I've had my R320 CDI from new in 2007. Best car I've ever owned, by a million miles. 32 mpg, quick, quiet, spacious and comfy. Only thing I regret - no panoramic roof. It's taken my family of six on three month long European holidays, and it was perfect.
I sat in one at a carshow and I actually liked it. The seating position for me, as someone with backproblems, was great. The seats themselves were comfy.
I bought a specialized BT module on Aliexpress, that connects to the proprietary "SCART-like" conncetor in glove comp. (AUX), and I stream a BT music from my phone.
2004-2009 Cadillac SRX had an Ultraview roof with a long but single retracting piece of glass (and a power shade). Never seen anything like it before it since. The Ultraview Plus model had a fixed piece over the third row with a power shade.
Love all videos and all the technical know-how! How did you convert your personal R-class to RWD? I’ve been flirting with this idea for my W211 E550 4Matic. ❤
I make no apologies for the fact that I like the R-Class from Mercedes-Benz. I did ever since it was debuted. It could be that it IS an "out-of-the-box" model and it did not go unnoticed or lost in a congested mall parking lot already overflowing in a sea of Explorer's and Grand Cherokee's. There is speculation about how to classify it, minivan is thrown about and so is SUV. I distinctly recall back in '97 when the ML320 came on to the scene for the '98 model year. I think that in '97, MB, was only taking orders for the new ML320 for the '98 model year? I remember hearing people talking about it, and most often the shape was the speculation. Is it a genuine SUV or a minivan? The year-long waiting list proved that if a log was hollowed out, and there was a 3-pointed star on the front, then junior is going to community college and he better become used to the scent and sound of popping oil for the fries!
All dealer techs hated them when they were newer, for reasons unknown to me. But they were no worse than an ML or GL, and way more comfortable. Everyone that I know that had one loved it. Also, a lot of people think this was related to the Chrysler Pacifica, which is completely untrue.
@@MowerModdinLooks like a pain to work on like most vans. Long wheelbase, so it takes up too much room in the shop and is hard to put on a lift, not to mention hard to get out of after positioning on the lift... plus the short hood and not much room in engine compartment.

I own an R63 and I really love it. It was my daily for 3 years. now I only drive it on long trips or cars and coffee.
I love my R class, even if it's ugly it serves all the purposes I need it for.

You can connect phone via aux cable in glove compartment and play music - works perfectly Martin

R Class is just all over

hoods are very short, good luck getting access to the rear of the engines, especially on m113 and m273 models
@MowerModdin There's a panel you remove and have access to everything.

wir haben 2 r350 + 500L genau die front mag ich sehr. unverwechselbar und das ist gut so
I was shocked when you mentioned the mileage is over 200k! I would definitely have said something like 60-80k judging from the condition.
I want one
Owned 3, including one of the first few hundred produced, and a 2012. Great ride and drive, but middling reliability.
What are main problems you faced with your 3 R ??
@ air suspension, electrical gremlins that plagued all MBs of the era. They were mostly reliable.
i will buy that 1...is this car at a dealership..
We sold it
The facelift R class looks alot nicer
Agreed
Can't wait to bring my R350 to y'all. It's a real basket case. Previous owner had it maintained by total idiot Neanderthals.
We love a restoration project!
