    5:51 afaik that theory has been put into "extremely highly unlikely" because of a study showing that gravity only gets weaker with 1/r^2 meaning it only spreads out the effect in 3 dimensions. There was a spacetime journal club about this.

      Hi! I make videos for BBC Earth Lab as well, maybe you saw me there? The time for each video varies, but they usually take a few days to write, then 1 day filming and 3-5 days of post production (including edit and graphics). All depends on complexity of the video of course and I don't take note of how long each video takes so that's a bit of a guess. Anyway, thanks so much for watching, hope you subscribed! :) Dom

    Given that dark matter is around 27% of the universe, and "normal matter" makes up approximately 5%, has it been theorized that multiple universes could be what we are "experiencing" as dark matter?

    Dark matter and dark energy have yet to be proven. Electric force through plasma has also explained all these phenomena.

    • @DomBurgess
      @DomBurgess  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      But that's the point - we don't know what it is. Dark matter could be elecric plasma, but until we know exactly what it is, dark matter is the name we give it.

      Hi Max, thanks for your feedback, it really is appreciated. As much as I would have liked to talk about the mathematics of dark matter/ dark energy, maths really isn't a strong point of mine! In fact, I don't have any formal science or maths background/education. I try my best with these videos, but inevitably it is difficult for me to delve too deeply into some of these more complicated subjects for fear of getting something drastically wrong. My goal for now is to introduce scientific subjects to people in a fun and fairly 'light' way and hope that it intrigues them enough to dig deeper into the details. Derek Muller and Micheal Stevens are extremely talented people, and very smart - and as much as I would love to make videos with the depth and scope that they can, until I find more help with my script writing and research, I will just have to continue with the strengths I have and hope that those writers come to me! Again, thanks for taking the time to comment, and I will check out Derek's video and thesis. Thanks! Dom :)

    Another parrot video. Doesn't anyone ever think for themselves anymore? Or are you all complacent to letting someone else tell you what is what? 1st of all this video doesn't explain anything. Hence the title is BS! Now for those of you with a brain? What do you know about matter? I mean really know? I'll give you a clue. It's mostly empty space. Or is it? How small can a piece of matter be? Plank scale? Who's to say that's the smallest? Yet at the same time? What's the largest size matter could be? How would YOU know where in that scale you are? You cannot see anything smaller than an atom at your present scale because you cannot construct anything smaller to use to view. Nor can you see anything larger than the universe for the same reason. Hence you know nothing! But to answer this video's question? Dark matter is neutral matter in that scale. Yes, many factors smaller than an atom yet massive in density. With similar characterizations of a Gluon. Hint Hint.
