since the question isn't answered by the video itself existing.
My young niece watches Preston and maybe for the most part he’s harmless but it did break my heart a little bit to have to be the one to explain to my niece that he’s lying about the “scary” seeds, she really wanted me to set it up for her so she could experience it. When I explained that it’s not vanilla minecraft, probably mods, she asked for that and I searched for the mods he might have used and found that they didn’t exist publicly, probably to make it less possible to prove that he’s lying. And with records it’s not great to lie but I can understand it more than lying about seeds and downloaded worlds, like will you really lose your audience if you do admit to using mods? Or even hell if you don’t admit it but still have the mods or worlds accessible to the public.
Replying to myself but I remember how upset young me was when finding out the yogscast minecraft was all scripted but at the time there wasn’t really a feasible way for kids to have that experience so it’s not like they were doing it to gatekeep the experience. Whereas the fake seeds he does could be experienced by all his young fans, with the right help to set it up with the mods, but instead he just covers it all up with fake stories. And yeah it really does not matter in the long run, I just think it’s annoying and unnecessary

I study mathematics, so I wanted to dig a little bit into how this works. To be honest, I am not confident that I have a good grasp of the situation, but I think that due to the fact that Minecraft uses a pseudorandom generator, that it is, in fact impossible.
If you leave the seed box empty, Minecraft uses a linear congruential generator to find a random seed. This uses a previous random number, to find the next one. Crucially, this means that if you generate the same number twice, you get a loop. Meaning; if he has truly generated the same world twice, he has exhausted all 2^48 possible random numbers. Suppose you generate one random number every nanosecond, that would still take 3,25 days.
There's still quite a few questions, which do not make this argumentation flawless. I for example do not know how the first number is generated, does it save the number from the previous session? Perhaps he can have restarted the game, possibly causing a different algorithm generated a number based on the computers clock timer (which is a common practice). Additionally, it might be possible for two different seeds to generate the same world.

I completely understand why people cheat in 100 day hardcore videos, because of the amount of time put into them and the pressure to succeed. Not wanting 15/33 hours of recording wasted and all, and the fact that it's hard for a viewer to see would make it more tempting.
I appreciate you being honest about you cheating in yours, and i think that as viewers we all need to be a bit less trusting of what random men playing minecraft tell us. Don't just think that everyone is a liar, but media literacy, taking a step back and asking "Would i a v know if this was dishonest?' 'what reasons would there be for lying to the audience?" "how does these lies affect the story told and our perspective of the narrator?" are important.
There are no videos online that show the whole truth, and it's important to be aware of it, like way beyond Minecraft. All ways question the things you are shown, and then make a choice to believe things or not.
And i feel there are a lot of "lies" in minecraft videos, especially Lifesteal, because who cares about the full story? If one person can make an engaging story using mainly the facts that benefit him, and streamlines it by stretching some truths and not elaborating on other parts, does it matter? Do good stories NEED honesty? Not really. But we just need to be more aware of how easy mistruths are to depict in videos.

There are 60 double chests shown in the video. If you assume they're all full to the brim with emerald blocks, you would have
60 * 54 * 64 = 207360. The actual number of emerald blocks someone would need to build a 100*100*100 emerald block(assuming they even actually built the whole thing) is one million.
I mean you could say that there are chests under the platform, but it just seems really unlikely that they would put chests down there when it would just slow building down. It would be much better to build more layers of chests up to the the sky.

If you go back 6-8 years ago you can actually find good content, like when he was actually good at parkour, did an advent calendar with his friend Woofless, played "money wars" (knockoff bed wars.) He clearly has a very impressive mod team behind those videos, and I can respect that. When his thumbnail shows something in it, the video actually has that thing in it- and it’s not just a simple retexture, generally an entirely new gameplay mechanic.

My ten year old nephew used to watch Preston constantly, only his pokemon content. It’s pretty clear he has no issue with hacking and cheating to make a big show for the kids.
Only thing is that it does mislead kids pretty heavily, to the point where my then 7 year old nephew was super bummed out when I told them that Shadow Mewtwo could in fact NOT be caught in any Pokémon game.
I sat down and explains what a “mod” was, and that he had to have messed with his games to make change how mewtwo looked. Then when he asked to have his switch modded, I had to tell him no sense it risked banning his account from playing online.
Had to explain him altering shiny odds, how randomizes worked, and even how opening Pokemon cards can be faked. I felt like a massive buzzkill, but this kid was begging his already poor parents to buy Pokemon cards when he would get a lot more joy out of buying games themselves.
If you don’t know about the mechanics or don’t pay close attention, you’ll gonna be mislead regardless of age. Had a chat with his mother and she ended up limiting his watch time on that and similar creators.
His mom had no clue about Elsagate either, so you could imagine how many times I’ve had to run in and update her knowledge on what is and isn’t very safe for her kid to be watching.
(She’s a former drug addict and has only been sober for around four years now. Granted that she was a user since 16, that is a MAJOR accomplishment. Regardless she’s mentally stunted and forgot/missed out on a lot of the key changes in online media during that large period of time. )
Trying to be a good pibling but stuff had been crazy recently and I just think it’s a bit unfair for the kid. It’s not like he wants to love a content creator that posts faked content, he just loved how loud and over the top the results are. Not a lot of good content has those features, and most of which would give parents headaches anyway.
He and his baby brother are both living with us now after his mother discovered a camera hidden in his room facing his bed. So now the kid’s on lockdown since we have zero clue who it was that put it there, so he just ended up begging to watch TH-cam all day. Which fine, you know do what you can, but sooo much of the content is just horrible.
I grew up watching stuff like family guy in secret, I doubt words are gonna limit this kid from watching anything. Regardless I just wish there were better options for them, must be mind numbing not to have creative skills…

Got this video on my recommended feed. This ordeal is quite funny to me because I actually hold one of these records (Most 2 block jumps consecutively) which I uploaded a year before @PrestonPlayz video and it's not even close (WR is 10000 blocks took about 100 minutes). Anyways, thank you @Yeah_Jaron for covering this!
About cheating death in hardcore. I think it's way funnier and more tense when you die in survival since usually all of your progress is at risk instead of just "welp, that was a waste of time."
At 6 mins jaron is proud of himself for figuring out the thing with the ruined portal, however when the speed runner kills the ghast it literally says “unlocked ghast identity”
They just forgot to remove the morph mod
@@findtheworldrecords yeah but when your speedrunning or setting a world record, you can’t have any mods installed anyway. Even if it’s a shader pack that doesn’t affect the gameplay it still gets disqualified

@@Univrsalsuniverse nope all mods are banned. Some guy recently had their speed run taken down because they had a mod that prevented their game from crashing. It literally did nothing else.
