What these old men are showing us is that you only need simple tools to be creative. And that's how creative our Kenyan musicians were in the 1960s to 1970s. But just listen to the crap we get in our ears in the 21st.
    century!

First heard this in early 70s. They Sounds even better now in their advanced age.
    Chorus basically says:
“It’s not clothing, to borrow from someone
A child is not clothing, to borrow from someone
If you don’t have yours, you will cry a lot
If you don’t have yours, you will cry a lot”
Deep meaning enhanced by his touching voice,
    and the instruments ..wow!!
This song was spot on in epitomizing the value of children in African culture.

The Late George Mukabi' s Singuo replayed by his younger brother Johnstone . George Mukabi (1930-1963) was a folk musician from western Kenya, and was one of the first recording musicians in Kenya. In his short musical career he recorded less than 30 songs. He made platinum hits and was one of very few Kenyan musicians to own a car. His playing was massively popular and influential, affecting urban players like John Mwale, also a Luhyia and created what became sukuti music, popular among western Kenya's traditional people. He was killed in 1963 by his in-laws when an argument with his wife's family got out of hand

Huombi mtu vile unaweza omba nguo. Hiyo ndiyo maana ya hii wimbo.
